Good Horror Shooter

thegaminglyfe | Oct. 25, 2013 | Review of Doom 3

Doom 3 is a great game but it doesn't live up to the amazing standards of the classic games. This isn't run and gun at all but no doubt, it's still a great game. The mood and atmosphere is perfect and is very spooky, especially when your only source of light is your flashlight. The thing is that your flashlight is like a weapon so you can't hold hold a flashlight and a gun. Some people might not like this but others, like me, love it. It makes it more scary to be looking around the room and suddenly you shine your light on a monster running at you. Giving the age of the game, it still looks really good. And the sound is still top notch. If you love scary shooter games this is a must buy for you.

One of the Greatest Stealth Games of All Time

thegaminglyfe | Oct. 24, 2013 | Review of Thief Gold

No doubt about it, Thief is one of the greatest stealth games of all time. It's not only an amazing game but without Thief we wouldn't have great games like Splinter Cell. The biggest flaw is the graphics that have definitely aged. But if you can get past that, you are going to have a great time! The game is still a challenge and it is very fun and still a satisfying feeling when you've just completed something very difficult. One of the best parts of this game is the freedom, there are lots of different ways to accomplish your objectives. If you haven't played and beaten this game already, you owe it to yourself as a gamer to do so.

Great DLC!

thegaminglyfe | Oct. 24, 2013 | Review of Civilization V: Scrambled Continents

In my opinion this is one of the top 3 DLC map packs for Civilization 5. The great thing about this DLC is that it keeps the general shape of the map but it randomizes the interiors. Quite a few Civilization 5 DLC's are really not worth buying and not special but this one is not like those. This one is definitely worth buying compared to the others.

A More Hardcore Survival Game

thegaminglyfe | Oct. 15, 2013 | Review of Don't Starve

Recently, when people think of survival games with stuff like crafting their minds go to games like Terraria and Minecraft. But Don't Starve is a much more challenging survival game where you constantly struggle to survive. You start off with nothing in the middle of nowhere greeted by a mysterious man who disappears. You then have to find food so you Don't Starve. And of course supplies for the night. The most important thing other than food is light followed by weapons. You will constantly be challenged by enemies who once in a while you won't be able to run from. And at night it is very dangerous, lot's of monsters unless you have light. So you will need to make a campfire. The soundtrack is spooky and the graphics have a very nice art style. After you die, the game ends and you gain xp that you use towards new characters. Highly recommended if you want a more challenging survival game.

Great Game, but Still some Flaws

thegaminglyfe | Oct. 14, 2013 | Review of Sniper Elite V2

If you are a fan of sniper simulators or want to try one out, give Sniper Elite V2 a try. A really neat thing is that if you want a more casual experience you can try the easiest difficulty, the bullet goes where the scope is pointing to. But if you choose the hardest difficulty you will have to take account things like bullet drop, wind etc. There is a great slow motion camera that shows a graphic display of what damage your bullet caused when it goes into your enemy. Yes, you can see people's skull explode. The graphics aren't the best but they're definitely not bad. The sound is pretty good if you have headphones. The flaws are that the multiplayer is pretty bad and it would be better if they tried to improve on the level design to make it more open ended. It's too linear for a sniping game. And sometimes the slow motion bullet cam slows down the action.

A Bundle of Amazing Games for a cheap price

thegaminglyfe | Oct. 14, 2013 | Review of Batman Super Pack

Back in 2009, Batman destroyed gamer's expectations. The game was amazing, the fighting was fluid and responsive and gave you a complete sense of control. The story was great, something that newcomers and fans of the character would appreciate. The voice acting and graphics were great. Then Arkham City came out, took everything that fans loved about Arkham Asylum and built on it making a better game. In both games, you had a choice of how to take care of enemies. Use stealth and lead the enemies away from each-other. Or fight them head on. And if you did fight them head on you could either use the very addictive combat system or rely on your arsenal of gadgets. Speaking of gadgets, there is a levelling system where you can invest skill points into different categories. You can upgrade things like armour, gadgets and new fight moves. So far Arkham Origins looks like it's going to expand on what made the first two games great. And with a multiplayer mode. For only $62.49, you can get the GOTY versions of two amazing games and get the newest addition to the series.

A Great Sequel but the First is Still Superior

thegaminglyfe | Aug. 11, 2013 | Review of Max Payne II: The Fall of Max Payne

Max Payne 2 is still an amazing game but not as great as the first. The action is still lots of fun but it is a bit easier than the first one. If you want to do a dive you don't need anything in the bullet-time meter. So you can keep diving throughout the game. The story isn't as good as the first one but is still very good. Highly recommended if you liked the first one but don't expect it to be better than the first.

Amazing Game

thegaminglyfe | Aug. 11, 2013 | Review of Max Payne

Max Payne was an amazing game when it came out. The gameplay was very fun and something unique, it looked like something from a John Woo movie. Max Payne tries hard to keep it balanced so that you can't use slow motion the whole game. You have a bullet time meter and you can't use slow motion or go into a dive unless you have something in that meter. The story is great and will immerse you. In between each level it uses a comic strip to show the story. Highly recommended to any action fan.

Very Immersive

thegaminglyfe | June 22, 2013 | Review of Mafia II

Mafia 2 is an amazing Mafia experience. You feel like you're in a Mafia movie. The story is great, the gameplay is great, and the graphics and sound are both exceptional. The gameplay gets a bit hard and frustrating at times but still fun. The game looks like you're actually in a WWII New York and it sounds like it to. Highly recommended to fans of gang and sandbox games.

Addicting

thegaminglyfe | June 22, 2013 | Review of The Darkness II

Darkness 2 has one of the most addicting gameplay features I've used in a game. The demon arms are lots of fun to use and you will spend hours just cutting people open. The story is pretty good but not as engaging as the first Darkness game. I really love the graphics in this game that have the same cartoon style as Borderlands. The game sounds great with little pieces of humour around the game. The guns are lots of fun to use but lets be honest, most people won't even use them when you have the darkness. This game is a must buy and offers and experience that you won't get from most other games.

82

A Unique Experience

thegaminglyfe | June 21, 2013 | Review of Nuclear Dawn

To summarize the concept of Nuclear Dawn, imagine a RTS game except the units are actual players in the server following your orders. One person on each team is the commander and plays the RTS aspect of the game. If you aren't the commander you choose one class and go into game. Each class has it's own special ability like temporary invisibility, extra speed etc. If you want a new, hybrid experience this is the game for you.

