Chivalry Review

Memmorath | May 16, 2013 | Review of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare offers great hack&slash multiplayer action, though suffers from lack of depth in every other field. Customisation is limited to weapons only and changing helmet style once enough unlocks are achieved for a certain class. The graphics are decent, though there are some time to time glitches.

The gameplay it self is mostly fast paced action, and hitting and killing your foes is rewarding enough, though at times, there are frustration when your "sure-to-hit/kill" strike misses your target for some inexplainable reason. The first person view is something hard to read due to depth-of-field and the reach of your weapon doesn't always seem to be quite accurate. Despite this, it's fun enough to whack at your enemies and see them fall down before you.

The classes are mainly balanced, but there are moments when some just seem way to weak while others are too strong, though player skill does factor into that as well. Well skilled man-at-arms can easily harass and score many hits against much slower knight, but all the knight needs is a lucky hit and the man-at-arms is in two pieces.

Overall, the game is decent, but not great. Has its strengths and weaknesses, and amounts to a decent hack & slash multiplayer game. And is all the more fun with a bunch of friends and coordination.
