Great Game - Good Deluxe EditionEpicazeroth | April 27, 2014 | Review of Mass Effect 2 (NA)
I haven't played Mass Effect 1, so I'm judging this game by itself, not as a sequel. First of all, I just want to say this an amazing game overall.
It has basically everything: 1) Smooth gameplay. This is probably one of a few dozen games where controller incompatibility was a plus. If it had been controller compatible, I would have used a controller, and never been able to play this game the way it should be played. All the controls are right there next to each other, and you never have to stretch your fingers awkwardly to in the middle of a battle. 2) Great story. Although at the beginning, the story was pretty predictable and a little bit cliché, it really gets better after the "tutorial" part. After that, the choices and the general story by itself make for an engaging, interesting game. 3) Interesting characters. Aside from Shepard being defined by player choices and therefore not judgeable as a character, the rest of the characters are very diverse. None of them seem like they're there just to fit an archetype, and none of them seem like they're too similar to any others. All of them feel real and relatable. 4) Interesting world. The galaxy really feels alive, from the wealth of the Presidium, to the battlefields you fight on, to the slums of Omega. Even the planets you never land on are all unique, so it never feels like any system is there for filler.
The only thing that prevents this game from being a perfect 100 is that some of the DLC's in the Deluxe Edition seem unnecessary. Even though it's not unacceptably more expensive, the Deluxe Edition bonuses sometimes just seem like more something given away as a consolation prize, instead of an actual "Deluxe" bonus.
Aside from that one tiny thing, it's an otherwise perfect game.
One of the BestEpicazeroth | Feb. 17, 2014 | Review of Just Cause 2
This is definitely one of the best sandboxes out there. The gameplay is great, though I suggest using a controller instead of a mouse/keyboard. The plot isn't amazing, but the rest of the game makes up for it, especially the side missions. There's something for everybody - the main story can be completed by more casual gamers, but the other missions can be difficult enough for more hardcore gamers. I would recommend a good computer for it, as otherwise the lag will probably make it unplayable.
Great All AroundEpicazeroth | Feb. 12, 2014 | Review of LEGO Marvel Superheroes (NA)
Like the title says, this is a game that's great in all fields. It has a great plot (for the type of game it is; I don't expect it to have Game of Thrones-style plot twists). It does a great job of being consistent with the movies while still being its own franchise. And it has a great map and world - including references and cameos by certain people. The only problem is that some characters are too similar to others - though that's to be expected when there are over 100 of them. It's one of the best games to play if you just want a fun experience.
