A visually pleasing game with an empty world

sesprit21 | July 7, 2011 | Review of Mafia II - PC

I was waiting for Mafia 2 since the first one came out in 2002. The first Mafia had an engaging story, great characters and an immersive world. While Mafia 2 is by no means a bad game, it seems that developer 2K Czech was afraid to take risks and made a game that doesn't build on the foundation set by the first game. The story is nothing special and you can see the plot twists coming a mile away. This game is only saved by it's atmosphere. Empire City looks great and while it is a shame that there isn't much to do in it, other than drive from one mission to another, at least you won't get tired of it. All in all, Mafia 2 is an average game that doesn't offer anything new to the sandbox game genre, but is saved from being bad by it's visuals and stunning city.

An excellent sequel to a great game

sesprit21 | July 6, 2011 | Review of Assassins Creed Brotherhood - PC

Assassin's Creed 2 was such a big improvement from the original Assassin's Creed, that it left a lot of people wanting more. Well, here's the new installment in this epic franchise. I am pleased to say that it brings just enough new things to the table (Rome, managing your team, engaging new characters and stories) to suck you right in. The multiplayer is a bit clunky, however they managed to fix a lot of issues. All in all, if you are looking for an epic game with a beautiful setting, interesting characters and stunning visuals, you just can't miss Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

Best basketball simulation game to date

sesprit21 | July 1, 2011 | Review of NBA 2K11 - PC

I approached this game expecting it to be great, but to call it that would be a huge understatement. NBA 2K11 excels on so many levels. First of all, we have to talk about the main selling point to a lot of people - 'His Airness' Michael Jordan. He is integrated into the main game perfectly with a mode of his own, where you get to relive his greatest career moments. The gameplay of 2K11 is top notch - a perfect blend of simulation and fun. You fell like every move counts on the court and momentum swings can help you or have your team bite the dust. The graphics are great as well, however there were some minor glitches, but they didn't interupt the main game. All in all, this is a game I recommend to every sports fan and to casual gamers as well, because it is extremely fun, but quite hard to master.
