Decent Indie Strategy Shooter

Harjyot | July 18, 2014 | Review of The Culling Of The Cows - PC

This is an alright indie game about zombies, of which there are far too many to count. The graphics and art style are interesting to look at, but the sounds are too generic and uninteresting to be engaging. The gameplay can be addictive but it quickly becomes apparent that it is far too simple, relying on difficulty curves to increase game length, not content. The strategy elements of the game are simply shallow and poorly implemented. I believe that it may still be worth checking out, if one is really looking for an indie zombie game with a unique visual style and addictive, albeit frustrating, gameplay.

Harjyot | July 18, 2014 | Review of RWRZ - PC

This is a fun addition to the base game, Real World Racing. The graphics are the same as the base game technologically, but the new tracks add a fresh twist to the basic game. Zombies may be in abundance in many games, but they do fit well into racing games. In addition to the zombies, who are the main attraction of the dlc, the new truck added into the game is also enjoyable to play around with. I would recommend it, as it is rather inexpensive and adds some variety to the game, but only if you enjoyed the base game.

Harjyot | July 6, 2014 | Review of Chronicles of a Dark Lord Episode 1 Tides of Fate Nightmare Vision DLC - PC

This is a retro style rpg, of which there are many right now. There is nothing here that particularly stands out and the art-style is simply drab, thus the old-school appeal is lost. Sound is nothing special, and can become grating and repetitive. On a positive note, there is a lot of content here that can be rewarding to experience, but only if one can get past the initial issues with the game, of which there are many. Only recommended for a serious enthusiast of these types of role-playing games, otherwise there are simply better options out there on the pc digital games market.

Fantastic arcade racing game

Harjyot | July 20, 2012 | Review of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit RoW - PC

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is a terrific high octane arcade racing title that is a fantastic addition to the series. It has got great and challenging racing gameplay along with great visuals and sound effects. The soundtrack has some great tunes, although there could have been more songs included. The gameplay itself is akin to Burnout as the developers are the same, so chances are if you enjoyed that series, you'll love this as well. Free roaming is a nice way to get a feel for the cars and to explore the large map. I definitely recommend this title, although the PC optimization could have been better.

Unique but disappointing

Harjyot | July 20, 2012 | Review of The Oil Blue - PC

The Oil Blue has an interesting premise and it is a truly unique game, but it simply fails to live up to its promise. The visuals are not impressive and neither is the sound, and the gameplay is hard to grasp and simply not very exciting, even when you start understanding the mechanics. As a minigame collection, it fails to go above other titles in the genre, and there are simply better minigame collections, though none with this setting. This game could have been a pleasant surprise, but as it stands, it is a disappointment. I have a hard time recommending this title.

Fantastic game

Harjyot | July 20, 2012 | Review of The Sims 3 RoW - PC

The Sims 3 has been a great life simulation game with a lot of extra content released for it as well. The gameplay continues to be just as addictive and fun as the past games in the series, and now your sim can fully explore the town and interact with other characters all over town as well, allowing for much more exploration and immersion than before. The humour and the music is fantastic, and the visuals are good, not to mention a major improvement over Sims 2. The only disappointment could be the lack of content that comes with the game, in comparison to past titles, but what's there is fantastic and the expansions have added quite a bit. I strongly recommend this title to anyone, and a plus is the system requirements to run it are low.

Good extra content for the Sims 3

Harjyot | July 20, 2012 | Review of The Sims 3 Fast Lane Stuff RoW - PC

This stuff pack for the Sims 3 adds a variety of extra content onto the main game, and the content itself is solid. It adds to the fun and addicting gameplay of the Sims 3 and extends your playing time and fun. The Sims 3 has had many content packs, and expansions, and this is a standout among them, especially if you want to your sim to live the luxury life. The price may be high, but if you really enjoyed the Sims 3, this stuff pack is definitely a solid purchase to really expand your Sims 3 game. I would definitely recommend this title.

Duke's back

Harjyot | July 26, 2011 | Review of Duke Nukem Forever - PC

Duke finally returns after all those years. The game is average at best, and tries to incorporate too many modern fps elements, like regenerating health. The visuals are also mediocre, but that is to be expected considering the extensive development cycle this game went through. Considering the wait many have gone through, it is not wrong to feel more than a little disappointed. All in all, a decent game that has nothing remarkable to set it above the other shooters in the market.

