Good ol' classic!Antagonist121 | Feb. 4, 2013 | Review of Red Faction
Great old game from the time when FPS's were decent, this is an actiony romp, with quite an advanced destruction engine for the time. I don't think it can beat the original Half-Life for sheer brilliance, but it still a great game! The graphics are slightly dated, but not by a huge amount, and the AI is lacking, but overall its great fun!
Warhammer 40K fan? Get it now!Antagonist121 | Jan. 30, 2013 | Review of Warhammer 40000: Space Marine (THQ)
This is a great fan service to the 40k fans out there, with good graphics and excellent use of the licence. As an actual game, its not fantastic, but it is an average third person shooter with a very good feel for the impact of weapons. I'm not a huge fan of the multiplayer, which is relatively limited, and surely there must be at least SOME chance of it being less completely linear... Regardless, its a fun brawl, but one that I enjoy in small chunks due to the repetitive nature of the gameplay.
A good balanceAntagonist121 | Dec. 29, 2012 | Review of Mass Effect 2 (EU)
This is a great game, which I think everyone knows by now. The original Mass Effect, in my opinion, had a fantastic story with ok combat elements, and I enjoyed the Mako exploration on the planets, even if it was a bit odd to be driving a tank which seemed to like bouncing along the world.
Mass Effect 2 changes this somewhat. The Mako sections have been removed entirely (apart from some vehicle missions you get in the Cerberus Netowork DLC). The skill trees and the way ammunition work have been simplified, and the somewhat bulky inventory system has been removed. The combat has been improved to a very high degree, and is much smoother and good fun. The story is still good, but I feel that there isn't the sheer quantity of backstory that there was in Mass Effect. Still, this is a fun game with plenty of story and RPG elements, as well as excellent third person shooting, making it a well balanced game.
Quite fun, but very difficultAntagonist121 | May 18, 2012 | Review of Men of War [Playfire]
If you've ever heard of a game called Sudden Strike, then this is very similar, except it is in full 3D and has better graphics and more gameplay mechanics. However, this is also a lot more difficult than Sudden Stike, in that it took me a while to beat even on of the first missions. Regardless, the m echanics are quite fun and it makes a change for a game to be so tactical. Plenty of missions to do as well. I would get some of the standalone expansions instead, as they have better and more updated gameplay mechanics.
Sonic is back!Antagonist121 | April 7, 2012 | Review of Sonic Generations
After the atrocity that was Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), as well as the stupid werehog one, Sonic the Hedgehog is finally back. It's essentially the daytime stages of Sonic Unleashed, with less frustration, more paths, more varied gameplay, and better backgrounds. The PC version is also quite a bit cheaper than consoles, and you don't really lose out on anything (apart from the original Sonic the Hedgehog as an unlockable in-game - but there are aprox 25 different versions of that on the PC, both on steam and online anyway). One note, you really have to play it with a controller if you want to play it properly.
Fun, hard, exciting, more fun.Antagonist121 | July 21, 2011 | Review of Men of War [Playfire]
This game is brilliant. Excellent campaign, with a great modding community. The game was very hard for me, but it was not frustrating, which made it all the more exciting. The field of view for each unit was a feature that I had not seen before, and it adds more tactics. One minor complaint is that the voice acting is pretty awful. But then again, this game is not about a deep and engrossing story. I'll leave that to the RPG's
Great game, although can get repetitiveAntagonist121 | July 10, 2011 | Review of Tower Bloxx Deluxe
This game is fantastic. The art style is good, and the bugs are non-existant. There is a lot of content in the game, with several modes, and the party mode can get competitive. The Quick play mode is good if you have a few minutes to spare, and the time challenge mode is addictive and fun. The only complaint is that the game can get slightly repetitve, as really you are only doing one thing over and over again. The different towers and modes help though. Altogether great game!
