Beautiful story-telling, but not really a "game"

omgtrent | Nov. 20, 2013 | Review of Dear Esther

Dear Esther is very beautiful and the ambiance is great, but it is not a game in the traditional sense. Your only task is to walk through the areas as the story slowly reveals itself. You can move however slowly you like, and look at the details. There are no puzzles, no challenges. You are just there to experience it. And personally, while I did enjoy the experience and the story, I was hoping for something more. I finished Dear Ester in about an hour and a half, and even for a $5 game I like to get at least two or three hours of gameplay before I hang it up. But if you think you would enjoy a melancholy stroll through some very beautiful areas, with a story that makes you think, then it's worth it.

Very fun, but short

omgtrent | Nov. 20, 2013 | Review of Puzzle Agent

A very enjoyable puzzle game set in Minnesota (I know, eh??) with a good sense of humor and an interesting story. Each puzzle is different with instructions provided, which is important as there is no set theme for the puzzles. They also provide hints, though most puzzles should be easy enough for most puzzle buffs, so it's really just a courtesy. The only drawback is the game ends right when you feel you're getting started, but it is indeed quite enjoyable and unique and I don't regret buying it. If you're looking for a "different" puzzle game with a good dose of quirky humor, I recommend!

300 hours and still going!

omgtrent | Nov. 20, 2013 | Review of Borderlands 2 (NA)

If you're a fan of first person shooters and/or role playing games, and you're looking for something fun and addictive you can play with your friends, look no further! Shoot stuff! Blow it up! Grab the loot! Loot loot loot!! DING!! Build your character and choose your gear carefully to match your play-style. Become a GOD. This game has fun and challenging quests, humorous and engaging characters, and a bright and interesting stylized world. Good story and lots of replayability. I've spent a lot of hours playing this game and I'm not done yet. I highly recommend everyone give it a try.

Survive and thrive!

omgtrent | Nov. 20, 2013 | Review of Don't Starve

If you like survival games and/or time management games, and you're keen of a delightfully gloomy twist, say hello to your new addiction! Simple controls assure no wasted time studying tutorials, you can jump right in! But make no mistake, this game is by no means easy. It is VERY challenging! But it is never an unwelcome task. Surviving in the semi-randomly generated worlds fraught with challenges aplenty guarantees endless replay-ability. You can try to tackle the "story" mode, or content yourself to conquer your world in sandbox mode. There are different characters to play each with different strengths and weakness, and perks to match your play-style. One of my all time favorite games, and I highly recommend it to anyone!
