An open world gem, after a decadehtp24 | Oct. 30, 2013 | Review of Midnight Club II
Midnight Club II is developed by Angel Studios (now Rockstar San Diego), the very same company who created the venerable Midtown Madness series, which turned racing games on its head. The locales aren't super detailed a la the Project Gotham Racing Series but all the major monuments of cities can be found. If you weren't able to tell, this game is an arcade racer at heart. Physics need not apply as you hurtle yourself over the Louvre. Infused with a hip-hop and EDM tracklist, the races are always an adrenaline rush. With non-taxing CPU requirements, you'll have no problems running this title on almost anything, including netbooks.
Now for the negatives: no licensed cars (but you can generally make out what they're modeled after) and the last few races in career mode can be absolutely rage inducing. Or is that a positive?