A good adventure

Harjyot | July 26, 2011 | Review of Mafia II - PC

Mafia II is a great adventure game that has great visuals and audio, along with a solid story, and decent shooting mechanics. The driving may put you off, and the game is not really free-roam, either. The game's city mainly exists for the story to unfold, so this game is more worth it for the story. The game is a great adventure, worth playing through at least once.

A fun little shooter

Harjyot | July 26, 2011 | Review of Woody TwoLegs Attack of the Zombie Pirates - PC

Woody Two-Legs is a fun shooter with a simplistic yet captivating art style. The gameplay starts off simple and it becomes more difficult as you progress. The audio is catchy and has a nice pirate vibe to it. The game is great for anyone looking for a wave based game with a pirate theme. A solid recommendation for the price.

Good Sequel

Harjyot | July 18, 2011 | Review of BioShock 2 - PC

Bioshock 2 is a good, although routine, sequel to the original Bioshock. Visually, the game is fairly unchanged, but the story is still strong, despite not reaching the standards the first one set in 2007. The combat is improved, and the soundtrack is as great as ever. Rapture is a city worth re-visiting in Bioshock 2, as 8 years has changed a lot. The game looks good, and runs smoothly. A recommendation if you really enjoyed the first Bioshock.

Fun Platformer

Harjyot | June 27, 2011 | Review of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 - PC

Sonic 2 is a fun platformer with a great sense of speed, unlike a lot of modern Sonic titles. The game is a varied and exciting experience the first time through, and it can also be challenging. The game is a nostalgic trip down memory lane, and as such it is a game still worth re-visiting, even in 2011. The feeling of speed and rush one feels as Sonic is second to none. A platformer that is truly timeless.

Great and Unique

Harjyot | June 27, 2011 | Review of Magicka - PC

Magicka is a great and unique game that is entertaining and hilarious, but best played with friends, as it is not balanced for solo play. The presentation is great and the use of magic combos really makes this game a standout, as the possibilities are quite amazing. A challenging and exciting magic-casting adventure experience with a great sense of humor. A great value for the money and I recommend it to anyone.

Harjyot | June 27, 2011 | Review of Railworks 2 SW1500 Switcher AddOn - PC

THis content pack for Railworks 2 is solid and fun on its own, but the high price point of it, like other extra content for this game, really makes it a non recommendation. What is given is well designed and detailed, but not exactly worthy of being called an expansion pack. Simply too expensive to be worth buying, unless you are a hardcore rail simulation fan.

Solid DLC

Harjyot | June 27, 2011 | Review of Trainz Simulator Murchison 2 - PC

This pack is a good add-on to the base game, and is actually a solid purchase, although I still recommend waiting for it to drop in price. The pack adds a lot of content to the game, thus adding a lot of variety and extending the game's life by a considerable amount. This dlc is worth considering if you own and enjoy Trainz.

Not worth it

Harjyot | June 27, 2011 | Review of Trainz Simulator Classic Carbon City - PC

The main game is fairly good, but this expansion is a really bad value for the money, due to its high price. The content itself is not bad and adds a nice change of scenery, but what is given to the player is little for the tremendous price. The content is simply not memorable and expansive enough to be worth buying, even if you are a major Trainz fan. Spend your money on something else.

Harjyot | June 27, 2011 | Review of The Tudors - PC

The Tudors is a decent but generally forgettable hidden object game with solid presentation and visuals for its genre. The story is not particularly strong and the game is more worth playing for its challenge, as the game becomes more challenging as you continue through each level in search of clues. The game is simple but it is nevertheless an adventure that may be good for the hidden object game fan.

Harjyot | June 23, 2011 | Review of Tomb Raider Legend - PC

Tomb Raider: Legend is a great game in the series that has great audiovisual presentation for its time. The gameplay is improved, and the overall experience has been refined from the previous games. This game is certainly worth checking out for all fans of the series. The missions are quite fun and exciting, and the combat is also solid.

A great game

Harjyot | June 23, 2011 | Review of Tomb Raider Anniversary - PC

Tomb Raider: Anniversary is another great installment in the Tomb Raider series. It has solid visuals and audio, along with a good amount of control options to choose from. It is a great remastering of the classic game, although the camera is still problematic. The game has fun platforming, puzzle solving, and decent combat. I recommend this to any fan of the franchise, as you will have a great time.

Mediocre Painkiller

Harjyot | June 22, 2011 | Review of Painkiller Redemption - PC

The game is visually worse than the original, and has poorer level design and story. The game just uses the Painkiller name, but fails to match the fun, addicting, and polished experience Painkiller: Black Edition is. Go check that out instead. The game simply fails to live up to its namesake.

