Soild JRPG experiece for the PCInvasion808 | Sept. 15, 2013 | Review of The Last Remnant
The Last Remnant is a classic JRPG game that has a few things that set it apart from other Square-Enix games.
The learning curve can be either shallow or steep depending on how in-depth you want to take the game. Changing into certain character classes can be complicated, and the leveling curve can be unforgiving at times.
Without spoiling anything, the storyline is pretty much your standard JRPG story with a few curve balls thrown in.
The Last Remnant offers a unique take on the classic turned-based JRPG battle systems. Instead of controlling a party of characters, you are put in charge of teams of characters; as large as 15 or even more.
Although the graphics can be nice, there is quite a bit of pop-in (due to the Unreal engine) and several of the animations can look stiff. Some people have stumbled upon a few glitches in the game, but I haven't found any yet.
I also own this game on the Xbox 360 and the PC version is superior in every way: better performance, more content, more customization. The only negative I can think of about the port is that the developer didn't really update the UI for the PC, and Xbox controller buttons can sometimes pop up during gameplay. This doesn't really bother me because I use an Xbox controller to play anyway.
Overall, The Last Remant is a fun, and sometimes complicated, JRPG for the PC.
A great Mortal Kombat for both old and new fans!Invasion808 | Sept. 15, 2013 | Review of Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition
Whether you're a long time MK fan or new to the series, this game has something for everyone. I'm a long time fan of the franchise but I haven't bought an MK game since MK4, this game has almost everything I've ever wanted in Mortal Kombat.
I have to stress that this Mortal Kombat has one of the best story modes I've ever played in a fighting game. I used to have this game on PS3 and I bought it again for the PC just so I can enjoy the story mode, it's that good!
Unique characters, fast and fluid gameplay, and tons of content make for a great fighting game. Graphics are a bit dated (though improved from the console version), and the online can be a bit inconsistent; but other than that there aren't may negatives for this game.
I highly recommend this game be played with a controller with a good directional pad.
