Im going to get the negatives out of the way first. The server browser is does not show accurate player counts in servers and inaccurate pings. Team balancing just grabs the top scorer from the opposite team if teams become uneven, so a losing team can lose its best player if someone on winning team leaves. Some maps are designed to give a significant advantage to a team that stacks archers and can make a match very unenjoyable.
With all that said, this game is one of the best multiplayer experiences I have had in years. The Melee combat is very responsive and encourages timing and skill over wildly swinging. You can initiate attacks and then cancel them to trick your opponent into blocking at the wrong time. There are servers dedicated to a rule set where players fight 1v1 without interference. Deathblows can sever legs, arms and head...and a blunt weapon might just crush their skull entirely. In last man standing, you have to win 7 rounds to win the map, and a round ends when all members of one team are dead. Its very rewarding( and difficult) to be the last person on your team and manage to fight off 3 of the remaining opponents. Sometimes you even find players with enough balls to approach you one at a time.
TL:DR Game is a great value for $25 and they have already discussed additional content at no additional cost.
