Such a unique experience

redskyy | May 24, 2013 | Review of Bastion Cap

There's something about Bastion that just grabs onto you and doesn't let go. Each location is lush and beautiful, just adding to the immersion. The narrator adds a layer of mystique and intrigue to the game that just makes you want to forge on see what's waiting for you next. Gameplay feels smooth and works well on whatever your preferred control scheme is. There are enough branching upgrade paths and weapons to allow you the choice of your preferred play style.

Although it's not a terribly long game, every moment is enjoyed. Bastion definitely deserves to be checked out.

So much bang for your buck

redskyy | May 24, 2013 | Review of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Nexway

There is just so much to do and experience in Skyrim. The possibilities really feel endless. The world feels so huge and expansive that exploring is one of the most fun parts of first experiencing the game. Outside the main storyline are a variety of side quests and missions, but you can really make your own fun of how you want to play.

I also like the diverse gameplay of each class. Melee, ranged, and magic builds feel very distinct and fun. Add on top of that all the various mods and DLC releases, and you have an endless experience if you want it. Skyrim is a great time sink.

One of the most fun TD games

redskyy | May 24, 2013 | Review of Plants vs Zombies Game of the Year Edition (NA)

Tower defense games are one of my favorite genres, and Plants vs. Zombies is one of the best. The progression is very smooth with each level adding new elements to keep gameplay moving. You're always encountering a new plant or zombie to keep things interesting and add new wrinkles to the gameplay. The different locales also change strategy and your plant loadout, which the game gives a huge amount of choices for.

There are also a few bells and whistles such as mini-games, your own garden, and other things added on. But the meat and potatoes is worth it alone. This is a great time to jump into the series with the highly anticipated Plants vs. Zombies 2 slated to release this summer.

Great blend of sci-fi, shooter, and RPG

redskyy | May 24, 2013 | Review of Mass Effect (NA)

I feel like Bioware got it right the first time with Mass Effect. The world feels very rich and diverse, with all the different species, factions, and various drama making everything feel alive. You end up caring about everyone in your party, and the game makes you make tough choices that have an impact on the overall outcome at the end.

I like the gameplay in the first game the best of the series, since it keeps the RPG elements in play while still having a nice shooter system. Very few complaints with this one, and definitely recommend you start with ME1 if you're playing the series for the first time.

One of the most addictive games in recent memory

redskyy | May 24, 2013 | Review of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition (NA)

I was unsure going into Dark Souls how much I would enjoy it. I had a few problems with Demon's Souls and was worried that it would be the same here. PC port issues aside, this game is amazing. Each area flows right into the other, and the difficulty is challenging without feeling unbeatable. I love the diversity of classes/builds, with skills and equipment having a distinct impact on play style.

The PC port does have a lot of issues, but these are mostly fixed with mods like DSfix. I also definitely recommend playing with a controller for the best experience.
