Challenging, but entertainingstarjack20 | Jan. 27, 2013 | Review of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition (NA)
This game is NOT for the weak-hearted. This game will take grinding, adjustment, and straight up determination to succeed in. The basic mechanics behind it are that you kill things and they drop souls/equipment. Souls are pretty much a currency in every way, shape and form. Their main uses are to buy items and level up. Now, the things you invest your souls in will heavily affect your play style because certain stats help only certain things. If you are ever having trouble, it's always a good idea to go grind a bit for some level ups and better equipment. There is also not too much direction in the world, and there is a possibility of you getting lost, but it's apart of the game and the experience, an experience that is the most rewarding, triumphant experience out there today if played right.
Perfect Blend of Shooter and RPGstarjack20 | Jan. 27, 2013 | Review of Deus Ex: Human Revolution
This game is, simply put, a masterpiece. It has great graphics, a golden color filter that is very fitting to the setting, and beautiful environments throughout the game. The story is also quite fascinating, and although it isn't the best thing in the game (Not to say it's not good), it is something that is very rewarding when you pay attention to it. The gameplay is very unique in this day and age. The coolest aspect is that there are infinite possibilities to solving any given situation. You could use your strength perk to move a vending machine and travel in the vents, you could silently take out guards one-by-one, or just run through guns a blazing. This game is a great experience and very much worth the price.
Must have for RPG loversstarjack20 | Jan. 22, 2013 | Review of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Nexway
This is arguably the best RPG out there right now. The graphics are simply astonishing on PC, especially with certain mods installed. The gameplay can get a bit dull, but only after a couple hundred hours of gaming you will undoubtedly sink into this game. The main quest line isn't the greatest, but still a decent one. That, along with countless side missions and questlines that are in the game, only continue the development of the world around you. The repetition of certain dungeons involving draugr, falmer, etc. can get pretty old, but this is still a game that all RPG enthusiasts should play in their lifetime.
Not your everyday Zombie-killerstarjack20 | Jan. 22, 2013 | Review of Dead Island
It may seem like your run-of-the-mill zombie game at first, but Dead Island is everything but that. It's story isn't that good, the guns in the game aren't that satisfying, but there are many features that make up for those shortfalls. The melee in this game is one of the more "rewarding" in recent gaming history, the environments are interesting enough that the repetition of the missions doesn't have as great an effect on the players, and the co-op is pure shenanigans when you are playing with friends.
Overall, if you have friends and are into killing zombies, this is the game for you!
THE Co-op Gamestarjack20 | Jan. 22, 2013 | Review of Borderlands 2 (NA) DNS
Simply put, a must play for lovers of both the shooter and RPG genres. It perfectly blends the two into an almost flawless experience. The graphics are one-of-a-kind, and are part of the reasons Borderlands is such an unique experience. There are an innumerable amount of guns in the game, and the chances of getting the exact same gun are slim. If you are playing with friends, this game WILL be one of the best times you will have, and it only gets more fun with even more people present. However, there is a snag in this near-perfect game, that being the single-player. It is still fun, but nowhere near as much as co-op. Some parts in the game can be purely rage-inducing alone, but if you invest enough time into grinding and getting the right guns for your class, it will still be an amazing experience.
