Best Kart Racer on PC

Rawnblade1213 | Oct. 8, 2013 | Review of Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed 4 Pack

This game is awesome! Why the heck would Sonic need to use a vehicle when we've already seen him run at the speed of sound I don't know, but I'm gonna go ahead and preach a little video game blasphemy and say it is as good if not better than any Mario Karts. It's pretty similar to those games, in that you drive around shooting various powerups at competitors and drift boosting around corners, but instead of being stuck in a car the entire time you automatically switch between land, air, and sea vehicles at specific parts in each map. The vehicles all transition smoothly and each vehicle requires different techniques to handle through the varied and changing stages. The most memorable stage I've come across involves driving on and off tons of Aircraft Carriers (from a game called Afterburner?) that are doing battle with each other. Insane!

Instead of all the characters coming from the Sonic universe (like Mario Kart's characters all coming from the Mario universe) SEGA just pulled seemingly random characters across all their published games. Some people make sense, such as the Crazy Taxi guy, but wtf Total War Shogun 2 racer? Football manager? Seriously? This stuff is amazing but ridiculous! You can even play as the Team Fortress characters! All the characters have their own voices and vehicles and it's a ton of fun to hear their respective theme songs play as they enter their special uber star mode.

If you're craving Mario Kart like action on the PC, it's hard to do better than Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed. It's a ton of a fun and you can even play split screen on the same system through the entire campaign. I recommend.

Amazing Co Op Heistin'

Rawnblade1213 | Oct. 8, 2013 | Review of Payday 2

An excellent, addictive co-op bank robbing and objective doing shooter best played with a good group. Some heists are possible to complete stealthily, which is often difficult but very satisfying. Even the public games I've joined have been mostly successful, except the games where the host only wants to farm for cards (how you get mods and masks). What’s the point of doing a repetitive task over and over again just to get stuff you’re never gonna use? This breaks the game and turns what should be a pulse pounding action sequence into a repetitive grind.

The heists are set to an ass kicking soundtrack that'll have you bobbing your head while causing mass mayhem. The loot system has been criticized for its randomized nature, but isn't this how all RPGs drop loot? The card system actually makes me super excited every time, kind of like a compulsive gambler. The game also has strong RPG elements, with 4 different skill trees that offer very different attributes and advantages, which can be spec'ed into interesting builds. This shit is super fun, would definitely be playing for a long, long time.

Good game

Rawnblade1213 | Oct. 8, 2013 | Review of Guild Wars 2: Heroic Edition (NA)

Tons of fun while playing with other people, and the quest system is the most organic and interesting interpretation of quest giving I've ever seen. Sure there's the "kill 10 rats" or "pick 30 vanilla blossom" quests, but the ambient events are awesome.

You can just walk around and find yourself engaged in combat with a giant monster of the deep or whatever. Highly recommend if you're sick of MMOs like WOW, I stopped playing but I think that was due more to me not liking MMOs as much as I thought I did. No monthly subscription either! So play as little or as much as you want!

Needs Improvement, but I'm hopeful

Rawnblade1213 | Oct. 7, 2013 | Review of Total War: Rome II

I preordered this instantly way back in April but so far I'm slightly disappointed. After the relatively well polished and well put together Shogun 2 I was hoping CA learned its lesson in making decent first impressions, but Rome 2 looks poorer and runs worse than Shogun.

It also omits things like Family Trees and the politcal system isnt ever explained.

The tutorial is much shorter too, and the AI is literally incapable of sieging without throwing those damn torches at the main gates. They also don't really build any siege towers :(

If someone had played this game for more than an hour they would've found out these errors, btu I am hopeful that everything will be fixed evnetualyl and we will get the Rome we were promised.

Awesome

Rawnblade1213 | Oct. 7, 2013 | Review of Just Cause 2

This is a great name for the game,

"Why would you jump out of a helicoptor only to hijack another one and crash it into a big gas container?" JUST CAUSE!

"Why would you meticulously rope together a car and a helicoptor to make a big wrecking ball that will destroy everything?" JUST CAUSE!

Super fun sandbox but could be kind of boring if you're not creative. Tons of fun though! Wait for a sale, I've seen it go to 3.00 on steam before