Harjyot | June 22, 2011 | Review of World of Goo - PC

World of Goo is an excellent and surprisingly deep puzzler game. It is highly unique, innovative, and fairly challenging. The presentation is great for an indie title, and the game will last you for hours and hours. I highly recommend this game to anyone.

Addictive and Challenging

Harjyot | June 21, 2011 | Review of Droplitz - PC

Droplitz is a fun little puzzler that is well worth a try. The game has nice visuals and music, and it is also fairly difficult. But it can be quite addictive if you are prepared for a high degree of challenge. What might look simple ends up being quite complex. This game gets a recommendation.

Mediocre Edutainment

Harjyot | June 17, 2011 | Review of Brain Booster - PC

Brain Booster is a poorly visualized and drab educational game that is a far cry from some of the interesting educational games of the past. The games are not implemented well, and the game is simply boring. Look to the past for interesting and fun edutainment software, and avoid this game.

Solid game

Harjyot | June 17, 2011 | Review of Lara Croft And The Guardian of Light - PC

This game is a solid top down platforming action title, despite being different from the previous Tomb Raider games. The audiovisual experience is pretty good, considering it's a downloadable title. The experience and fun is even greater in co-op. This is an adventure that is worth the purchase.

A Blast

Harjyot | June 17, 2011 | Review of Painkiller Black Edition - PC

Painkiller is a great arcade fps that is very action packed and exciting. The visuals are still good, considering how old the game is now. The audio and physics are both quite impressive. This game is a great twitch shooter, and it is the kind of game one doesn't see too often nowadays. A game definitely worth checking out.

A bad game

Harjyot | May 27, 2011 | Review of East Side Story - PC

East Side Story is a game with a poor plot and terrible production valuables. It has highly derivative and poor, low-resolution visuals, along with bland gameplay. Avoid this game if you want a quality adventure experience. This is a mystery best left unsolved.

Simply great

Harjyot | May 27, 2011 | Review of BioShock - PC

Bioshock is a great and unique FPS title with a strong story and narrative. It is refreshing to see a single-player oriented shooter in this day and age. The visuals are solid and the game is very atmospheric as well. The gameplay is varied, and the game is fairly lengthy. Ultimately, a great value for the money, as it's an amazing experience worth playing at least once.

Harjyot | May 27, 2011 | Review of JoJos Fashion Show - PC

This is a game with cheap flash game visuals and the same could be said about its gameplay, which is in fact worse than many flash titles. The game is extremely bad, and the story is cringe-worthy. Avoid this game based on its genre alone, and it feels really cheap. Stick to flash games, as you would be saving a great deal of money.

Far too expensive

Harjyot | May 27, 2011 | Review of Railworks 2 Falmouth Branch Expansion Pack - PC

It adds some content to the core game, but the asking price is far too high for the amount and quality of the content. Railworks 2 should start selling their content packs at a much cheaper price, or include it in the inital release. Not a good expansion pack for the very high cost, although what it adds to the game is okay.

Harjyot | May 27, 2011 | Review of Mining Tunneling Simulator - PC

Visually, the game is fair, but the gameplay feels like a chore and the simulation aspects of the game are weak. A more refined and accurate simulation of mining along with more technical polish would have made this game a good representation of the mining industry. If you really want a simulator like this, this is probably your only choice though.

Bad cat game

Harjyot | May 27, 2011 | Review of Kitty Luv - PC

Bad visuals and boring, derivative gameplay. This is how I sum up this attempt at making a cat management game. The game is buggy and the gameplay is also terrible. A game clearly designed for kids, but it is so bad even they wouldn't want to play it. Look elsewhere for your pet simulation needs.

Not so good

Harjyot | May 24, 2011 | Review of Wisegal - PC

It is an adventure and hidden-object game that doesn't excel in storytelling nor gameplay. The visual design is neither amazing nor eye catching, and the game feels like an exercise sometimes. Some of the puzzles are actually interesting and fun, but this doesn't happen too often.

Harjyot | May 24, 2011 | Review of The Royal Marines Commando - PC

This game is a terrible budget shooter by City Interactive, who definitely have a reputation to release mediocre titles. The visuals are fair enough, but the gameplay is too repetitive and the AI is terrible. The sound and level design are redundant and the story is laughable at best. A positive is the game can be unintentionally hilarious due to the voice acting being so atrocious. All in all, avoid this low budget fps game.

