After 3 play-throughs with different characters, I am still enjoying Borderlands 2. Each character, especially the Mechromancer and Psycho, have different playstyles that make each play-through different despite doing the same missions. The base game has a lot of content if you wish to do all of the side missions. Some of the side missions are simply fetch quests which can get repetitive but some stand out. The gunplay feels good and there is a large variety of weapons available. This game has many variants of guns but a lot exist to simply sell, but that is fine. Borderlands 2 is best experienced with friends who are willing to trade weapons to let each other reach full potential. The story is serviceable while the characters are memorable. The dialog is generally humorous with some cringe-worthy lines but the better lines shine through.
This game is not without its flaws. The gun vendors don't keep up with your level until you do certain story missions that progress the game so it can be frustrating. Also when you reach 50, the endgame is lacking. I found myself farming for Legendarys or experimenting with new skill builds. With all this said, Borderlands 2 is a solid mix-up but with more innovations the franchise can transcend into a classic.
