A great, atmospheric stealth gamegupp | Sept. 2, 2011 | Review of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Augmented Edition
When a new Deus Ex game was announced, I didn't have any expectations. After the horrible reception Invisible War got, I was sure this game would meet a similar fate. Oh, how wrong I was. Human Revolution is a prequel to the first game, and retains the characteristic cyber-punk stylings of the franchise perfectly. Neon lights, dark alleys, grey skies and above all: sunglasses in all weathers! The gameplay is a mix of stealth and first-person shooting, with plenty of depth and opportunities to choose your own path through the complex levels. You could hack a turret to take out the guards, kill them from the shadows, go out guns blazing or simply sneak past everything in your way. It's your choice. And that single, but important word, the word that defined the first game and has now been carried on as the most important characteristic of Human Revolution, is as beautiful as it is simple: choice. I will warn potential buyers that there are problems with periodical stuttering and audio delay for some users (including me), but hopefully these issues will be fixed in a patch.
