A must have for strategy fansbungrudi | Dec. 11, 2013 | Review of XCOM: Enemy Unknown
I have played this title in PS3 before, and it had suck numerous worthy hours of my life. As soon as I got my new PC (only have laptops before) I decided that this going to be a must have game.
One part of the game is about management; you're running a base, funding research, building new weapons, managing a fleet of fighter craft and generally trying to keep a small number of rich and powerful funding nations happy enough to keep on funding you. The other half is tactical game. You're taking a small squad of soldiers out into the field for turn-based combat. There are several class of soldier with their own specialty.
Both part equally weighted and well crafted to make you rush for more dose; a little game before you go to work, after you get home from work, and when having dinner as you can play it when having your meal.
If cannot claim you love strategy games if you don't own XCOM Enemy Unknown. It's a must have, along with Civ V, and Total War series.
And oh.. I bought Elite Soldier Pack DLC just because its on sale, knowing that it wouldn't add anything essential. But boy.. I never knew that making the soldiers look like Power Rangers could be so fun!! The Slingshot DLC also add more customization to the look. Get the DLCs when they're on sale. When they're not, I think the price is a tad to much.
Excellent gameplay never gets oldbungrudi | Dec. 8, 2013 | Review of Rome: Total War
Bought this as part of TW Grand Master Collection.
Graphic is of course outdated; some people say 'a bit', but I'd say 'a lot'. However, the gameplay and vision of the game is long lasting, by a much more scale than any other part of the game that depends on technology. I was planning to just 'peek' the game as it has glorious reviews allover the internet, that I thought it would give me some context of overall TW gameplay and mechanics and a bit history of the series. The next thing I know, I'm garrisoning 3 cities at once and chasing warbands of Gauls; throne of Rome is at sight and 'peek'ing has scaled into fullscale gaming experience.
So this will act as warning to those who seek to 'peek'. There will be no peeking, as you will be hypnotized to fully immersed into the game. Especially so if you're a fan of history and watched Rome TV series.
Not without cons though; the biggest for me is that the AI could have been better. I'm not going to comment on gameplay and mechanics as you can found tons of them on the net and I don't feel like reinventing the wheel.
