A good entry to the Star Wolves series

kai246 | Oct. 27, 2013 | Review of Star Wolves 3: Civil War

Star Wolves 3 is a tactical role playing game. In this you are controlling a spaceship and its crew. You can level up the crews and ships skills and in turn makes you have different abilities to use.

The graphics have aged a bit however upon playing again recently I sort of liked the charm that the graphics have. This may not be for everyone however as it tends to look a bit ugly at times.

The music ranges from good to being sort of out of place and not really needed at certain points. They could have done with maybe tuning down the music a bit to make it less powerful as it doesn't really match the game that well.

Gameplay is very fun once you get into it, however it took me a while to get to grips with everything that was possible. You control the spaceship with the mouse.

Finally if you are looking for something to play with role playing game, I definitely recommend this game.

Not a bad RPG

kai246 | Oct. 3, 2013 | Review of Krater: Shadows Over Solside Collectors Edtion

Krater: Shadows over solside reminded me a lot of the Diablo series, from the combat to the environments. This is however where the similarities end, the game is not a great game due to repetitive combat and quests however does have its moments of class every now and again.

The graphics are very well done and probably the best part of the game, the environments looks amazing and the characters and enemies looks great too.

The gameplay plays like I said before like Diablo, it is a hack and slash game where you use the mouse to click on the attack you want and who to hit. This plays well, however it does end up getting very tedious after a while due to repetitiveness in tasks and not a whole lot of variation.

Good Fun

kai246 | Aug. 31, 2013 | Review of Jewel Quest Solitaire III

Jewel Quest Solitaire plays like you would expect. It is a solitaire game which you can find on your computer already installed. It has nice presentation and the graphics look good. As well as solitaire there is also a match 3 puzzle game which plays a little like bejeweled. This mode is fun and allows for a break from solitaire.

For this price I feel it is a little pricey however if bought I'm sure you will enjoy what you play of it. All in all if you like solitaire and bejeweled I do recommend this for you.

Great Tower Defense Game

kai246 | Aug. 30, 2013 | Review of PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate

Having played a few tower defense games, I have played my fair share of bad ones. Thankfully this isn't one of them.

For me, PixelJunk Monsters is a game where I can play a couple levels at a time and put down for the next session. There is not a lot of depth story wise however its presentation and game play means that I have a blast when playing.

Essentially you are trying to protect your tribe from the wide range of monsters in the game. You do this by building towers each with different abilities. I felt that the towers were balanced in accordance to their cost and the money picked up went up at a steady rate meaning that I never felt cheated when losing a round.

The presentation is great and it is definitely up there for one of the better looking tower defense games I've played.

There are a range of different levels and with co op you can play with a friend, also locally. This game is fun to play and I definitely recommend you try it out.

Great Zombie Adventure.

kai246 | Aug. 30, 2013 | Review of The Walking Dead

I am into games with great stories, and this is just one that blows me away, every one of the 5 episodes provides me with shocks and memorable moments. You grow attached to each character you meet as each person has there own way of surviving and personalities.

There's not a lot of game play to talk about and when there are a few puzzles, they are relatively easy to do. Having said that I didn't come in to this for the game play and neither should you.

As good as Bioshock 1?

kai246 | Aug. 30, 2013 | Review of Bioshock Infinite

Bioshock Infinite is probably my game of the year, the story, game play and graphics all come together to make an astounding achievement in terms of art.

Bioshock is an FPS with a few RPG elements thrown in. Game play wise I feel there could have been a few more vigours to use just to vary up the game play as it does tend to drag on somewhere towards the middle of the game. Also the decision to only pick up two weapons at a time compared to having the whole array of weapons at your disposal in the first game, meant that for me it removed some of the tactics towards the combat. Having said that these are the only niggling problems that I could find in the whole game.

Now we get on to the story, boy is this a great story. I did not see any of the revelations coming and it just left me with me having to pick my jaw off of the ground at the ending. Even if you do not like the gameplay, play this game just to get to the end and witness one of the best stories in gaming unfold.

In terms of atmosphere, I feel Rapture beats out Columbia, however Columbia really is a great place to set a game. The music in the game is phenomenal and again fits in to the story very well. Also going up into Columbia for the first time, mixed with the subtle music playing in the background made the hairs on my arms stand up.

Throughout the game, you will be accompanied with an AI named Elizabeth, she will give to you ammo, salts for the vigours and money. She never gets in the way of the gun fight and only enhances the games quick game play. She has been programmed incredibly well and is one of the best partners to have in a video game.

All in all I recommend this game for anyone who is a fan of great storytelling and atmosphere as Bioshock Infinite is truly astounding.

Greatest Superhero game

kai246 | Aug. 30, 2013 | Review of Batman: Arkham City

Having just played Arkham Asylum (Also Recommend playing), I had to dive straight in to this game. It managed to top everything that had been done in the first game. Gotham City is much bigger than Arkham Island and there's just so much more for the player to do in the world. The Joker is back and the story is great, which I wont ruin for anybody. If you loved the game play of the first then you should like this as the core mechanics are still the same, there's a couple more take downs and different gadgets to use though which mix it up a bit.

The game comes in at around 10 - 12 hours and every moment of it is a blast to play. When you don't want to play the main missions there is a range of side missions each of which has been carefully thought out and planned incredibly well.