94

Addictive Fun!

thegaminglyfe | June 21, 2013 | Review of Mount & Blade: Warband DNS

Mount & Blade is one of those games where you play for hours and can honestly feel that the fun you had makes it worth every minute. There are lots of possibilities of things you can do in the game from making a kingdom or seizing someone else's to doing a skirmish with just you against 100 bots trying to kill you. The gameplay is very unique and challenging and you will spend hours fighting with the swords trying to anticipate other people's moves. Highly recommended to someone looking for an unique experience.

An Amazing Game but Oblivion is Still Better

thegaminglyfe | June 21, 2013 | Review of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Nexway

Skyrim is an amazing game, no doubt about it but it still isn't as good as Morrowind and Oblivion. The game is fantastic though, the graphics are absolutely beautiful and I haven't seen graphics this nice since Just Cause 2. The combat can be challenging or easy thanks to the different difficulty options. There are lots of quests but the problem is that they get repetitive after 20-30 hours. Just like any Elder Scrolls game, the mods are awesome with a great community. The soundtrack fits in with the general atmosphere of the game and is amazing. Yet again Bethesda has created another masterpiece and I highly recommend you get it.

Hack and Slash Mixed With Elder Scrolls

thegaminglyfe | June 21, 2013 | Review of Kingdoms of Amalur - Reckoning - US & Canada

Kingdoms of Amalur - Reckoning feels like a hack and slash game during the intense combat and like Elder Scrolls during the rest of the game. The combat is amazing and requires skill instead of just remembering combos. The RPG elements have lots of depth and is very rewarding. The balance between the two is perfect. The world around you is very rich and you can really start to see how much detail they put into the game! The graphics are very nice with a great art style. The games soundtrack is perfect for the kind of world that you feel you're in. If you like hack and slash games or RPG's, this is the game for you. If you like both types of games, this is the perfect game for you!

Too Many Quick Time Events

thegaminglyfe | June 21, 2013 | Review of Jurassic Park: The Game

The story of this game isn't that good to anyone who isn't a major fan of the movies. But if you loved the movies you'll enjoy it. The graphics are terrible and the game looks like the Back to the Future one. The art style doesn't fit in at all with a serious dinosaur game! The game sounds pretty good but the lip sync is horrible. The action isn't very enjoyable because it consists of too many quick time events. If you like the movies, you should consider getting this on sale. Otherwise just avoid it.

Just as Funny as the First

thegaminglyfe | June 21, 2013 | Review of Poker Night 2

Poker Night at the Inventory was a surprisingly fun game to play and Poker Night at the Inventory is just that. I can't really place my finger on it but it doesn't have the same feel to it and just doesn't feel as fun as the first. But the game is still really fun and still funny, no doubt about it. The characters will make you laugh, especially with GLaDOS as the dealer. If you loved Poker Night at the Inventory like I did, you will like this one too!

Need for Speed With a Focus on the Story

thegaminglyfe | June 21, 2013 | Review of Need for Speed: The Run (NA)

None of the Need for Speed games have had a focus on the story, the games where there were stories were just cutscenes to tie the races and cinematic moments together so things made sense. The story is pretty good in this game and they tried to make some of the non-racing parts of it interactive so they implanted Quick-Time-Events. Quick-Time-Events are basically buttons you press during the cutscenes so he gets out of the car in time, punches the guy in time, catches the ledge before he falls etc. The racing has an arcade feel to it with some difficult drifting that can get on some peoples nerves. The game's story is a bit short but there are lots of well designed, beautiful locations you travel to for the races. Each locations race has its own car, each car is different and they all have their own advantages and disadvantages. That's also a flaw, you can't choose your own car for the races. For $20, this is a must buy for any racing fan.

A Side-Scrolling Survival

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Dead Pixels

Dead Pixels is a zombie survival game that is very addicting to play. And by zombie survival I mean that there are times where you have to figure out what to do because you barely have any ammo left to kill the remaining zombies. The first time I played this game I failed horribly. I just sped through it and ran out of ammo. So it does require some thinking. The game looks and sounds and controls like a game you would play at an arcade. Except not any arcade game, the game everyone lines up to play because it's the best machine. The game really shines though when you're playing co-op with a friend because then if one person hogs all the ammo it's certain death. Highly recommended, great game, great price.

Pretty Mediocre

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller - Episode 2: The Wise Monkey

The game has a very dark atmosphere and storyline. The puzzles require some thinking to do and there are lots of choices to do to determine how your game will turn out. The story has lots development that makes it engaging at times. There are some flaws like repetitive puzzles and boring conversations. It's not my type of game but I recommend you try it.

Hundreds of Hours in One Grand Package

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Total War Grandmaster Collection

There's a reason they call this the "Grandmaster Collection". You will have hundreds of hours with each game. Each game has highly addictive RTS gameplay that you will absolutely love if you like RTS games. Each game is large scale with thousands of soldiers on your screen at once. The amount of detail will amaze you and you will be in awe. Even at the full price off $165, this is well worth the price. Especially because of all the money you'll save.

93

A Massive Scale RTS

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Empire: Total War

Empire Total War is one of the greatest RTS games out there and the best part is that it's not 100% RTS. The campaign is like Civilization and you have to carefully plan each turn where to move each unit and managing your empire. But the great part is that each unit is actually an army so when you go to battle you can let the computer do it or you can go to the battle map and play the battle RTS style. The battles are on a huge scale and the graphics are amazing. You can see all the little details as thousands of little soldiers go to war. It is awesome and I mean that literally. You will be in awe of this game. Highly recommended if you love RTS games or turn based games lke Civilization. If you like both genres then this is the perfect game for you.

A Perfect Example of What Indie Games Should Be

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Space Pirates And Zombies

Space Pirates and Zombies has a very strategic component to it. You start with one mothership and a couple ships and you go around to expand your fleet. You can find more equipment and blueprints so you can make better ships so your fleet is stronger. This may sound easy but it's far from easy. You have to be cautious about where you go next, whether your fleet is strong enough to fight the enemies, whether you can attack them by surprise or they'll assume you're a threat right away etc. But when you do it right, it's a very rewarding experience. The graphics are unique and you can see the immense amount of detail they put into the game. This indie game is truly a perfect example of what indie games should be like and is one of the greatest indie games of all time.

Surprisingly Fun Turn-Based Fun

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Frozen Synapse DNS

Frozen Synapse is one of those games where you don't expect much when you start playing but is surprisingly awesome. Basically, it has the mechanics of a turn based game but everyone's turn is at the same time. So when you're done planning and choosing the actions every unit executes what you told them to do at the same time. So the game involves a lot of anticipating what your enemies might do at any given moment. The campaign is very hard and you will have to plan your every move. The singleplayer really never ends because you can get the game to load a completely random scenario. The multiplayer is great and you don't even have to be online at the same time. You can email your next move to them! If you love turn based games but think that they should be a bit more fast paced this is definitely the game for you.

