Simple, but well implementedjrojas28 | Sept. 28, 2013 | Review of The Binding of Isaac
A nice game which has its charm in its simplicity. There are no amazing and big battles, tough there are some big guys out there. Can remind you of a sort of zelda-like thing? Altough it cant be considered a puzzle game. Also, the addition of tons of items to get your character bonus stats makes it entertaining to try and explore for new things. Playing it is really gratifying, so I would highly recommend it
Beautiful and Immersivejrojas28 | Sept. 28, 2013 | Review of Bastion [Playfire]
This game is really lovable. It does not focus on combat or any of the sort (In a sense, you could actually win battles by just rolling around and smashing the attack buttons). What really makes this game worth is the Art and more specifically, the narrator. Yes, a Narrator. This voice narrates all of your actions (and even your stupid ones xD I remember he once said "And here's the boy, doing nothing"). It is simply amazing the way this works. In the end, if your focus in a game is story telling and art, this game is for you. If you enjoy fights, then go for something else.
Surviving is a hell that here is enjoyed like heavenjrojas28 | Sept. 28, 2013 | Review of Don't Starve
As someone who was looking for a real HARD game, i wanted this game for a while and soon after got it. it is Awesome. Literally. Take Minecraft, join with Tim Burton's style, and then add up a difficulty that is.. well, cant be explained by words. And you have this awesome, beautiful game which will let you enjoy it for hours. Of course, if you're easily frustrated, don't play it. But if you enjoy a challenge and survival, this game is for you.
The best lego game to datejrojas28 | Sept. 28, 2013 | Review of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes
This was definitely the best lego game I ever played. It was nice to play lego games when I was 10 years old and all that, but it was incredible how this Lego game involved me and my brother (two 18 year-old males) to the point that we liteally finished it 100%. The voice acting gives life to what once was just some funny character made of lego, and the new open world is just beautiful to explore and discover. It's still a lego game to its core (Characters have a main specific ability, you buy cheats, repeat levels...) but above all that, its an awesome experience that EVERYONE should have, be it with family or alone. highly recommend this!
the best way to spend 3 USDjrojas28 | Sept. 8, 2013 | Review of Rochard Pack
At the moment, this gamr is 3 USD and it's worth every single penny. Rochard is a game based on retro style action platformers like Metroid or Castlevania, but this time, it is not focused on combat, but on puzzles.
The game takes up the best of the previously mentioned classics and joins it with puzzle aspects to create a fantastic experience that could last about 6 hours or more when unlocking everything. When it comes to graphics, they are very similar to those of Shadow Complex, with some light shadowy atmosphere to it. Mechanics tend to revolve around pulling and throwing objects or shooting some guys (altough combat is not the emphasis).
The best part of the game, at least in my opinion, are the characters. They tend to be funny andd you learn to care for their relation. The story may be sort of cliche, but characters and gameplay make up for it. Also, the addition to the DLC in this pack, wich provides more puzzles, is really great and enjoyable.
I had this gamr on PSN, but at 3 USD, i HAD to get it again. Highly recommend it to wveryone.
A refreshing view of MOBAsjrojas28 | Sept. 8, 2013 | Review of Awesomenauts
This game is really great when it comes to casual gaming. Unlike usual MOBAs wich follow the traditional Dota style, here we have a breath of fresh air with a 2D platformer like view and still the same amazing fighting and strategy Mobas provide. Games are usually 20 minutes, so as a casual gamer you'll enjoy those short matches that other MOBAs can't provide you. Also, this game has a lor of growth, it started with 6 characters and at thw moment has about 14! With 3 more already fundwd on Kickstarter!
If toy have 10 USD to spend on skins for League of Legends, or stuff in Dota, you should buy this game instead. It's worth every penny.
An excellent addition to fighting game loversjrojas28 | Aug. 31, 2013 | Review of Skullgirls
Skullgirls promoted itself claiming they were making a "fighting game for fans, by fighting games fans" and honestly, they did it right. The game takes arcade fighting games to a pretty decent level, where it could even be one of those EVO games.
Combos and chain attacks are easy to learn, but hard to master. Each character plays entirely different. While some might seem like the usual fighters we find in any arcade fighting game, some are completly unexpected, like Peacock, a character that appears to be common, but unlike the others is mostly a ranged character with few tricks when on close combat, or Squigly (one of the latest additions) who takes on cancels and different positions to do most of her attacks.
Even tough (at the moment) there are only 9 characters, I highly recommend this game, because those 9 characters are sure to bring you a lot of joy when you master them. Also, be aware that 4 more characters are on the way (they were funded in Kickstarter and one of them, named Big Band, has already had a little sneak peak).
In the end, if you love fighting games, this is a MUST BUY. If you don't enjoy fighting games too much, but at least know how to enjoy indie master pieces, you should really check this out, and you will probably love it like i do.
