Mixed reactions but still a winnerenvail | Aug. 8, 2013 | Review of Fallout New Vegas Nexway - PC
I'm in two minds about New Vegas, it feels a more distant from an apocalypse than Fallout 3 did. Water is generally clean and the colour pallete is A little too vivid and a bit confused to satisfy my post apocalyptic visions. However with no shortage of visual mods available I soon had the game looking just how I liked it, think in atmosphere and forbidding. The stories are well written even if sometimes the subject matter is a bit corny, generally I enjoyed the side missions more than the actual main story. New Vegas tends to deliver in more ways than FO3, bar the visual setting I would recommend it over the previous rendition, although both are worthy. The Fallout series is one of my favourite franchises and this is definitely worthwhile picking up.
Keeping it freshenvail | Aug. 7, 2013 | Review of BioShock Infinite ANZ Post - PC
While I absolutely love this game, I'm not sure I would title it Bioshock. By trying to keep things fresh some of my favourite elements from the original games are missing - no Little Sisters or Big Daddies, no gene splicing lunacy. Mechanically however things remain similar, you still have your plasmids and guns aplenty. In its own right Infinity is great, the transition to a sky city (although a little Rachet & Clank) works well and there are some lovely sections, it's a game that sometimes has you roaming like a tourist just soaking everything in. The story starts well and ends off nicely, but it does tend to give itself a bit of a get out of narrative free card with its explanation and reasoning of certain events. Attention to detail is great but somewhat made a bit pointless due to this. Great game that you really can't go too far wrong with, although it may not sound like it from what I've said, there are a handful of positives for every one negative. Highly enjoyable and entertaining game.
