Chivalry is an online multiplayer sword fighting game. The matches are usually 10-32 players in two teams or in free for all.
There's four classes to choose from: archer, man at arms, vanguard and knight. Each has their own set of unlockable weapons and each weapons and each class has a different playstyle.
There's 4 weapons unlocked for each class to start with six more to unlock as you get kills with the various weapons. Learning which weapon suits you best and which class you're best with takes a lot of experimentation and practice to learn how to use each effectively.
The combat system is fairly deep with each weapon having varying speed, length and damage stats as well as different animations, different types of damage and different ways to swing or thrust each weapon. However, while there's a lot to dive into it's easy to just pick up a sword and charge at the opponent swinging for their head and still have a good time so don't let the thought of learning all the different weapons/classes deter you.
There's around ten maps of different sizes as well as workshop maps that are becoming more and more popular. There's at least six game modes like Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, etc as well as a Team Objective based mode which involves attacking or protecting objectives.
If you've ever wanted to storm a castle's walls with a longsword chopping off your enemies' heads as you go while a ballista bolt fires and impales the knight who was running next to you with longbow arrows flying all around you as you try to get to the battering ram to destroy the castle's gate so you can run inside and kill the king, this is the game for you.
