You are the Batman

ThreshNautBlitz | July 22, 2014 | Review of Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year

Become one of the greatest legends in comic hero history and save Arkham from near certain doom! Batman Arkham Asylum has fantastic visuals, fun combat mechanics, and a great story to top it all off. While some of the detective work gameplay could use some attention, the rest of the game makes up for it. Stalk your prey, plan your attack, and strike. Become the Batman.

Ridiculously hard, yet so much fun

ThreshNautBlitz | July 16, 2014 | Review of Super Meat Boy

Super Meat Boy will make you grit your teeth, throw down your gamepad, and punch the screen repeatedly before you calm down and try again. It may be one of the hardest games in the genre, but it's also extremely fair. Perhaps that is why it is so satisfying try after try after try when you finally beat the level.

Good story, but not our classic Lara Croft

ThreshNautBlitz | July 16, 2014 | Review of Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider is a good story with an annoying protagonist. The game is overhyped for having a female protagonist and needs to be looked at in closer detail just like any other game. The Lara Croft in this reboot does not possess the same personality as the original Tomb Raider protagonist. And while some may claim the new Lara is going to have differences than the classic Lara because it's an origin story, it still does not make up for the huge gap in the mindsets of each version. Overall the story is decent and worth a shot. The gameplay is cheap and throws immeasurable key mashes, quick time events, and jump scares at you. The only thing that kept me going on this game was the beautiful graphics, decent story overall, and the exploration side of the game. If this goes on sale, give it a try.

A neat little strategy shooter

ThreshNautBlitz | July 7, 2014 | Review of Frozen Synapse

To find a top down shooter this good is rare. Turn based mechanics, variety of classes, and room composition allow for this game to have infinite replayability. While there's always room for improvement, the game's overall feeling is smooth. Filled with endless strategy and countless hours of fun, Frozen Synapse is an easy 9/10.

Trolling at it's finest

ThreshNautBlitz | July 7, 2014 | Review of Eryi's Action

While it may look like a simple platformer, Eryi's Action is a full on rage game. With traps springing at you around every corner, it's hard to resist the urge to Alt+F4. The developer's of Eryi's Action were clever in the game's development and take many conventional ideas and recreate them with unexpected twists.

Day to day time waster

ThreshNautBlitz | July 7, 2014 | Review of Cherry Tree High Comedy Club

Create a team of fellow high schoolers to join your reboot comedy club. Walk through town, get your homework done, and maybe read a few magazines to brush up on your cultural news. This game has a lot of chat between characters, although the gameplay gets repetitive. A couple of one liners here and there and overall pretty comedic. Why live your own life when you can live the life of a teenage girl?

Demented

ThreshNautBlitz | July 7, 2014 | Review of Lucius

Conjure plans and plot to kill everyone! While the story suffers a little bit, the gameplay makes up for it. Picking off family members one by one through a series of "unfortunate events". With one accident after another, this game is devilishly fun with a very dark humor. Not for the faint of heart!

Incredibly fun

ThreshNautBlitz | July 2, 2014 | Review of Borderlands 2 (MAC)

Borderlands 2 has guns... and more guns... and more guns... and even more guns! Interesting character upgrade system to allow for a different experience every time. The game has a lot of guns, too. And while single player is fun, co-op is a MUST for this game. The amount of guns is just too much for one person to handle! Borderlands 2 has memorable protagonists and one hell of a villain. Overall, Borderland 2's story is fantastic, the gameplay phenomenal, and the environments are fitting. Oh, and did I mention the guns?

Metal!

ThreshNautBlitz | July 2, 2014 | Review of Brutal Legend

Brutal Legend combines some of the best combat oriented gameplay known to man into one big game. There's upgrade systems for your axe and guitar for melee combat at the same time as being able to deploy allied warriors at your will. The story is told well and has some funny moments. Play as Eddie Riggs and take trip through the underworld. Did I mention you get a kick-ass car?

A few story breaking flaws, but overall worth the play through.

ThreshNautBlitz | July 2, 2014 | Review of BioShock Infinite (MAC)

While Bioshock Infinite may have fantastic visuals and entertaining gameplay, there are a few story breaking logic flaws near the ending. However, with all paradoxes aside, Bioshock Infinite is a fantastic game full of breathtaking environments, classic FPS gameplay, and a hell of a story to complete the Bioshock franchise.

Graphics 9/10 Incredible views throughout the game along with an environment that felt real.

Story 8/10 While Bioshock Infinite did an extraordinary job at portraying religion and racism in "early America", it failed to come through in the end due to some extreme hiccups. So while 95% of the story was over the top, the ending really puts a dent in the game's integrity.

Gameplay 8/10 Bioshock Infinite's gameplay is some of the best in the series. Unfortunately, I found myself sticking to the same two weapons the entire game because while there are gun upgrade shops, vigor upgrade shops, and ammunition shops, there are no weapon shops themselves. The gameplay was still a blast, however it would have been nice to have had the option to switch back to a weapon after trying a new one out. Vigors are to Columbia as plasmids are to Rapture. Vigors added a unique twist to the FPS side of the gameplay and many allowed for a variety of playstyles. For instance, the Bucking Bronco vigor could be for all out gunzerker mode while the Possession vigor was more geared towards strategic players. Finally, the gear in Bioshock Infinite was really under powered. Sure there were some neat little bonuses to the gameplay but overall it was minuscule.

Overall: 8.5/10
