A great story driven gameRolalas | April 6, 2014 | Review of The Darkness II
Darkness 2 is an amazing sequel to a pretty good game.
This game delves further into the comic book lore and expands the world originally introduced in the first game. You do not have to play the first game to understand this one in fact the first game did not age well as an early console generation game. This game however has a wonderful aesthetic and a great visual style. The single player is wonderful and tells a great story, but the multiplayer leaves much to be desired.
Faithful creation of the MythosRolalas | April 6, 2014 | Review of Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth
This was a great game that flew under the radar after it came out.
You take on the role of an investigator trying to uncover the mysteries of Innsmouth, after an incident report reaches you. You come upon this dank port town full of strange looking people and even stranger mysteries. The game itself plays like 1-player Call of Cthulhu campaign where the keeper insists on making you the most aggravated person they know.
An amazing Action AdventureRolalas | April 5, 2014 | Review of DmC: Devil May Cry
This new Devil May Cry game is a wonderful breath if fresh air for the series after it put itself in a corner after the second game. Ninja Theory did a wonderful job of re-imagining this popular series. I found the new version of Dante to written much better and to be easier to relate to. I found the game-play to be the greatest part of the game as the combat flowed smoothly from enemy to enemy and from combo to combo, but after playing the story for a while I found it to get repetitive. Overall: great action game with a good story get Virgil's downfall as well if you get the chance.
The natural evolution of shoot and lootRolalas | April 5, 2014 | Review of Borderlands 2 (NA)
This game was a wonderful sequel to one of the greatest shooting games ever made. Gearbox added more writers to the development for this game and it shows. Anthony Burch helped to expand a world players of the first game thought they already knew quite well, but when the player revisits Pandora as a new vault hunter, they are injected into an unfamiliar place they must relearn, reacquainting themselves with this not-so-wild-anymore wasteland. The developer took what worked in the first game and turned it up to eleven and everything that players did not like and fixed it. Despite all of that though I found I could not inspire myself to finish it right away. But overall it is an amazing game especially with friends
A gret example of a sequel that improves upon the first gamesRolalas | March 16, 2014 | Review of Darksiders II
This was a great game that I wish was getting a part 3. The story merges well with the first despite not being a sequel. The questing in the game feels exactly as good as it should be. The only shortfall in the equipment system which feels like every MMO I've played.
