I am the king of the world! (Well, not so much with my skills)

SadN3rd | Aug. 22, 2013 | Review of Europa Universalis III Chronicles - PC

Never buy a Paradox game on release. It will be bug-ridden and half-broken. But after a while, when it's all patched, fixed and good to go, it's one step away from perfect. EU III is not an exception. Maybe it's just me, but the whole map-painting thing, all these wars and politics, colonization and trade, it's just so interesting and...I don't even know. Over the last two weeks, 3 days of pure time I was playing this game. Although I fail miserably every time I set the difficulty beyond Easy (or Normal, in case I'm playing as a big European nation), it's still a challenging and engaging game. When the dice rolls bad for you - your king is a total idiot, your navies are destroyed in a storm, your genius heir dies, comets start appearing every single month - you don't really want just to save/load - you'd want to make your way out. There's never been a better map painting simulator.

I didn't even touch the Act 3

SadN3rd | Aug. 22, 2013 | Review of Anno 2070 - PC

Endless mode and the events alone kept the game interesting for quite a while - I spent 100 hours just building cities. Who'd think I'll get this much fun out of 40 bucks? I sure as hell didn't. The graphics are nice and comfortable - even brownish tint so overused in modern games has a purpose here. I didn't expect that. The music is calm and relaxing, dynamic and changing (each AI opponent has his own theme) and I didn't get bored of it. Well, there's UPlay. Some people joke that it's more like "UDon'tPlay" but I didn't really have problems with it - they seem to have Offline Mode and it works flawlessly. (Here's looking at you, Steam). Buy the complete pack when it goes on sale if you like building cities - you just won't regret it.

It is another zombie game, but...

SadN3rd | Aug. 21, 2013 | Review of Dead Rising 2 - PC

It's a zombie game done right, and it is a very rare occasion. There is no brown and bloom sepia madness, and the graphics feel pretty nice - despite mediocre animations. The co-op is fun, hands down, but is ultimately flawed by GFWL (it's shutting down next year, even) Saving people (or failing to) is a nice gimmick. So is a possibility of screwing up the story missions without a "game over, you loser" screen. I'm not really good at reviews, but I like this game despite some of its flaws, dying co-op and mediocre graphics that is, but nonetheless - this one's money well spent in my book.