Great game but Dead Community

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Forge

Forge is a team based arena game with MMORPG style gameplay. There are many different classes that you can use to either go solo or in co-op. The classes are very balanced mostly because when you level up your character's power doesn't increase, you get new abilities and armor. This allows for some customization. There are lots of updates that don't let the game get old so it's hard to get bored of the game quickly. The only big problem is that the community is very dead so it's hard to find others to play with. At $20 this game is a must buy.

An Amazing Sports Game

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of NBA 2K13 dns

NBA 2K13 is an amazing sports game and you will see when you're playing it how much detail the game really has. The graphics are very detailed but like most sports game, there should be more of a focus on the background instead of just what you see on the court. The game sounds very good from the choice of what songs to put in the soundtrack to the sounds of the shoes on the court. The animations look very realistic but there are some bugs like hands going through the backboard, legs going through the ground when the players fall etc. My favorite part is how easy it is for newcomers, there are many different levels of difficulty for NBA game veterans and newcomers to sports games. If you like Sports Simulation games or want to start playing them, this is the game for you.

An Amazing Game

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of BioShock Infinite (NA)

Bioshock Infinite has one of the best stories that you'll ever play through in your life. It's engaging and incredibly interesting. The gameplay is top-notch and addicting. There are different ways to get past enemies especially with all of the different guns and powers. The graphics and sound are both amazing. Oh, remember how you were in awe the first time you played the first Bioshock when you saw Rapture. Just because you're in a different place doesn't mean that won't happen in this game. When you first see where you are in this game you will be in awe just like that other time. After you're finished the game you'll have a very strong urge to do it again, and if you want to beat the game again there is an extra hard mode where you don't have any hud so you really have no idea how much energy or how much ammo you have. Highly recommended to any shooter fan or anyone that appreciates a good story.

76

A Great Mix but Concept Gets Boring Fast

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of The Ball

The gravitational weapon that you get in this is lots of fun to use. Especially killing enemies with it. Using the weapon to manipulate the ball to kill my enemies gives me the same joy that I had the first time I played Trine and only killed enemies by dropping boxes on their head. The puzzle aspect is very unique and you have to find out how to get the ball to different places. There really isn't much of a story, the graphics and sound are decent so my only complaint is how repetitive the game ends up being. After a couple hours you really don't want to keep doing the same thing again and again. If you get this game on sale, it's worth the price otherwise avoid the full price.

82

Good Game but Doesn't Live up to the First Two

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Dead Space 3 (NA)

Dead Space 3 is a good game, no doubt about it but it still isn't as good as the first two games. There are some features brought back like the multiple suits. A new really cool feature is the ability to build guns. But they didn't really put much effort into it and there aren't many guns to build. The co-op is surprisingly fun, but only with a friend not someone you got paired up with online. If you are looking for the same thing as the first two Dead Space games you won't find it here but if you are looking for something scary and fun in coop, this is your game.

Feels Like a Lacking Version of Gears of War

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Damnation

Damnation feels very similar to Gears of War in different ways like the cover system. But unlike Gears of War, there are flaws everywhere. The AI is absolutely horrible and they take too many bullets to kill. Even the weakest AI takes a lot of bullets. The graphics are bad with low resolution textures and bad animations. The sounds are horrible. But somehow this game still manages to be fun. The gameplay is very fun, especially in co-op when you're trying to take out bosses. If you really enjoyed games like Gears of War and want a game with a similar system to it, Damnation is the game for you.

77

A Very Unique Indie Game

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Bad Bots

With lots of generic shooters and indie games trying to be just like the last successful indie game, it's hard to find a good game that can really be unique and give you an experience that you won't get playing any other game. Bad Bots is one of those games that gives you a fresh, unique experience. There are lots of weapons for you to choose from, the enemies are fun to destroy, the bosses are challenging and feel different each time. The only flaw that I can find in this game is how repetitive it gets. My favorite part of the game is the challenge horde where waves of enemies come at you. Don't expect a AAA title when you buy this, but do expect a lot of fun.

78

Good Game but Needs Improvement

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Painkiller: Redemption

Painkiller Redemption follows the same formula as all the other Painkiller games and it still has the same addicting old school FPS feel to it. The graphics are improved but barely, it really is something you won't actually notice unless you look closely. The game sounds good and each weapon sounds very nice. The game needs some improvement in different places. The AI is pretty bad and the level design is very repetitive. If you love the Painkiller series, don't miss out on this.

95

Great Improvements!

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4

Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 has really made some improvements to the Lego games. They all pretty much use the same formula but some games change some things in that formula. Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is one of those games. The level design is improved, the soundtrack is amazing and features some great songs from the movies. The graphics are improved, especially the animations. Like the other lego games, the puzzles are well thought up and will really require you to think. Highly recommended to any adventure or puzzle fan.

87

Brutal, Addicting Fun but Boring by the End

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Dark Sector

Dark Sector is a fantastic game. The action is kind of like Gears of War with a supernatural twist to it. To summarize it, theres a mastermind enemy who has a very dangerous virus so he can start biological warfare, your character gets exposed to it and starts to get more supernatural abilities and a cool thing called a glaive grows onto him. The glaive is kind of like a metal blade on your characters hand. When you first get it and learn to use it, you can't do much with the glaive. Just slice people and throw it. But as you progress through the game you get to do really cool things like use the glaive to absorb elements and use them against enemies. My favorite is one called the afterburner, to summarize your camera follows the glaive when you throw it in slow motion and you can control it. Dark Sector has pretty good graphics and mediocre sound. The story is pretty generic and doesn't engage you very much. The gameplay is where it is really great. But the problem is that by the end when you have most of the abilities the game gets a bit stale and repetitive. If you can handle the brutality, blood and gore, I recommend this to any action fan. You will have lots of fun with it.

90

A Very Unique Puzzle Game

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Tiny & Big: Grandpa's Leftovers

Tiny & Big is one of the most unique puzzle games I've played and it relies heavily on your various tools to cut, manipulate and move the environment around. The game has a very nice art style that looks very beautiful and a great soundtrack even though there aren't many songs. Thera are parts that will make you laugh, the game has quite a lot of humour in different parts of the game. Highly recommended to anyone who's sick of generic puzzle games and is looking for something new.

