An awesome game for an almost unrealistic price!lucebuce | Oct. 24, 2011 | Review of Bastion [Playfire]
Bastion is,quite frankly, one of the best games of the year.Every single part about it is amazing. The story, the storytelling, the gameplay, the mechanics, the music, the atmosphere, the voice acting, the graphics is all superbly done. The gameplay and atmosphere is amazing and addictive, it really sucks you in to the world and you almost don't want to let it go.If the quality of the game itself isn't enough, you can also know that this game is made by an indie developer so by buying this game , you are not only getting one of the most enthraliing games ever, you're also supporting an indie developer that deserves all the praise they get.
A great game ruined by the developer's greed!lucebuce | Oct. 14, 2011 | Review of Assassin's Creed 2 Deluxe Edition
Assassin's Creed 2 is, to put it mildly, EXCELLENT. I have been a great fan of the original even though it wasn't so popular and this game only expands and improves upon an already great formula.
AC2 has amazing visuals that have a full day-and-night cycle, four distinct cities with four distinct styles and looks and amazing animations and cutscenes.
The gameplay in AC2 is very fast paced as compared to the original. You can climb faster, fight faster, kill faster and move faster. You simply have to play it to believe it. The only gripe regarding the gameplay is that the game is very easy. The ability to perform counter-kills , like the original, is just an instant-kill ability. Coupled with the fact that the AI is not exactly the smartest and that if your health drops too low, you can just block your opponents and wait until it regenarates, the game can be very easy at times.
The story is magnificent coupled with amazing and lifelike voice acting and animations. The main character Ezio is a very devil-may-care character that people can appreciate and relate to. Although I preferred the first game's character , Altair, because unlike Ezio, Altair has been trained his whole life to be an assassin. And although Ezio still has the skills and abilities like parkour and climbing buldings and Eagle Vision, it can sometimes be a little annoying.
The only thing about this game which is really frustrating is the DRM. The DRM makes it so that you can't play the game unless you're always online. This system is horrible for people who'se internet is not that fast or is a little unstable. If you have a fast and stable net connection than this may not be a problem for you, but ultimately, everyone will hate this particular type of DRM and I can only wish that Ubisoft wisens up and gets rid of it for good.
An amazing sandbox game which you should not pass on.lucebuce | Oct. 14, 2011 | Review of Just Cause 2
Just Cause 2 features gorgeous visuals with scenery that includes snow-capped mountains, deserts, jungles, villages and even urban cities. The graphics can really take your breath away sometimes and coupled with 3D vision and Nvidia Cuda exclusive features such as realistic water simulation and Bokeh filters, this game can look simply amazing at the highest settings.
The gameplay is fun and addictive with a plethora of weapons and more can be added by getting the DLCs which are not that expensive. The grappling hook is a really unique feature that adds a whole level of verticality to the game. You can scale buildings, quickly move around, bind two objects together and do with them as you wish ,or simply pull objects or enemies towards you.
The only gripe I have for this game is the story and voice acting. The story is something that you will ultimately not care that much about and the voice acting is horrible to the point where you just can't help but laugh sometimes. But these are two gripes in a game in which you can tell that these were the two areas you will not care about and the developers knew that. The part which you will care about, the actual gameplay, is something that is very refined, fun and extremely addictive.
All in all, this is a game which you should definitely buy and considering how cheap the price is right now, you would be remiss if you didn't buy it.
