Really Goodmassi2323 | May 11, 2013 | Review of Stacking
When I first saw that the game was about russian nesting dolls, I was quite skeptical, however once I began solving puzzles and discovering the unique dolls, I fell in love with the game. It has an amazing sense of humour just from the dolls appearances and their special abilities which are integral to the puzzle solving. The puzzles tend to be a bit on the easy side at times, since it often feels like certain character does a certain thing, which triggers the solution, but since there are multiple solutions finding all of them is the true challenge and will take longer. The graphics are not anything special, but the simple elegance of the world and the dolls is enjoyable. The gameplay is very simple and intuitive, and playing with a controller felt good, but I don't know how the keyboard controls feel. The story and the game's style make you care about the characters from the get go and you feel like you've accomplished something and did good at the end of each level. All in all another fine outing from Double Fine.
Amazing Gamemassi2323 | May 3, 2013 | Review of Tomb Raider Overflow
This is a very good game. The graphics are simply astounding at times, even though I had graphical corruption issues at times since I have an nvidia card. However you can always just google your problem and there is always a solution. That being said, I couldn't get the tressfx hair to work without serious dips in my frame rate, but otherwise the gaming is simply breathtaking to watch at times. The story is quite good and Lara as a character is very well fleshed out and seems like a real human being with multiple sides to her character and real emotions, and its because of this that the other character can seem very one-dimensional at times. The gameplay, namely the shooting, the climbing and puzzle solving all feel very good, even if I did wish that there were more tombs and puzzles to solve. The multi-player however lets the single player experience down and feels much heavier especially when it comes to moving around and shooting. Still this game is more than worth it even if you only play it once, cause the single player campaign is simply so enjoyable and well done, you won't stop till the story is over.
Great Open Worldmassi2323 | May 3, 2013 | Review of Grand Theft Auto IV
GTA IV is a very good game, and more than worth the 4 euros I spent on it. The story is pretty good even if it is weird to see the character you play try to escape his previous life and the war, only to serve mobsters in the story or wreck havoc while just driving around. The voice acting is pretty well done, even if it can be difficult to understand a few characters here and there. The main attraction of GTA IV however is the open world. It is one of the largest in video games and is a faithful recreation of New York City. The jokes in the game are good, and you can find a whole lot of parodies of american culture, like sprunk instead of sprite. The graphics are okay, before you install something like icenhancer or, to a lesser extent, sweetfx. That being said, with such a huge world to explore and things to do, you don't really pay that much attention to he graphics. The combat system is alright, even if the shooting and fighting mechanics feel a bit rough around the edges and awkward compared to third-person shooters. That said, if you have a controller, I highly recommend using it, cause the game is a console port and feels much better with a controller.
Amazing Indie RPGmassi2323 | April 28, 2013 | Review of Bastion [Playfire]
I haven't played many action RPGs and I'm just starting to get into the genre and this game along with torchlight 2 have made me love action RPGs. The graphics are nice and vibrant and seem to almost pop out of the screen as if the Bastion was a real place. The combat system is simple, especially if you have an Xbox 360 controller, though to be fair, I haven't tried the mouse and keyboard configuration yet. The story is brilliant and leads you brilliantly into a choice that I spent a lot of time debating simply because the rest of the game had set up the story so well that it felt like it was always making the right choice for me and all of a sudden I had to choose. The reactive narration by Logan Cunningham is absolutely amazing and lends itself perfectly to this game. The proof that this game is so amazing is that I've bought it for both my PC and my iPad.
Love Itmassi2323 | April 20, 2013 | Review of Just Cause 2
This game is just a lot of fun to play. I cant put my finger on exactly what it is that makes this game so great. Perhaps its the fact that you can take a helicopter up into the air and skydive out of it. Perhaps its the fact that you can scale a skyscraper. I dont know, but for some reason its fun to play. The third person gameplay isnt great. The gun shooting mechanics take a little bit of getting used to, but once you have the hang of it, and with the aiming help provided in the game, youll soon be taking over bases in no time. The graphics while no longer great, still hold up very well over time, and at times in the game I would just take a plane and fly around simply to soak in the beauty of the island. The story is pretty good and has you taking down a maniacal dictator who killed his father, which is more absurd than its sounds in the game, but that just makes it even more fun to play. The progression system is intelligently done, in that the more stuff you blow up and people you kill, the closer you'll get to the next main mission, which forces you to do side missions and destroy every last piece of government property you see. Though it should be notes that I never felt forced to do any of these things, I did it simply because I enjoyed it immensely.