86

A Stealthy Version of Super Meat Boy

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Stealth Bastard Deluxe

Stealth Bastard Deluxe is a hardcore platformer where you have to sneak into a place and must get pasts lots of enemies and things like security cameras. The way this is similar to Super Meat Boy is how the game is extremely hard and frustrating but makes you determined to finish the level. And by the end of the level you are so proud of yourself that you move onto the next level. If you love platformers this is a must buy.

80

An Underrated Gem With a Focus on Story

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of Alpha Protocol

Alpha Protocol may have some flaws but it is quite good game. The story is very interesting and engaging all the way through the game. It's just like a spy movie or book. Just like Deus Ex, you have many different ways to complete your objective and there's lots of character development. If you like Deus Ex or other similar games, you will love Alpha Protocol.

87

Really Amusing Game!

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of LEGO Batman: The Videogame

The Lego games are an amusing franchise and Lego Batman is an exceptional example of that. There is humor everywhere in the game and the most amazing part about it is that it will make you laugh even without the dialogue. The gameplay is fun and addicting. The level design is clever and there are puzzles everywhere. The puzzles are fun to do and get harder over time. The bosses are just like the puzzles too except they can break your character. You have to figure out the technique to take down the bosses. One really neat thing is that when you die you respawn right away but you lose most of your studs. Studs are basically the currency in the game that you buy things with. The story isn't very good but there isn't much to expect from a lego. Recommended to anyone at any age. It's not just a kids game.

Great but the Original is Better

thegaminglyfe | June 20, 2013 | Review of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

After 4 anxious years of waiting for a sequel, we finally get it. People really didn't like this game because it didn't meet the expectations of the original F.E.A.R but that doesn't mean it isn't a great. The graphics are much better and the game sounds very good. Most of the main features of the original game are still here like the slow motion. There are some new features like iron sights and making cover with the environment. The game is still scary but the problem is that you seem to expect it to happen. In the original F.E.A.R it happens at random times. You would be going down a ladder, you fall into water and suddenly Alma's right in front of you. In the second game, the game gets darker, scary music comes on and it gets too predictable. If you like the original F.E.A.R I recommend you get the sequel but don't be expecting a better game.

96

Even Better Than 2033!

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of Metro: Last Light

Metro 2033 was one of the greatest linear shooters I've played and I am truly surprised to say that Last Light is even better than the first game! The graphics are beautiful from the lighting to the textures. The game sounds amazing from the guns to the soundtrack. Both the graphics and the sound create an amazing atmosphere for Last Light. The gameplay doesn't have as many decisions as other games but there still is the simple run and gun or stay stealthy. The story is interesting and engaging where you meet some very interesting people. Whether you've played 2033 or not, Metro Last Light will amaze you.

A Great Addition to the Red Orchestra Franchise

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of Rising Storm

Red Orchestra has drifted from their roots and moved on to the other parts of WWII that are more common in video games. But don't assume that's a bad thing. Rising Storm is fantastic. The game play is just as realistic and there are even more new features that add to the already amazing realism. One amazing feature is the morale which is basically your soldier's state of mind. Red Orchestra knows it's hard to keep your cool when your squad has just been ambushed by a bunch of Japanese soldiers approaching you very quickly. The atmosphere around you is amazing and the sound, graphics and brutality really add to the atmosphere. Highly recommended whether you've played the other Red Orchestra games or if this is your first realistic shooter.

Surprisingly Awesome

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of Puzzle Agent

Puzzle Agent is another top-notch point and click adventure game from Telltale. Don't look at the game and assume it's a failed attempt by Telltale, it is surprisingly awesome. The artwork is amazing and it really helps create the atmosphere around the game. The voice acting is really good. The story isn't the best but does it's job. The puzzles are nice and require some thinking to get past. But some are just too easy and take only about a minute. This is one of Telltale's really underrated gems and I highly recommend you get it.

78

Great Combat, Clunky at Times

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of The Secret World (NA)

The Secret World has a very different combat system that is really fun to use. It feels like a combination of a hack and slash combat system with lots of dodging and a traditional MMO combat system with the abilities set to the numbers. Unfortunately this feels very clunky at times during combat. The story is very engaging and is very unique from other games. The leveling may be unique but there is lots of depth. The graphics are beautiful, the game sounds very nice and it is easy to pick up for newcomers. I recommend any MMO fan give this a shot.

75

Not Bad, Needs More Polish

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of SimCity (NA)

When Simcity came out people were really mad over the online only DRM and the server crashes. I'll admit it, I hate having to always be online to play Simcity. The original games were my and still are my go to games when my internet is down for some reason. But when you are online, the game is quite fun. The game has nice graphics, some nice sound in the back to accompany you. The city building is much too easy though. There really isn't any challenge in it. It feels too user friendly. The city sizes are much too small and you can't make your awesome dream city like you could in Simcity 2000 or 4. But if you can look past these flaws, the Simcity reboot is very fun and addicting.

An Amazing Game

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of Metro 2033 PRE

Metro 2033 is one of the best games I've beat in the last decade. The atmosphere was amazing in every aspect from the graphics to the sound. The story is very engaging and is definitely well thought up. There are some bugs and some parts of the game that are very difficult. But this game is a must buy for any gamer. Highly recommended.

Amazing Free Running Game

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of Mirror's Edge (NA)

Mirror's Edge is one of the greatest, if not the best free running game of all time. The graphics are beautiful and detailed but seem a bit bright at tines, The controls are very tight and easy to learn and pick up. The game sounds very nice and the soundtrack is perfect. The story isn't bad and feels like a weak attempt to piece together the cinematic moments. There are lots of awesome cinematic moments that are very exciting to play through. Helicopters chasing you, swat teams shooting at you while you're trying to get to the roof of a building etc. Very exciting and fun. If you're looking for a fun free running game this is highly recommended.

Stop Comparing This to Other Bethesda Games.

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of RAGE: Special Edition (International)

Rage was very disappointing to people because they were not expecting the experience that Rage provided them. People were expecting Fallout with more fast-paced combat. This is not that game. The story may be linear but it is still very engaging. The combat is very fun, there are lots of weapons and items that are very fun to use against your enemies. My favorite is the boomrang, which if you aim it right you can hit the head off of an enemy. The graphics are beautiful at times but there isn't usually much to look at in a post-apocalyptic setting. The game sounds very nice from the gunshots to the music. The multiplayer is pretty disappointing though and doesn't feel very fun because of the restriction to vehicles. I feel there should have been more shootouts on foot instead of strictly vehicles. The coop mode is very fun and fills in little gaps in the story. For example when a character in the story mentions some item they might say something like, "My two best men got that out of their hideout a while back." And one of the Wasteland Legends (That's the name of the coop mode) could be you and a friend playing as those two men getting that item filling in small detail in the story. This is a perfect example of the developers attention to small details when they were making this game. I strongly urge that any action fan try this game out. And if you were expecting a Fallout sequel, then this game is still worth trying anyway.

