Binding of Isaac Review

KatanaBladeNeko | Nov. 6, 2013 | Review of The Binding of Isaac - PC

Binding of Isaac. It's a rare game, a cheap game that we can play for hours and hours on end without ever being bored. I mean, sure, you're gonna get bored, but it's still gonna last. The Graphics are simple, but really works with Binding of Isaac. I feel that it needed that cartoony feel, music is also good, as well, with it all being composed by Danny Baranownsky, who is equal with New World Revolution for best soundtrack in my opinion. Gameplay is simple, wasd to move, arrow keys to shoot, (you can use the mouse as well, but it's only useful for one item in the game, which I'm not sure if its in this version or the Wrath of the Lamb version.) E or Shift to use a bomb, space to use a special item, and Q to use a Card or Pill item. The game is also random generated, which is its biggest appeal. Since the game is strictly permadeath, playing the same level over and over again is gonna get irritating. Now that the game is random generated, it'll be less of a pain. There are 6 characters, but when the Halloween update hit, it turned into 7, and if you have the DLC, Wrath of the Lamb, it becomes 8. Stages are also numerous. About 5 (rough estimate,) which I'm not gonna spoil. Enemies are intuitive, but I do have one complaint. In a specific boss, the boss is overpowered, but in the boss' upgraded version, she is easier. Fortunetly, when that version gets upgraded, it's a challenge. But once again, I'm not gonna spoil it. Story is kinda rubbish, however. Even though it's based off some of the christian bible, it wasn't the best. Verdict: Graphics: 9/10 Story: 6/10 Gameplay: 8/10 Replability: 10/10 Cost: 8/10 Difficulty: 8/10 Music: 10/10 Originality: 9/10 Download: 8/10 Verdict: 9/10 Rating: 85. Good game, solid all around, except for story.
