I simply loved the first one and expected so much from the sequel. The best thing is that I wasn't disappointed, but was it better than Arkham Asylum? Yes and No, and here's why: 1) The game excels in combat and gadgets. It's just like the first one on steroids. In that aspect it's better, but for some weird reason fights seem easier. I didn't encounter one boss that gave me real problems. 2) Graphics is also better, but that's just normal considering AC came later. HOWEVER, I don't like the style of the sequel that much. Somehow, artwork, level design, even batman himself, felt more realistic and kind of darker in the first game. 3) Story is good, but once again, AA felt slightly better and more engaging. What makes up for the weaker main story are the side quests and "guest" appearances from some villains. 4) Atmosphere: both games had it. This one felt more alive. I really felt like I was inside Arkham City during play.
I really enjoyed both games in a different way. Arkham Asylum was like a book, which felt linear but loved reading. Arkham City on the other hand was bigger more open, and I'd probably play it again on harder difficulty. No disappointment again!

This game blew me away, and I'm not even a huge fan of Batman. What I noticed at first was that the game tried to stay closer to the comic books, rather than the movie, which felt quire refreshing. It gave me the opportunity to go deeper into the world of Gotham City, it's villains and heroes. Since I mentioned movies, I should say that the experience of playing actually feels like watching a really good movie. 1) Characters - superb voice acting that brings everyone to life. The Joker, Batman, Harley, Riddler(which you never meet in person) and all the criminals got so much volume to them because of the great work actors did! 2) Gameplay - game runs smooth, and combat is intuitive. 3) Level design and atmosphere - you really feel like you're in the actual mental institution when walking around. Level design felt so good. Dungeons, Labs, Bothanical gardens. Even though it's just Arkham asylum, it felt like you're in so many places at the same time. 4) Other - love the riddles, and character tapes. For me personally, it was the best game I've played in a while.