A Great FPS Game But Not as Good as the Original

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of F.E.A.R. 3

FEAR 3 is an excellent FPS game. The controls are nice, they've added some more features and a very fun co-op mode. But it drifts too far away from the original. For example, the slow motion isn't as exciting and detailed. In the original there was lots of detail and you would notice small things like paper like bits of paper flying around the room. There is an extra partner for your coop partner to use who has some very interesting abilities. But if you are playing solo, you can only use the second character when you replay a mission and you choose him. The story isn't that good but very exciting to play through. A big downside is the length. The story is very short and will not take you very long to beat it. The graphics are nice and have a cartoon look, but as I mentioned before, not enough detail. The game sounds good from the soundtrack to the gunshots. There are some new multiplayer modes that are very unique but they get boring after a while. Each game mode revolves around NPC's that aren't controlled by players. The game gets challenging at some points and you will need to make a plan so you can get past these frustrating points. Highly recommended to any shooter fan. If you're looking for a coop game this is a must have. If you're a huge fan of the original FEAR like me this game will be disappointing but fun in a whole new way!

Incredibly Addictive Medieval FPS

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare

There haven't been many successful FPS's set in a previous era. The only ones I can think of is the Mount & Blade series and this one. The combat is amazing and will require you to predict your opponents moves in order for you to hit them. The game is very brutal and you will often notice limbs being cut off dead bodies. Unlike Mount & Blade, the combat is very easy to learn. Mount & Blade is quite complicated. In Chivalry I just looked at the controls, started up a game against bots and got the controls just like that. But mastering the controls is a whole other thing and requires lots of practice. There aren't many game modes but they are very fun! Some of these fun game modes include the usual free-for-all and some new fun ones like Last Team Standing and Team Objective. Last Team Standing is like Counter-Strike. You go in the map and everyone has one life. Team Objective is different in every map. Some objectives are lighting all the signal fires across the map and some are just slaughtering the Heirs to the enemies throne. The soundtrack is amazing and gives a great medieval feel to the game. The same for the very detailed, dark graphics. I recommend that any type of gamer should try this. It is one of the most addictive games I've ever played.

Revolving Around Your Music!

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of Beat Hazard

Beat Hazard revolves around you importing your music (or using some of the music already in the game) to make enemies fight you to the beat of the song. For example, if you import a rock and roll song. The song might start small with drums slowly playing. The game will know this and will bring asteroids to come at you to the beat of the drums. And so on, they will keep sending different enemies at you depending on how intense and the beat of the song. The controls are very smooth and it's very easy to control your ship as you fly around shooting things. The Menu is simple so you can find your songs easily. The graphics are very nice looking and fit perfectly with the style of the game. And the sound, well you choose what you want. Highly recommended if you listen to music when you play games or if you like twin stick shooters.

100% Worth the Price Tag.

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of Need for Speed Most Wanted - Terminal Velocity (NA)

The New Fairhaven Airport Location is lots of fun to play in. The roads are winding and there is lots of space to drive around in considering how small the area is. The buildings are huge and very detailed. The cars are very fast and fun to drive in. They each have their own advantages and disadvantages and fit in with the cars in the base game. The 2 mods are so much fun to use, it is amazing! The new race modes are very fun but the Drift Attack is basically an enhanced version of the race mode from NFS Underground with the same name. The multiplayer milestones are a bonus. At $15, this is a must-have DLC for anyone who owns Most Wanted.

Two Mediocre Games with DLC

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of Jagged Alliance: Collectors Bundle

Both of these games have very high expectations considering how amazing the original Jagged Alliance games were. But if you can take away those high expectations the games aren't that bad. The AI in both games are stupid and their only strategy is to charge at you forcing you to use advanced techniques to stop them. So that's kind of a good thing and bad thing. The graphics look quite nice and looks like you're in a cartoon version of the place your squad is in. The soundtrack is nice and changes depending on where you are. But the gameplay is where it lacks. The controls are very clunky at times, there is bad AI and your squad doesn't always follow expectations. As for the DLC, they're not just cosmetics. For example, the camoflauge DLC may seem like a stupid cosmetic DLC for your squad but it actually helps your characters blend into the environment making the sneaking easier. At $40 this is a very affordable pack. If you are new to the series or if you are willing to let those high expectations go, this is a very enjoyable game.

A Detailed Futuristic World

thegaminglyfe | June 19, 2013 | Review of Mass Effect (NA)

Mass Effect has one of the most engaging stories in any game that I've played. You will keep wondering what happens next and if one person really did the thing they're accused of or not. Each character is very detailed and they each have their own distinct personality. There are many different things you can say to people. Each option levels up your character in one of several different ways depending on what you said. Whether it's helpful, disapproving, neutral etc. The combat is lots of fun and relies heavily on using your squad to help you get to your destination. There are lots of weapons that are futuristic, advanced version of weapons we have today. The graphics are very dark and high tech and you can really see Bioware's attention to detail. The game sounds very nice, from the weapons to the soundtrack when you're fighting. Highly recommended to any RPG or action fan. You will love this game.

Feels Like a Mafia Movie

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | Review of Mafia

Mafia will make you feel like you're in the Godfather or any other similar Mafia movie. There aren't many weapons but the weapons you have are fun to use. There are lots of unique vehicles to drive that adds to the feeling you're in the old days. The story is amazing and immersive. The graphics were very nice when it came out but haven't aged very well. They still look quite nice though. The soundtrack is nice to listen to and sounds very nice. The missions are lots of fun to play through and you will have a great time. Highly recommended to any sandbox and/or action fan.

Amazing Combat and Great for Newcomers

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | Review of Guild Wars 2: Heroic Edition (NA)

Guild Wars 2 is one of the most impressive MMO's in the market right now. It combines some really great elements from other MMO's. For example, The Secret World had a really good idea for the combat but they didn't execute it very well. Guild Wars 2 takes a similar combat system and it is perfect. The story is very immersive and will keep you wondering what's going to happen. The leveling up has lots of depth so it can adjust to people's preferences. And the best part is that it is easy for newcomers if you don't play many MMO's. Highly recommended to newcomers and veterans of MMO's.

