Great racing game but can get repetitiveGrogtheGinger | July 31, 2013 | Review of GRID 2 POST - PC
GRID 2 is a really fun game. The cars are great to drive and they do feel very different. There is no handbrake in this game but you can drift just by braking normally and there is just enough challenge in drifting without spinning to make it extremely fun. The game has a good story to it as you are a new driver who is making the WSR, a new racing tournament, a popular new sport. You gain fans and sponsors which have unique challenges. Unfortunately there is no performance customization in the single player (multiplayer only) but the visual customization is full of amazing ways to make your cars look awesome. The different race types are great but the game really fails on bringing plenty of great tracks to race on, after the first two seasons you've pretty much played on them all and they don't feel very different. This is a big problem as it makes the game very repetitive and can get quite boring. The game is still fun but this is a very big part of the game.
More streamlined Hitman but still greatGrogtheGinger | July 31, 2013 | Review of Hitman Absolution NA - PC
This Hitman game is quite different to the other Hitman games as it has a much bigger story focus. The story is actually quite good in my opinion and creates this very good and sometimes humourous theme. Most of the characters are really memorable but the saints shouldn't have been in the game. The levels are smaller and more streamlined in this game with less options for assassination. The missions are more get to the end of the level instead of assassinate these targets in interesting ways like older Hitman games which I miss. The disguise system is very annoying however as the people you are disguised as will see through your disguise very easily which just means there is no point in disguises. The graphics are amazing and the game runs really well. Overall, this game is very fun and will take a long time to finish if you are stealthy but I prefer Blood Money still.
Amazingly fun gameGrogtheGinger | July 17, 2013 | Review of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Steam - PC
GTA San Andreas is my favourite GTA game as it has really fun driving and shooting for an older game. This should work on modern systems with a few simple tweaks and there are plenty of great mods for this game. The story is a very good tale of a gang that is losing respect and it is full of memorable characters who you enjoy to be with on missions. San Andreas is massive and even at the beginning when a lot of the world is locked off. There are lots of vehicles throughout the game and plenty of easter eggs. The stats are good as well, you can go to the gym to increase your muscle and reduce fat so you can run for longer or be better at hand to hand fighting. The radios are great too with loads of songs from the time period (early 90s) and you can even add your own music if you feel like it). This game is very fun and stands the test of time really well so this is a definite buy for anyone even slightly interested in open world or action games.
Really fun action packed open worldGrogtheGinger | July 17, 2013 | Review of Just Cause 2 - PC
Just Cause 2 is one of the most fun games there is. The story is very cliche and just bad basically and has very bad voice acting. This isn't the focus here though as they just pile on all the fun gameplay with some destructible environments. The grappling hook and parachute are so much fun to use as they just give you a completely new way to travel through the massive game world. The world has a bunch of different biomes like snow, desert, forest and city (the city areas could have been bigger) and they are all quite boring and don't provide you with things to do except from blowing up statues and grappling about. The game is really really good still because there are so many vehicles like tanks, sports cars, helicopters and jets (lots of guns on them) which are really fun as you can do a stunt jump on every vehicle (you jump out on top of the vehicle). This game has some flaws but is just so much fun! It's really cheap now so you have no excuse to buy it.
Great game but not for everyoneGrogtheGinger | July 14, 2013 | Review of Max Payne 3 Steam - PC
This game has some really fun gameplay albeit some very linear levels. The bullet time is one of the most fun mechanics in a shooter and the graphics are amazing (it's very similar gameplay wise to the other Max Payne games). My main annoyance is the amount of cutscenes. The game takes control away from you so often that you get really frustrated because you just want to get back to the gameplay if you're like me. The story is very good and has that Rockstar games feel that all Rockstar games have this console generation. The time I had my real fun though was the multiplayer because it's all gameplay obviously and it's just really fun and addicting even with the odd over powered gun. The single player just had too many cutscenes for me to properly recommend but the multiplayer definitely makes it a really fun game to play.
Great game but still has a few small downsidesGrogtheGinger | July 14, 2013 | Review of Tomb Raider overflow 4 - PC
Tomb Raider is one of the best gaming reboots to date and is really fun. Lara Croft is a brilliant character in the reboot but some small story decisions just don't work with the gameplay but it's not much. The bad bits are only small things like having a lot of QTEs and scripted events but that's about it. The supporting characters aren't bad but they aren't the worst around by far. The story is really good but not as much of the supernatural stuff anymore. A lot of upgradables and great gameplay make up for every bad bit of the game. The cover mechanic is great (Doesn't snap to cover but just adjusts how easily she can be seen when next to a wall. The game is just really fun to play so you should definitely go and buy it.
Brilliant world and storyline that everyone needs to playGrogtheGinger | June 12, 2013 | Review of Bioshock Infinite Post Overflow - PC
This game's world of Columbia is amazing, the sunshafts look great and it has a real character to the place (runs pretty well too). Elizabeth is a really good companion who never gets in the way and actually helps you a lot. Really clever storyline throughout and the ending is great. When you play it you can definitely tell it's a Bioshock game and the new plasmids (now vigors) aren't too different to the old ones but work better with the defensive and offensive actions for each of them. The guns don't feel that good but the skyhook is used so well and is really fun. You do start to think too much about some things when you're done and you start to notice plot holes but it doesn't ruin the game and you will still look back on it thinking it was amazing. There are a lot of nice touches to the games with some songs you might notice and the odd easter egg too.
