A good action game...nevertheless

Despite the recent bandwagon bashing trend regarding that game, I took the risk to buy it, and I am not disappointed at all.

The FPS mechanics, while not being particularly briliant, still serve the gameplay efficiently. Despite the lack of credibility and immersion of the cutscenes, the - sometimes - poor narration and the lack of substance the characters, the game is still worth playing as he classic, fundamental codes of that kind of hallway FPS are efficient - provided you can tolerate that angle.

Gameplay-wise, the weapons sound and feel ridiculous but they also look good. The ennemy AI is ridiculous - sometimes, again - but in the end, the artistic direction and atmosphere make it easy for the player to commit and, after a while, you might stop seeing the flaws and just enjoy the game for what it is, despite its reputation : a solid FPS set in a remarkable world.

The Alien franchise deserves much more, and I do hope one game will truly honor it someday. But this episode hasn't been completely spoiled, neither have the fans and players in general been betrayed. It should be enjoyable for fans as well as for regular action games amateurs.
