I was pointed in the direction because of TotalBiscuit. He seemed to like the game a lot. I am a fan of over the top action and graphical weirdness. This game provides just that. The graphics are cartoony but with enough blood and splatter. Every 'boss' you kill gets killed in an extreme fashion (some examples are: stung to death by wasps, laser beam, wrestling takedown,...)
The biggest complaint I have about this game is that when you die, the dialogue you had with a boss will come back. This is kind of annoying, since you can't skip it either.
Nice as standalone, better with DayZNaviigator | Jan. 8, 2013 | Review of ARMA II Operation Arrowhead
As many other players, I mainly purchased this game for DayZ. However, as it did not function instantlty with DayZ, I decided to give the single player a go as well. Everything looks quite nice, but the gameplay feels weird. This is probably because I am not used to military simulators. After some time I got used to the controls and understood how to play properly, then the game became quite a bunch of fun. In order to install DayZ I first had to install Arma Free (guess what, it's a free Arma game) and this game. Using six launcher I got DayZ working.
DayZ is not my cup of tea. I don't think the engine is the best choice for a zombie apocalypse simulator. It is however a bunch of fun to play with some friends. I didn't like to play with random people since then you don't have the 'personal' feeling when you die.
Overall I think this game is definetely worth the asking price if you are interested in either a milsim or a zombie apocalypse simulator.
nice fancy clothesNaviigator | Jan. 7, 2013 | Review of Awesomenauts - Costume Party Bundle
If you want to show your appreciation for the game in a fancy way, you can buy this bundle and look fabulous in the game. This is only cosmetic and will not in any way improve your gameplay, but you can feel good about yourself because you support these developpers and you look like a boss!
fun game but very easy to make mistakesNaviigator | Jan. 7, 2013 | Review of Awesomenauts
I like this game a lot. It takes the moba formula and makes it work in 2D. The matchmaking process is smooth, the game runs well on most computers and I can not complain about the mechanics. The game is a ton of fun when you are winning, but I feel like it could use 'noob' lobbies. There are botgames, but these are not the best ways to learn MOBA style games. I think this game is definetely worth the asking price. If you happen to like it, maybe the Costume Party Bundle is nice for you?
whow... just whow!Naviigator | Dec. 7, 2012 | Review of Assassin's Creed III: Deluxe Edition DNS
I played most previous assassin's creed games. I liked the combat, you feel like a total badass. I didn't like how the combat felt completely different from the parkour / free climbing parts. Assassin's creed 3 fixes this issue nicely. The combat feels more mobile, probably due to the running assassinations (you run, kill someone and keep running after the kill). The combat is still very rewarding, making it easy for players to pull off some great moves. I do think the game is rather easy, you can kill 25 soldiers who wield bajonets without even losing half your health. The setting is quite nice, I like it how you can make money by just hunting animals.
My graphics card (nvidia 200 series) had an issue with the character hair in several cutscenes. After I updated to the newest beta driver it was fixed however. (or maybe later in the game this issue does not appear anymore).
Overall I would like to recommend this game to any player who likes a game with a nice story, good action, nice graphics, and a lot of things to do.
The Darkness II (never played the first)Naviigator | Dec. 7, 2012 | Review of The Darkness II dns
Having never played the first "The Darkness" or read the comics I thought I would not be able to understand the story. I knew the setting, saw screenshots and read some articles. The game starts off well, the story is explained and everything looks great. I played trough this game in about 8-10 hours (single player only). I am not a completionist. I like to enjoy my games, not explore every single inch of the level. I think people who like to explore more and find secrets will probably spend about double the time. The game can be surprisingly difficult at certain points (when played on the highest difficulty). I got frustrated and played on a lesser difficulty pretty quickly. I would like to recommend this game to anyone who likes over the top action (kills feel really satisfying, especially with the demon arms), shooters or people who generally like a good story.
Ok expansion for great gameNaviigator | Dec. 7, 2012 | Review of Saints Row: The Third - Season Pass
The Season Pass gives you access to some nice dlc, it extends your gameplay for a couple of hours. I think it's great for fans who appreciate the game, but it will not offer something new. The new missions are nice to play once, but they lack the depth of missions that were in the normal game. I liked the main game a lot, but can't help but feel that these extra missions are less fun then the main game, but I do think it's worth the money.
