A utopia separated from state and religion gone wrong...

NorBdelta | May 13, 2013 | Review of BioShock

Bioshock is a game set in the underwater city of Rapture post civil war, the city was founded on the beliefs of capitalism and the benefit man can create for oneself without religious or state persecution or intervention. Basically it started as such but after a time individuals sought their own control and power accumulation and the city fell into anarchy.

The game has a beautiful combat mechanic revolving around special abilities such as the control of fire and electricity as well as many more even more entertaining. The special abilities akin to magic are used in conjunction with standard weapons or fashioned ones (e.g. Machine gun, pistol, etc) and the grenade launcher, etc which has been made from junk and parts. The fashioned ones do not need to be made but have been built during the civil war. They are all upgradeable to further their effectiveness which adds considerable entertainment value to their enhanced effects.

Without any spoilers the main character you play as ends up in the city and quickly gets involved in the affairs of key individuals with a few very good story twists thrown in.

The game is extremely entertaining and has an excellent story as well as the mentioned twists. definitely a game on the list of Must Plays in the life of a gamer.
