Replay value is not what it seems

mungchung | May 21, 2013 | Review of The Cave - PC

I have played through this game 5 times and the game becomes more of a chore after multiple plays. Only thing driving me was experiencing all the characters story-lines. My first and second play thrus were very enjoyable and entertaining. It became repetitive and harder to sit and play after that. Each play thru is not random and is more of completing the character's story is a different order. So if you have a previously played character in your starting group, their story will always be the same but doing stuff differently I think can result in different endings. The experience is very unique and I think every fan of this genre should give it a try. But definitely pick it up during a sale if you are on a budget.

Not required but adds another level to the BL2 experience

mungchung | May 21, 2013 | Review of Borderlands 2 Mechromancer Pack Overflow - PC

I am not sure if I would pick this up at the full 10 bux but definitely on a sale. Having a "pet" type class is very enjoyable and there are many skills in the trees to tailor how you want Deathtrap to play. Since resetting skills is easy in BL2, definitely play around with all the skills. People say this is the easiest class to play and it is if you follow the first skill tree line. However, the third skill tree is a bit more advanced and just as fun once you get used to it. If you don't own this, I would recommend you pick this up if you have experienced the original four classes and want another class to play through with.

Time sink at it's best

mungchung | May 17, 2013 | Review of Borderlands 2 NA Overflow 1 - PC

It's hard to say anything negative about this game unless you were nit-picking so I won't. It improves a lot on the formula that was Borderlands. The story and humor are top notch. I was laughing out loud many times throughout my gaming sessions. The quests are very creative and it's heaven for loot hunters. There is a good variety of enemies and some boss fights that are epic. If you enjoyed the first one, this one is a no-brainer. If you haven't played the first one, you should if you are interested in the story line but you can skip it. This is one AAA title that lives up to the hype. Replayability is very high (100+ hrs into it and counting). You just HAVE to try it. Now.

Surprisingly great fun to be had here

mungchung | May 17, 2013 | Review of Euro Truck Simulator 2 STEAM - PC

I'm not known to be a sim guy but this game is VERY fun. ETS 2 just draws me in and I am not certain why. It could be the business running element or RPG like leveling system of the game. I feel a sense of accomplishment after a successful haul. Very immersive and great atmosphere. ETS 2 is relaxing and enjoyable as a break from all the killing and blowing stuff up. SCS has made an accessible and play worthy game for all and not just the niche group. Legitimate fun to be had here (keyboard and mouse work well but at least a game controller recommended or take it up a notch and get a steering wheel for the full effect).

Guns provides some exciting COOP PVP action

mungchung | May 14, 2013 | Review of Guns of Icarus Online - PC

This is one game where the metacritics score should not deter you from trying it out. GMG customer reviews are more accurate =) Very fun Coop-PVP which is created nicely (and I'm not a big fan of competitive PVP for the most part). Great steampunk atmosphere with sleek graphics and exciting gameplay. Fun factor is high on this one and goes up a few more notches if played with a good crew or a group of friends. Plus, the players are helpful and welcoming for the most part and the DEVs are very down to earth and involved within the community.

Sega All Stars is F.U.N.!

mungchung | May 14, 2013 | Review of Sonic and SEGA AllStars Racing Transformed - PC

As far as Kart racers go, everyone knows about Mario. However, you can put Sonic right next to him. I have to say I am enjoying this one immensely. Single-player is your typical progression of "Cup" races or time trial and single race. There are a plethora of characters to unlock in the "Cup" mode. And each one can be leveled up to unlock different "mods" for cars. The music and graphics are really nice and I love the transformations. From my experience, this game is less stressful than it's Mario competitor in the sense that being in first place, does not mean you will get bombarded by traps and end up in last place on the final lap. It feels more like you have to work for first place, and more rewarding when achieved. I've had some really tight and heated multiplayer sessions. I love this game and recommend it to old and new players to this genre!

Sine Mora - Not your typical SHMUP!

mungchung | May 11, 2013 | Review of Sine Mora - PC

Fun twist to the shoot 'em up genre. Time bending mechanics work well to tone down the difficulty but this game is no way a walk in the park. Very challenging and big boss battles with multiple stages to defeating it. Any fan of this genre should pick this up! Took me 5 or so hours to complete the campaign and has good replay value with different game modes. Higher difficulty levels are a killer yet rewarding when completed. Sine Mora is a breath of fresh air to this genre.
