Fun and addicting

I am by no means a professional writer or game critic. The score Im giving this game is based majorly on the amount of time I played it…. A lot. For the most part, I play single player games for the story. I am not saying that the story here was ground breaking, it was ok for what it was. But the oh boy ,was the gameplay fun. Think a simplistic (by which I mean easy to just pick up and play) turn based strategy game where you command a team. But when youre not out doing a mission, you are doing resource management. You are improving your HQ facilities to get better gear. This is a game that had me hooked for hours on end. I would literally take x-com breaks from studying and work to play “just one mission” but I would end up playing for an hour or two.

The ending ruins this game FOR ME

Before any of you complain, let me tell you that this is my opinion. I LOVED the series, I put in so much time and money into it... I even bought a couple of the stupid sweaters (which I might add cost more than the stupid game, go figure) but in my defense, I bought them before this game came out so I didnt know I was going to hate it yet. So, when you devote so many hours of your life, and this half-assed, out of nowhere, ending is what they give you, dont you expect me to get mad? And there is so much wrong with their practices here... they releases a lot of DLC that should have been included with the game... DAY 1 DLC!!! It explained so much from the first game, (Sheppards visions), yet they felt the need to make people pay for it. Again, the DLC Leviathan, that did a better job explaining the ending than the game itself... So call me a conspiracy theorist, but in my opinion, one of two things happened. A. They didnt know what they were doing so they pulled an ending out of their asses, they made it up as they went (and only with the DLC are they back tracking to fill in the various plot holes the left) OR B. they are greedy jerks and they are selling is the REAL ending in bits and pieces for extra money. Take your pick, they are both as bad (incompetence or greediness)

Its a good game, but a little over rated...

Realistically, this game should have gotten something like a 8.5 or 8 out of 10. I really cant see why people are giving it a 10/10. A lot in the story fell short. This feels like M. Night Shyamalan film where the twist at the end feels more like something they had to do rather than something that organic to the story. And the ending literally gave me a headache, which is to be expected when you have time travel and alternate dimensions in your story. All of that is well and good. You can disagree if you want but I bet most people would agree when I say that the stupidest moment in the game was when "oh hey, these tools are too big for us to carry, lets go to an alternate dimension where they are here.... if they arent here, then by all logic, they should be back at the workshop"... if you play the game, you'll know exactly what Im talking about. The combat was pretty good. All of the elements, the melee, the shooting, and the plasmids where really well implemented.... but again, the plasmids where not explained at all here. In the first game, you had the plasmids that were being abused by the people which is why they were going insane, and there was even a reason why the main character wasnt affected by these side effects... that's a very elegantly done story. In this game, they just randomly give you powers with no explanation whatsoever other than they needed plasmids to a true bioshock-esque game. And then there are also ghosts running around.... if this where a movie, it would be a true B+ movie.