Amazing Classic that has stood the test of time

Harjyot | May 24, 2011 | Review of Wonder Boy III Monster Lair - PC

It remains an enjoyable classic platformer to this day, and it is as challenging as ever. Its a nice platformer that has pretty good sound and visuals for its day. This is the kind of game you don't see enough of these days, and it remains a great co-operative experience as well. I recommend this game to anyone looking for an old-school platforming game.

Harjyot | May 24, 2011 | Review of Street Racer Europe - PC

The racing mechanics and visuals are both quite horrible, and the racing is very mediocre. The sound design and soundtrack is also bad, and the game feels like its from the 90s, and not in a good way. Avoid this game if you are looking for a street racing title worth playing.

Harjyot | May 24, 2011 | Review of Snowcat Simulator - PC

A simulator is not known for its thrills and excitement usually, but this game is simply boring. The visuals are fair but the gameplay can't be considered simulation at all. It is a clunky mess and a poor simulator. The game is more arcadey than you might think, and its just a dull game to play.

Not so good

Harjyot | May 24, 2011 | Review of Sea Bounty - PC

The game suffers from poor visual style and the game is repetitive and flawed by design. It is simply not a fun game, despite what you might be thinking before purchase. The game is quite long, but the issues and weaknesses really prevent this game from reaching its potential. A game of this nature would have succeeded with more polish and development time. Ultimately, I would not recommend Sea Bounty.

A fun puzzle game

Harjyot | May 23, 2011 | Review of Arctic Quest 1 - PC

Arctic Quest 1 is a nice and short puzzle game that is fairly unique and has a nice visual style. It starts off simple and it gets complex later on. There are other puzzle games that are more well known, but this game is still an enjoyable journey. A solid recommendation for any puzzle gamer out there, as this game is a nice hidden jem.

A Decent Simulation

Harjyot | May 23, 2011 | Review of Road Works Simulator - PC

The title may be off-putting to many gamers, but the game is actually a decent simulation of road building, although it is not completely accurate and is buggy. The visuals are weak and this can interfere with the immersion into this simulator game. It is nevertheless a decent and surprising, albeit buggy, representation of road working, which is important to most of us in our daily lives. This game can be enjoyable, but it depends on what you want from it.

A highly mediocre RTS

Harjyot | May 23, 2011 | Review of Canon Strike - PC

This game has bad RTS gameplay and the visuals are very outdated. Initially, the prospect of controlling a tank strategically is promising, but the execution leaves much to be desired. The RTS market is filled with similar titles that are much superior on the gameplay front, not to mention they have less bugs and better graphics optimization. The missions are very repetitive and I would recommend other titles for military RTS fans.

A Mediocre Racing Title

Harjyot | May 23, 2011 | Review of Streets of Moscow - PC

The visuals are fairly mediocre and the optimization is suspect. The handling model is all over the place, and it feels like a poor Need for Speed clone. The story is also very mediocre and generic. It feels like a waste of money even at a bargain bin price. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone, even though the premise sounds interesting.

Classic Shooter

Harjyot | May 21, 2011 | Review of Galaxy Force II - PC

An old school classic that remains enjoyable and very difficult to this day. It may seem outdated at first, but it is still worth checking out. The soundtrack really has an old school feeling to it, which a plus. Visuals have a nice pseudo-3D to it, which impressive for a Genesis game. Check it out sometime, and you'll have a blast.

A solid Sonic title

Harjyot | May 21, 2011 | Review of Sonic 3D Blast - PC

Sonic 3D blast is an enjoyable sonic game set in pseudo-3D. The gameplay and speed are different from the older games, but I still found it pretty fun. The visuals are impressive considering that it is based on the Genesis build of the game, not the Saturn one. A good game as long as you're not expecting it to be like the others before it.

Best Sandbox Experience

Harjyot | May 21, 2011 | Review of Just Cause 2 - PC

This game is a sure buy if you enjoy the open-world genre of gaming. Panau takes ages to completely explore, and there countless side missions besides the main plot, which is cheesy but funny as well. The visuals are also amazing, and the game is optimized and built for PC. The experience and lasting appeal you will get with this game is practically unmatched by other open world games in the market. The combat is filled with variety as there are many creative ways to kill your enemies. The parachute makes exploration across the many islands a great and even relaxing experience. The gunplay could have been better though, but the combat is nice overall. All in all, a must play for any gamer, especially if you love sandbox games.
