An upgrade from the first.Xpire | March 2, 2014 | Review of Borderlands 2
Liked the prequel, loved this one. I would agree that playing it with friends is way better than playing it alone but I'd beg to differ that playing single player is boring. Maybe I'm just biased. Either way, Borderlands 2 is still undoubtedly fun. Unlike a lot FPS games, this game is also really funny. From claptrap's random spew of gibberish to the one-liners of various NPCs, it really great if you have the right sense of humor.
The gameplay is amazing. Whole lot of fun. Great customization and the looting - gotta mention that!
What I like about its art style and the environment as a whole is that it is very vibrant, filled with bright, cartoonish, vivid colors - like a comic book.
If you have played and liked Borderlands, of course you would have already played this sequel. To those who are having thoughts on whether or not you want to get into this game, don't think any further, just get it and have fun!
Brilliant, brilliant game.Xpire | Jan. 19, 2014 | Review of Kerbal Space Program
First of all I've never been a huge fan of simulator games but, man, did this game change my views of them. Took me quite a while to figure things out or at least, have a rudimentary knowledge on the basis of the game. But after all that is done, hours of my life is taken away from me(in a good way!) because of me trying to find out the best way to launch the ships.
This game makes me wish I knew more about space and science, particularly physics. Have never been that interested in physics when I was in high school but now; things have changed.
If you like space, science, consuming yourself in a game and you love life; get this game.
Close to perfection.Xpire | Dec. 21, 2013 | Review of BioShock
What took me so long start playing this game? First of all: beautiful, beautiful game. The visuals, the atmosphere, the everything about this game is stunning. This game is indeed very unique, certainly quite different from other first-person shooter games.
The story is anxiously captivating. It really draws you into the game. Being quite an enthusiast on philosophy, this game is a gem. Also being a fan of George Orwell's work, you could see an influence he had on this game. What I think ties everything together is the sounds; the soundtrack, the voice acting, the sound effects, etc - all marvelously done.
This game definitely deserves its universal acclaim. If you love first-person shooter, 40s to 60s retro feel and dystopias, get this game. Right now.
Great fun.Xpire | Dec. 19, 2013 | Review of Just Cause 2
Having quite enjoyed its prequel, Just Cause, naturally I would give a shot at this game. I must say, it is better than the first. Being from the South East Asia, it is nice playing a game which is set in, well, South East Asia - though fictional.
First thing I want to say is the graphics. The graphics is decent but it is good for an open-world game back in 2010. But the graphics did not diminish the gameplay at all. The gameplay is great. The story is quite good, too. And if you just want to ignore the campaign and just go around killing and wrecking stuff, then by all means. It is great fun and quite over the top. The only downside is it can get quite repetitive, the story is good but not great, and some bugs & glitches here and there.
Overall, it is a solid game. It is definitely a must-play if you like games like the Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row series.
Good game but not great.Xpire | April 23, 2013 | Review of Dead Island
First zombie game I've played. The trailer makes it seem to be really great but, to be honest, it is quite disappointing. But it is still enjoyable. This is more to a co-op game, single player doesn't work out well. It may seem okay at first, but after a while playing single player, it gets boring. I mean, really boring. So, if you are planning to buy this game, make sure you have someone to play this game with. A few pros are that the graphic is great, it is open-world, the crafting system is kinda nice, and well, for a zombie fan, this is a zombie game. The cons are, as you would have heard, the glitches, repetitive gameplay, the need to play in co-op instead of single player, and for a zombie game, guns are hard to find and is weaker than melee weapons. But overall, still an enjoyable game to play.
Beautiful.Xpire | March 28, 2013 | Review of Tomb Raider Steam
Never was a big fan of the Tomb Raider series, until now. I never did tried any of the Tomb Raider games, so I decided to try this one out since it is just released not long ago. After about an hour into the game, I knew I would love this game. I just realised how much I've missed not playing the other Tomb Raider games. As a reboot, I can not judge this game whether it is any better or not. But as an action/adventure game, this is one of the greatest so far, for me. The graphics are amazing. The gameplay is smooth. The storyline is also great. Had me playing this game for hours, stopping only for toilet breaks. Overall, this game is one of the best I've played this year. This is highly recommended to those who have been a fan of this game for very, very much longer than I was.
One word, three syllables. Amazing.Xpire | Feb. 14, 2013 | Review of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Nexway
This might be the first medieval game I've played, since I'm not really a big fan of olden, medieval games (and also given the fact that I'm not a hardcore gamer) but this was really something. The graphics were amazing, of course. The gameplay is great, too. I mean, with its open world, dragons can randomly appear while travelling to a destination --That's amazing. The other great thing about this, is that you can do some other relatively trivial things, like reading a book and whatnot. People who've played Oblivion should buy this. Overall, one of the best RPG I've ever played. Definitely deserves its critical acclaim.