One of the Greatest Horror Games

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | Review of Aliens vs Predator Classic 2000

When this game came out, it was truly revolutionary and one of the best games when it came out. And no doubt about it, it's still very fun to play through today. Playing as the Alien or Predator is incredibly fun to stalk your prey and use your unique abilities to take them down. But playing as a marine is when the horror starts. There aren't many light sources, flares, flashlights, nightvision etc. And the worst part is that you know something is following you as you play through the mission which is absolutely terrifying. The game has aged incredibly well and I recommend it for any action or horror fan. Especially if you feel that in modern horror games, it's boring always playing the victim.

72

A Good Game But Not as Good as the First

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | Review of Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days

Kane and Lynch 2 doesn't have the same great feel as playing the original did. The graphics are improved and the co-op is still insanely fun. But the cover system and controls is too clunky and the AI has extremely good aim. The camera gets annoying at times when you are running or in a large firefight. These flaws ruin the game for playing solo. The first game was still kind of fun in solo, but this is horrible in solo. In my opinion, the only way you can have fun is to play in co-op.

An Amazing Game!

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | Review of Borderlands

Borderlands is easily one of the greatest games I've ever played. It is genius to mix ARPG and FPS. And they execute it perfectly. It has elements of an ARPG, large maps that you go around killing monsters for XP, finding loot like weapons and money, developing your character with different skill trees etc. But it's also an action packed FPS, you have huge guns like shotguns and rocket launchers that you have to use properly against enemies so ammo isn't a problem. You will have to conserve your ammo so you don't run out. But just like an ARPG, at the start of the game you have to conserve your potions but by the end of the game you have 100's in your private stash. By the end of this game you will have so much ammo that you don't care what weapon you're going to use. The story is immersive and sucks you in. The graphics are very nice, the world has a very unique cartoon look to it that looks absolutely beautiful. The game sounds really good too, my favorite part of the sound are when the enemies are screaming random things at you when they're fighting you. Very fun, highly recommended to anyone who loves or wants to get into ARPG's and FPS's.

One of the Most Addicting Games of All Time

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | Review of Crazy Taxi

Crazy Taxi is one of the most addicting and challenging games of all time. The concept is simple, pick up customers and drive around the city to get them to their destination while fulfilling their wishes. If they want you to swerve around cars while going at high speeds, then you do that for more cash. If someone asks you to go slow, you can do what they say and have fun or drive fast and listen to them complain but lose some cash. There are lots of challenges and mini games that are so much fun to do. You will spend hours doing the challenges, not even the crazy taxi part. The graphics are nice, especially for the age of the game, the sound works perfectly with the style of the game and the controls are easy to get used to. Crazy Taxi is one of the most affordable games out there considering the hours you will put in. Highly recommended to any gamer if you can stand racer games.

Suspenseful with Great Combat

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | Review of Condemned: Criminal Origins

Condemned is one of the most suspenseful horror games you'll ever played. One part of the game that adds to the suspense is that you are a detective and you've just found some very mysterious clues and you have no idea who the culprit is. The environment is dark and creepy, same with the sound. The combat is lots of fun though. There are many different moves that you can use against the enemies with melee weapons and guns. Highly recommended to any horror fan or just someone who is sick of generic combat systems.

Very Addictive Old School FPS

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | Review of Painkiller: Black Edition

Painkiller Black feels like Unreal Tournament or Quake with an even cheesier story. An assassin sent from heaven. But just because the story is cheesy doesn't mean its fun. There are lots of weapons to blow your way through monsters and 2 or 3 different ways to do it with each weapon. The level design is very good with some narrow hallways for suspense and some open rooms for mobility and different ways to avoid the monsters. The physics and gameplay are both top-notch and very addicting to use. The graphics were amazing when this game came out and they still look quite nice today. The soundtrack works perfectly with the game. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys old school FPS's and games that require you to stay on your feet.

Great Basketball Game

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | Review of NBA 2K11 PRE

Very few sports simulations have got me addicted to their game, but NBA 2K11 has done the job. The gameplay is fast and addicted and you will constantly need to know each players location. Both the opponents players and your teams. The graphics are nice and the soundtrack is chosen well and sounds like the kind of music that would be played in a sports arena when the athlete's aren't playing. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to get into sports games or already a fan of sports games.

92

Amazing but has Some Flaws

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | Review of Sniper Elite

When Sniper Elite came out, it was amazing. There was no other Sniper simulator that could match Sniper Elite. The stealth is amazing and you have to wait for the perfect moment to move into position. After you are in your position you have to make sure everything is lined up before you take your shot and then wait for the right moment. The controls are clunky sometimes during moving and stealth. The sniping is top-notch and is the main part of the game. The graphics are mediocre and the sound is amazing. Highly recommended to any stealth and/or sniping fan.

75

Two Mad Men in Co-op

thegaminglyfe | June 18, 2013 | Review of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men

Kane and Lynch's story is pretty much 2 psychologically disturbed men working together to complete each of their problems. There isn't much of a story to keep you engaged while playing the game. There are parts that get interesting because of some great character development but not much else in the story. The graphics and sound are mediocre, not bad, but not that good either. The gameplay is fun with a big emphasis on cover. If you don't use cover and run around you're probably going to die very fast. The controls are frustrating at some points in the game but don't get in the way most of the time. The best part of the game is easily the co-op. The co-op is very fun and the team needs to work together to survive. If you don't work together death is very inevitable. If you have a partner to play with, this game is highly recommended. If not then think twice before buying it.

92

Nostalgia All the Way Through

thegaminglyfe | June 17, 2013 | Review of Tomb Raider: Legend

The original Tomb Raider games were amazing for their time and when they came out and it is hard for a game to live up to that. And I am happy to be saying that Tomb Raider Legend is better than the old games. The new design, puzzles controls and combat, everything is executed very well. The game is very cinematic with buttons being pushed fast in cut scenes to survive adrenaline filled moments. The climbing and movement is easily the best in the series and very easy to control. The old games haven't aged very well and feel incredibly clunky. This is improved and you are free to move how you wish (with the exception of messing up gravity of course). Highly recommended to any Tomb Raider and/or adventure fan.

91

Just Like a Sequel

thegaminglyfe | June 17, 2013 | Review of Back to the Future: The Game

When I started up this game I wasn't expecting very much. But wow, the game is so good. If you are a fan of the movies, then you will love this game. Each character's personality is just like in the movies. The voice acting is spot on but I can't say the same for the lip-sync. Christopher LLoyd plays the Doc just like in the movies but there is someone new for Marty who does his voice perfectly. But in the game you will notice their lips not moving the right way. The story is exactly what you'd expect from a Back to the Future sequel and is lots of fun to play through. If you've seen the movies, buy this! If not, watch the movies and then buy this!

