Best sandbox game.julio77777 | Dec. 12, 2012 | Review of Batman Arkham City: Game of the Year -
After the excellent Arkham Asylum it was difficult to imagine how they would top that, and yet they did. They did an amazing job in creating a game where you are the Batman in a city infested with criminals. You are free to explore the infamous Arkham City the way you want. Combat system is as fun as ever and the svilain casting is impressive. If you like sandbox games or Batman this is a must buy.
Interesting but overpriced...julio77777 | Dec. 12, 2012 | Review of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Dawnguard Nexway
Dawnguard adds a 10-15 hour experience to skyrim, and revemps the werewolf/vampire system with all new skill trees for each transformation.
The Vampire Lord form is really powerful and fun to play with.
The new campaign is interesting, you will have to choose a side beetween vampire hunters and vampire lords, and there are new environments.
All in all it's pretty fun to play but too expensive. I suggest you wait for a deal to buy it...
Definitely a must buyjulio77777 | Dec. 12, 2012 | Review of Dragon Age: Origins – Ultimate Edition
This compilation contains every DLCs (and Bioware is giving away all promotional items on their social network).
This is absolutely amazing, with a unique dark medieval atmosphere, a classic but good story and good characters and interactions beetween them. The DLCs are mostly meh (except the expansion which is really enjoyable) but still worth playing as they add some backstory.
To top it all the modding community has made this game even more enjoyable. You can buy this one with your eyes closed !
Too expensive...julio77777 | Dec. 12, 2012 | Review of XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Slingshot Content Pack
While the content of this DLC is enjoyable (especially the 3 new missions and corresponding maps) this is way overpriced for so few content.
As for the new crew member he is nothing special.
Wait for a deal on this one.
Good deal for even more fun.julio77777 | Dec. 11, 2012 | Review of Borderlands 2 Season Pass -
4 DLCs for the price of 3, and so far with 2 released they are very fun to play and quite long. So why hesitate, it's a great addition to the main game at a bargain price !
Unlimited Fun !!julio77777 | Dec. 11, 2012 | Review of Borderlands 2 DNS
Definitely one the best game of 2012, I of course enjoyed the first game, both in solo and multi, and this one is an improvement.
Story wise you face one of the best villain I've seen in a video game : Handsome Jack, who wants to open the vault once more. Over the course of the game you will meet all the big figures of the first game, while waging war against Hyperion and Jack. You will also explore a lot more of Pandora, with many locations and type of landscape, no more rocks and derserts only, there is now snow greenery, towns etc... that makes the games less monotonous. The quest have more interesting scripts sometimes hilarious, and it's really worth your time to listen to what the characters have to say.
The four new characters are all interesting and balanced with their own playstyle. That makes it interesting to try a new playthrough with a different characters and while the story and quest stay the same the gameplay can change quite a bit. The RPG elements haven't changed much, except you no longer have a level associated to a type of weapon, instead by accomplishing different challenges and actions you get Badass Ranks that give you medals for each medals you can choose a small bonus like more health, more shield, gun damage etc... So by varying your playstyles and using each weapons types and elemental types you can get more badass ranks. A new "element" is now available called slag, it weakens the target making it more vulnerable to all source of damage. As far as weapon types go there is no change, but each weapon has its strong points and flaws, no more super perfect weapon, which is a good thing as it makes you try more the different types and varies the playstyles.
Visually nothing much to say, it's looking really good if you like the type. As far as performance go, you should run it with a medium to high end machine. It's quite well optimised for PC and doesn't have the console port feel so many games have these days. The controls are good too.
The multiplayer is as fun as ever and they added multiplayer bosses to challenge the most hardened Vault Hunters out there.
All in all if you liked the first game or if like shooting things in a crazy fun environement you can buy this game, you won't be disappointed.
Fun zombies bashing.julio77777 | Dec. 11, 2012 | Review of Dead Island: Game of the Year (v1)
This game follow in the footsteps of borderlands, but with survival element.
Storywise there is not much there, a resort island gets infested and is crawling with zombies and the occasionnal psychopaths and as a survivor you try to get the hell out. You have a choice beetween 4 characters each having their own area of expertise, but don't expect much backstory.
Gameplay is all this game is about, to survive you have access to a pretty wide array of weapons, from the club to guns, weapons have durability and while you can repair your most valuable weapons you will certainly have to drop broken weapons and swap for new ones, fortunately they are scatttered all over the island and you never find yourself in a situation where you end up empty handed. A note for guns : munitions are quite rare so if you excpect to shoot your way out of the island, think again. The RPG elements are a welcome addition with 3 skill trees for each characters. While the quests can be pretty dumb (like "we don't have enough food go get orange juice !") It's merely a pretext for you to kill more zombies and explore the island (which is actually much bigger than one would initially think).
This GOTY version includes Bloodbath arena, which is a survival mode where you must defeat wave after waves of zombies, pretty forgettable, but you do get xp and weapons that you can bring into the campaign. The second Rider White is a "incarnate the main villain" DLC where your can have fun with firearms. Not great but still a fun addition after having finished the game.
Graphics are good, and the game performs smoothly even with an old machine.
All in all a very fun game whether you play solo or with friends, a nice replay value with the four characters being different enough to enjoy another playthrough. Worth you money.
A great game !julio77777 | Dec. 8, 2012 | Review of XCOM: Enemy Unknown dns
First, if you expect Xcom as it was with better graphics you can drop your expectations it's not. While it retains most of what made the old Xcom a great game there are differences. It think its main downside is that it's a multi platform game, so it has many limitations that would not exist were it a PC exclusive. But that how video game industry is nowadays, and it's not the game's fault. All in all they made a great job, the challenge can be quite tough (especially in ironman classic), but above all it's fun all the way. If you like strategy games this game is for you !
