Not a fan.

The__Malteser | April 28, 2013 | Review of BioShock Overflow 1 - PC

I am a huge FPS fan, so after reading countless good reviews about the game, I decided to give it a try. I saw sadly disappointed. I feel lost and confused. I feel that I am spending much more time looking around to find bullets for my gun, rather than following the story. There is a lot of places to move around and get lost, which at first may be good (as you are free) it ends up being tedious and a bit annoying. Its not all bad though. The graphics are good (considering its a bit old now) and the sound is top notch. Still I feel I was a bit disappointed with it, and I am not sure I will move onto BioShock 2.

The__Malteser | April 28, 2013 | Review of Max Payne 3 Steam - PC

Being a new-comer to the Max Payne series, I was not sure what I was expecting. I was pleasantly surprised, as Max Payne 3 offered a top notch experience, on all fronts. The story is breathtaking, full of twits and turns which will keep you guessing until the end of the game. Its a fairly long story, so it will take time to finish, if you follow it closely. The game also has items to search for, clues and golden guns, which will keep you coming back to the game to find them all and complete it 100%. Multiplayer is also good and enjoyable. While the number of people online isn't very high, they are very good and enjoyable to talk to. It also has a lot of unlockables and ranks, which means you have to play quite abit to reach the top rank. I was surprised by the quality of the game, even more so when it ran flawlessly in my low end PC. Will be interested in the next edition of the series.

Unexpectedly Good!

The__Malteser | April 28, 2013 | Review of Sniper Elite V2 - PC

Good and solid game. Single player is very good. It is long enough for you to stay immersed, but not short that it falls short content wise. The stealth aspect is wound in well with the gameplay, and the X-Ray cam is excellent! The wind and gravity are top notch too. It makes the game very realistic and makes it stand out on other game. The 100 gold bars and 37 wine bottles will definitely give you some searching to do. Multiplayer is great too. Who doesn't like some sniper/stealthy action? The Distance King game mode is great, something which for me, is new. Also, the fact that you can tweak the effect of gravity and wind makes each lobby unique. Also, the gravity and wind create a somewhat steep learning curve. Co-op is a good add on. It has 3 game modes (excluding co-op campaign) with around 3 missions per mode (Kill Tally, Overwatch and Bombing Run). They are very fun, until the novelty wears off, and then they can get a bit tedious. The achievements help to add longlivety to the game, meaning that you can get a solid 24+ hours to fully complete it. Very good.

Same Old, Same Gold!

The__Malteser | April 28, 2013 | Review of Football Manager 2013 - PC

Football Manager 2013 delivers a unique and immersive football management experience, unparalleled in the genre. Apart from updating the database (just like it does each year) it added a few more features, most notably the challenges and the FM Classic game modes. FM Classic is a stripped down version of the 'old' way of playing Football Manager, by keeping the base essentials, but stripping down any extra features who casuals don't care about. It still keeps the immersive experience of the full game, thus making it a very interesting mode for new players. The challenges part is very intriguing, as you are given a series of pre-determined challenges which you have to complete. By completing them, you earn aids, which can be used in FM Classic. These aids can include no sacking, unlimited scouting, and everyone interested, amongst others. Personally, I love Football Manager 2013, as it kept the same base as last year, and added a lot of new content on the previous versions. Its not perfect, as the match engine can still be improved, but its the closest you can get to real football management.
