Great, unexpected game.K_ralz | March 28, 2015 | Review of Sleeping Dogs™ Definitive Edition
First off, I just want to say the port is very well done. The graphics are really nice, the game is very well optimized, and it only crashed on me once or twice.
The actual game itself is great, very satisfying. The comparisons with Grand Theft Auto I think begin and end with the fact that it's an urban open world game. Sleeping Dogs has a much more cohesive story that doesn't just rely on cruel jokes or scenarios and cheap thrills. (There are definitely "cheap thrills" throughout the story, but I feel like they are justified, because the story doesn't purely rely on them.) The gameplay is absolutely solid, offering a great balance between several gameplay mechanics.
The atmosphere and world are also really fantastic. It's a very unique setting, with a lot of detail. Clearly the developers did their research when looking for a realistic, predominately oriental setting. I never felt like certain aspects were overdone, or overused.
The only downsides for me were occasionally missions could be predictable and the overall progression was a little slow. However, everything else in this game stands out, so it's really easy to look past the flaws. A great game!
Another good installmentK_ralz | Dec. 26, 2014 | Review of Batman Arkham Origins
While not as strong as the previous titles because of some bugs and overall lack of innovation, it's still a good game and a worthy recommendation to any fan of the previous two games. The story is really good, and the gameplay is still fun. The graphics are really pretty and the atmosphere is fantastic. Multiplayer feels like a bit of an afterthought though, and was really unnecessary in my opinion.
Very unique game, need more like it!K_ralz | Sept. 21, 2014 | Review of Dishonored™ Game of the Year Edition (NA)
Dishonored is a breath of fresh air for today's video game industry. It combines a fantastic story with some great gameplay. I love the different combinations of combat you can use as you go through levels, it never left me feeling bored or underwhelmed. The levels are very well designed, and even if not all of them are massive, they still feel very big and alive. And on top of all that, the art style and graphics are very pretty. I highly recommend this game.
The DLC is also very well done, which is why I recommend getting the GOTY edition over the base game.
Definitely worth your time.K_ralz | Aug. 16, 2013 | Review of Condemned: Criminal Origins
It's not the perfect game, the combat can be sluggish and the level design isn't prime, but the other aspects are what make the game.
Bought it on sale, (as with most games I own) for like 3 bucks and it was worth it. The atmosphere is great, the horror is awesome, and the story is good.
I wish there were more games like this, Amnesia, and the original F.E.A.R. that put an emphasis on the horror and atmosphere of a "horror" game. The horror is more psychological and subtle, as opposed to being in your face and obnoxious, so it makes it much more scary. Even if not all the moments WERE scary, at least they didn't come off as obnoxious, and looked as if the developers were trying too hard to make you scared.
Solid Game.K_ralz | Aug. 11, 2013 | Review of Battlefield 3: Premium Edition (NA)
Recently purchased from GMG for 20$, and I'd say it was worth the money!
The only real problem is that it requires Origin, and not Steam, (but you can adapt to that easily) and the browser is stupid. I don't understand why they can't do an in game server browser like Call of Duty or Counter-Strike.
Great visuals, amazing sound effects, and lots of great maps. If you're looking for a FPS with more required teamwork, check this out.