89

Like a Game in Another Game

thegaminglyfe | June 17, 2013 | Review of SimCity Amusement Park Pack (NA)

To summarize DLC, it's like a dumbed down Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. Building an amusement park inside the city you already built, it is amazing! Normally you would just place the park on a free space but now you can actually build it! There are quite a few bugs and it does get repetitive after a while because of the limited options. But this is still a must-have DLC that's highly recommended to any Simcity player who wants a more immersive experience.

A True Simulation

thegaminglyfe | June 17, 2013 | Review of Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45

Don't let the age fool you, Red Orchestra is still one of the most realistic shooters on the market and is a brutal challenge. The controls feel realistic, don't mistake them for being clunky. The maps are huge with many ways to your objective forcing you to use real tactics like flanking and distractions. After you play for a while, every Red Orchestra game you play starts making you paranoid. Wondering if getting up from behind that tree will mean you getting shot in the head with a sniper and that dilemma of whether you should do it or not. The best part of this game is that the age makes it easy to run so if you can't run the second game in the series, this is just as good. If you can't run this, then get a new computer, seriously. Highly recommended to any tactical shooter and/or simulation fan.

A Great Stealth Game that some Games Still Can't Copy

thegaminglyfe | June 17, 2013 | Review of Hitman: Codename 47

Hitman: Codename 47 isn't a game where you have to avoid people and take your time. This is a very modern stealth game with new mechanics that you must utilise in order to complete the missions. You don't have to sneak past the cop or climb into the building like other stealth games. You can but you don't have to, you can kill the cop and steal his clothes and use them as a disguise to just walk through the entrance of the building and no one will notice. Many games have tried to copy this type of stealth but have failed horribly, only the Hitman series allows you to do this. Some controls and features of the game might piss you off, not everything in this game has aged very well. The graphics and sound are still nice though. The levels are huge and allow you to choose different paths and ways to complete your objective. You can go in with an assault rifle and blow everyone away, or you can go slow, find a disguise and silently kill him with no trace to you. Whether you are new to the Hitman series or have played every one but this. This is a must-buy in both cases.

Huge World, Fun Racing but Slow-Paced for a Racing Game

thegaminglyfe | June 17, 2013 | Review of Ocean City Racing

Ocean City Racing has a huge map with lots of different vehicles to experiment with. Each with it's own unique attributes. The game is a bit slow-paced, there aren't many cars on the street and the city feels dead. I believe that to feel fast-paced, you should be shooting past cars. The races are fast but still don't add to the feeling of being fast-paced because you all seem to be going the same speed. If you are on a budget and want an open world racer for only $5, get this game. But if not, go with something else.

Telltale's Most Engaging Game So Far

thegaminglyfe | June 17, 2013 | Review of The Walking Dead

Telltale has released some amazing point and click games. Some of them are better than The Walking Dead, but none are as immersive. The Walking Dead sucks you and keeps you in the world of Lee Everett. You start the game in the back of a cop car and immediately the game sucks you in and makes you wonder why your character was arrested. There are lots of different characters in the world, each with their own personality and views on the zombies. When you talk to people there are multiple choices of what to say and everything you say matters. For example, no spoilers, if a character talks to you for the first time and you freak him out with what you are saying, he might keep that image of you. And later on in the game if you need his help, he probably won't give it to you. As for the combat, there's not much in place. Mostly click on the knife and then the zombies head. Hit a button or 2. But it's still very cinematic and fun to watch. The graphics look nice, just like the comics and add to already amazing mood and atmosphere of the game. Same with the top-notch sound. The voice acting isn't perfect but it's amazing considering how bad it was for some Telltale games in the past. Highly recommended to anyone who likes story development as a big aspect in the games they play. And if you're sick of all the shoot-em-up zombie games and want a game that really focuses on what it's like being in the middle of a zombie invasion.

Well Executed Hybrid

thegaminglyfe | June 17, 2013 | Review of Sanctum

Sanctum is a hybrid between tower-defence and wave-based fps shooters. And it pulls it off perfectly. There are lots of different high-tech and simple towers with their own advantage and disadvantage. There are also things like walls to guide the monsters into one path so your towers can destroy them. The objective for the monsters is to make it to the other side of the map to your core and destroy it. Pretty generic tower defence. But one big part is the actually fps part of the game. If you don't get into the mess of things and shoot the monsters yourself, 95% of the time you will fail. There aren't many weapons, only 3 or 4 but they are upgradeable throughout the map. One bonus feature that's added in the game is the co-op. You can play yourself or with 3 other people. This makes it so much easier because you can tell him where to shoot and where to place his towers so you can speed up the process. Highly recommended for people who think that there needs to be more strategy in first person shooters.

One of the Greatest Derby Games

thegaminglyfe | June 16, 2013 | Review of Flatout

When you mention racing games with derby elements in them, people think about Flatout most of the time. That's because Flatout is an amazing game! It set the standard for all derby racing games on it's release. The races are fun to do and action packed, there are lots of vehicles with their own advantages and disadvantages. The controls are easy to understand but take a while to really get the hang of and master. The ragdoll mini games are super fun launching your character out of your character. The attention to detail is incredible, you will see pieces of glass and parts from your car fly around everywhere like a real crash. Flatout has aged quite well and the graphics still look nice. Highly recommended to any arcade racing fan.

Useless Cosmetics

thegaminglyfe | June 15, 2013 | Review of Dead Island Riptide: Fashion Victim DLC

The Fashion Victim DLC just contains a bunch of cosmetics that, to be honest, don't even look that nice. They're just plain clothes with no bloodstains on them. The original clothes look better. Not recommended unless you are the few people who actually can't stand the bloodstains on the clothes.

100

Lots of Room for Storage

thegaminglyfe | June 15, 2013 | Review of Stellar Impact: Carrier Ship

This ship has lots of room to store your squadrons. It's not the best for combat, mostly a transport ship. There are fighter squadrons, bomber squadrons, assault ships, drones and tactical bombers which are all extremely useful. Especially the tactical bomber's armageddon bomb. Highly recommended.

90

Overpowered but Useful

thegaminglyfe | June 15, 2013 | Review of Metro: Last Light - RPK

The RPK is very overpowered against enemies. But there are parts in the story that get extremely hard that you need a weapon like this to get through. One downside is that after you buy the DLC you still have to buy the weapon in-game. Highly recommended if you feel the guns are getting boring or the missions are too hard.

