A good, solid game, just not Greatchris999 | Sept. 14, 2013 | Review of RAGE
I was one of those who pre-ordered this game and had all kinds of graphical issues at first, especially since my PC was using a Radeon at the time. I was quite upset at the crashing and graphical glitches ...
But then, within days, the graphical issues were solved, and I came to enjoy this game.
I could sum up this game as: "Borderlands-like clone with racing and much smaller in size and scope".
The graphics can be quite nice at times and the racing is quite fun.
I must still say that before I pre-ordered this game, based on the promos, I anticipated another ID epic creation ... but it isn't. It's basically just a fun desert sci-fi romp with a lot of emphasis on vehiccles and some good graphics. This is not a truly open-world game such as GTA or Fallout, etc. Some of the areas are quite large, but you are locked into a track. Often don't even think of being able to climb about the hills and areas alongside the roads. But then again there are some wide areas where you can really tear around in your car and there are ramps for good fun and challenges. There are also important items to collect on the ground. A good game, if you can get it at a great price, for some good weekend fun :) !
Probably the best Superhero game so far ...chris999 | Sept. 14, 2013 | Review of Batman Arkham City: Game of the Year
I will make this review quite simple:
BUY this Game.
If you liked Batman: Arkham Asylum, then you will adore this game.
The area of Gotham City known as "Arkham" is rather large, and though you are indeed confined to just Arkham, it is nevertheless a completely open and rich world to explore. It is a world chock full of items to discover, some very nice Easter Eggs (yes, you can talk to Croc and there is something of Scarecrow - good look finding them). There are tons of Riddler challenges within the game and without. Batman's abilities and controls are great. Catwoman is excellent also. It is hard to think of anything negative. I just hope the new Batman Origins game is of the same quality seeing as it is being developed by WB Montreal and not Rocksteady.
Pretty Good on the whole ...chris999 | Sept. 14, 2013 | Review of Dishonored (Bethesda)
I did enjoy this game - it's different and entertaining. It's a good, solid game, just not a GREAT game like Fallout 3 or New Vegas, Skyrim, etc.
Story is okay, but character development is not that deep. The game is divided into areas, some of which you return to, which are quite large. But this is not at all an open world like other Bethesda games. But those areas are well developed, and offer alternate ways of achieving goals - for example: do I get somewhere on ground, underground, or go up all along the roofs.
There are also good choices of abilities, some of which are fun, such as ability to warp ahead right behind an enemy (which you'll do a lot!).
At times, I really enjoyed the atmosphere - I remember being up along roofs, spotting assassins moving about, and I had to sneak amongst them and find ways to neutralize them - that can be fun and quite scary. And the DLC's really add to the game.
Overall, I can say this game is definitely worthwhile and I look forward to the series evolving.
