Great Storytelling, fun, dark world.TheArtOfShazzam | Oct. 5, 2013 | Review of BioShock (NA) - not live
This game allows you to develop your own methods for dealing with the things that go bump under the sea. I chose a wrench for most of my encounters, you can use guns or "magic" effectively to do the same thing. The versatility of enemies and the different set pieces make for an excellently paced game. The combat was more that just workable, it was truly fun. The story though, is where this game shines. If you haven't played it yet but are thinking that you're spoiled, you don't care about an old game, etc. Pick it up. It's great. I played it years after Bioshock 2 came out and still found it to be one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've had. Truly a labor of love.
The Best Superhero Game Yet.TheArtOfShazzam | Oct. 5, 2013 | Review of Batman Arkham City: Game of the Year
This game has it all. Great story, great combat, rpg elements to customize your Batman and his available gadget, multiple ways to progress and take down bosses, great voice acting, great graphics, great controls, memorable moments - it's all here. Definitely do not pass on this one. It is truly an exceptional game. If you think a Batman game can't have heart and leave you with emotion at the end, think again.
2nd Only to its SuccessorTheArtOfShazzam | Oct. 5, 2013 | Review of Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year
This was the best superhero game ever until Arkham City came along - but it's a close second. The gameplay is exceptional and the somewhat linear nature of the story plays out very nicely. If you're not a fan of open world you may actually like this one better. You truly feel like Batman. No fan should be without this game and anyone that like Batman: The Animated Series, this has the same voiceactors for Batman and the Joker. Exceptional.
One of the best stories in gaming.TheArtOfShazzam | Sept. 18, 2013 | Review of Alan Wake
The gameplay is somewhat fresh, though it can get repetitive at times. The third person perspective I found adds to the combat, though this is debatable.
The main draw to this game however, is the story. I have compared it to the Watchmen graphic novel as being a best in class story. And I will continue to do so. After playing the game I feel I would gladly have paid full price for it, but if you're looking to simply take a chance on some of the best storytelling in a game, I feel $30 or any kind of deal on the game would be highly worthwhile. I have reviewed this game based on 360 play using a controller, so I cannot say too much to the controls on pc, though I suspect they would be better.
If you can grab it for a good price, you will love the story and be thinking about it for years to come.
