Superbly Scary!cuneytarkin | Nov. 13, 2013 | Review of Alan Wake
It's easy enough to draw parallels to both Stephen King and Twin Peaks, and sure they are both there as clear influences. Luckily, Alan Wake manages to do something on it's own and become an engaging and original story that lacks in some of the game-aspects of it. It gets somewhat repeating and non-scary, although there is a dreadful atmosphere constant all the time. Especially those creepy TV-shows that you stumble upon from time to time. To conclude; a great game worth playing if you are into atmospheric stuff.
Batman 3: Still greatcuneytarkin | Nov. 12, 2013 | Review of Batman Arkham Origins
While "worst" in the series so far, Origins is still a great game that plays out like the Batgames we are now used to. It looks great, it's cool to see some new sides of ol' Gotham and I like the way they take story. While the game lacks some logic (grapple accelerator from the start?) it is a damn fun game to play, even though frustrating at times (yes Deadshot, I am looking at you).
Frustatingly awesomecuneytarkin | Oct. 31, 2013 | Review of Super Meat Boy
While extremely frustrating in all it's challenge, Super Meat Boy is also platform done extremely well. Not being retro for retro's sake, this takes you back to the days when you just had to try one million times to complete a stage, and the reward it gave you doing it. The graphics are lovely, the gameplay spotless and while it might be too hard (or maybe I suck too much...) this is a must buy if you are looking for times of fun and anger.
The terror is still out therecuneytarkin | Oct. 31, 2013 | Review of Dead Space 3
Compared to the first game, Dead Space 3 is a more fast-paced and crazy-packed kind of horror experience. You move in open environments, although you are still being attacked by beings worse than anything you can imagine. I really appreciate the whole weapon upgrade system in here, when you finally get some idea as to how it works.
Space sure is one scary placecuneytarkin | Oct. 31, 2013 | Review of Dead Space
Ever since Alien, space sure have been a scary place. Dead Space knows this, and takes advantage of it by throwing nightmare upon nightmare in your face, while you're trapped in the middle of nowhere. The game is only truly scary in the beginning, until you know what you are facing. Twisted creatures are not as frightening as the unknown, as we all know. Besides that, Dead Space boasts a good gameplay, telling a story that's kinda well-written and showing you that space is still scary.
Awesome sequel to a great gamecuneytarkin | Oct. 23, 2013 | Review of Batman Arkham City: Game of the Year
While I don't like the environment as much as the more cramped one in Asylum (yes, I preferred that actually), City does a lot stuff better than it's predecessor. There is more to do, and if you're into the whole Batman lore, it's a candyland for ya to indulge in. The story is great as well, with an ending that won't be forgotten anytime soon...