63

Not Bad, Could Use Some More Work

thegaminglyfe | June 14, 2013 | Review of Agricultural Simulator 2013

The Graphics are Nice, But look bland and boring at some parts. The physics are amazing though, you can see dirt fly up and the grass shape itself as you go over it in a tractor. The tractors drive just like a real tractor. There are quite a few glitches and the whole trial and error part of the game gets very old fast. Unless you are a fan of games like this, you should really consider before getting it.

A Great Twin-Stick Shooter!

thegaminglyfe | June 14, 2013 | Review of Gatling Gears (NA)

Gatling Gears feels like a 1985 arcade game with a modern feel and some modern features. Lots of players will love this aspect. The graphics are gorgeous and the best part of it is that random parts of the level will break off and fall below. This feature blew me away because I haven't played a game where this just happens randomly. If something like this happens it's always scripted. The controls are easy to use with aiming, moving and shooting your light and heavy guns. There is a 5 chapter campaign not including the prologue. Now onto the gameplay, this game is one of the funnest games I've played in a very long time. The game is easy to get used to and difficult to master. I've spent hours shooting away and blowing enemies apart. It's very addicting. Highly recommended to anyone who likes twin-stick shooters and games that you feel indestructible in.

84

Not Bad but Misses Some Things

thegaminglyfe | June 14, 2013 | Review of Darkspore (NA)

The backstory to this game is pretty interesting involving messing with enhanced DNA and more. But there isn't much of a story after that. Darkspore has the ability to level up, unlock and customize 20 different characters. The customization is sort of like Spore but not as much depth. For example, just like Spore the different parts affect your creatures performance. You can bring 3 characters into battle but only control one at a time. You will have to customize the heroes to your preference so you can bring in the squad you work with best and will be helpful in that situation. One very interesting thing is that each item you pick up has a level. You can't level up your characters by fighting and completing objectives, there level depends on the level of the items they're wearing. The graphics are bland but work with the game's atmosphere. The game is very funny with people in battle saying things like "sue me". The game is very boring on your own and I recommend playing with a partner so the endless level grinding is less easier.

87

Great Addition to the Game

thegaminglyfe | June 13, 2013 | Review of Sid Meier's Civilization V - Civilization and Scenario Pack - Polynesia

The polynesians aren't the strongest at the start but they get much better over time near the end of the game. They can expand quickly, are best on water for fighting and exploring. The scenario isn't the best, just you on some archipelagos fighting AI, but still very fun to do. Recommended for people who focus on their navy.

Feels Like a Serious Burnout Paradise

thegaminglyfe | June 12, 2013 | Review of Need for Speed Most Wanted (NA)

In my opinion NFSMW feels too much like a serious Burnout Paradise. Which is a problem because the light-hearted vibrant setting is what makes Burnout Paradise so good. The gameplay and mechanics are still here from Burnout Paradise. The drifting is easy as long as you balance the accelerator and the brake. The races and activities get extremely repetitive after a while and by the end of the game you're not in the mood to do them. The cop chases aren't as action packed as the original Most Wanted and don't have the same feeling. If you're looking for a true sequel to the original Most Wanted, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a racer similar to Burnout Paradise, this is the game you're looking for.

93

A Short Amazing Experience

thegaminglyfe | June 12, 2013 | Review of Dishonored

Dishonoured is an amazing stealth game. But it doesn't have to be a stealth game. Dishonoured is one of those games where you can go in stealthy and hide the bodies after you're done with them. Which you can do in a lethal or non-lethal way. Or you can go in with a sword and gun and cause chaos and havoc everywhere. It's your choice. The graphics and sound are absolutely top-notch and work perfectly with the atmosphere in Dishonoured. The story isn't the best in a game but will definitely keep you entertained. The only problem with the game is the length. The game length varies on how you do the game. Non-Lethal and stealthy takes only 10-12 hours at the most and going lethal takes even shorter. Highly recommended to fans of games like Deus Ex and Bioshock.

Linear But Fun

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Crysis 2: Maximum Edition (NA)

In my opinion Crysis is a step back from the original but there's no doubt about it, it's still a very fun game. The graphics are amazing, but I still miss the lush jungles of the first Crysis, the gameplay is fun and fast paced and there are multiple ways to complete your objective. Your suit has plenty of abilities that are fun to use and help you in the game. The game sounds amazing. If you're looking for a large sandbox game like the first Crysis, you won't be happy. But if you loved the action and the general feel of the first, you'l like this.

Mindless, Addicting, Zombie Slaughtering Fun

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Zombie Driver

The gameplay in Zombie Driver is incredibly fun with mindless fun. All you do is kill zombies while driving around doing objectives. It's a super simple idea but it is so much fun. The sound is so-so and the graphics are bland. The gameplay where the true part of this game. A great zombie casual game.

77

Fun for a While Only

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Darksiders

Darksiders 2 is a really generic game that gets incredibly boring and repetitive after about 3-4 hours. The gameplay is executed really good but to master it you just have to remember the combos. The sound is mediocre and the graphics are nice. Not recommended unless fan of hack and slash games.

65

A Multiplayer Game that's Completely Dead

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Ravaged: Zombie Apocalypse

This game is only good if you have a full server of co-operative team members. Otherwise it's just a hectic fail of a multiplayer match. Unfortunately neither of those two can be found today. No one plays this anymore, don't get it.

80

Fun and Addicting But Needs More Features

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Lead and Gold

Lead and Gold is an addicting multiplayer western shooter. There are 4 classes which you will need to co-ordinate throughout your team so you are all different classes. There are no bots so it's online only. The problem in this game is that there are not enough game modes and the lack of players. So you will find people playing the only game mode which is boring and repetitive. While it's a good game, the community is near dead so don't get it.

92

Amazing Story

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Alan Wake

Alan Wake has one of the most amazing stories that I've played in a long time. In the first hour, the story will have you sucked in and you will desperately want to know what happens next. The gameplay is new and original requiring light to weaken your enemies before killing them. This game is a true survival and if you don't manage your bullets, flashlight batteries and flares, you will die. The game is creepy and scary and will scare you at times. Definitely buy this game if you're a fan of horror and games with a rich story.

80

Great Zombie Game, But Repetitive

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Dead Island

Dead Island is a very unique zombie experience. There are skill trees, experience etc. like an RPG game. But there are lots of elements from a survival game, you have to plan out how to kill those zombies in your ways, are your weapons good enough.? Will they break? You can be tactical and destroy certain parts of the zombie. The co-op is amazing, this game was meant for playing with friends. Some bad things are the island is bland and boring, the gameplay gets repetitive, classes aren't very different and the quests are boring and repetitive. If you're looking for a dynamic zombie game where your character develops, this is your game.

86

A Great Immersive Mafia Game

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Mafia II dns

Mafia 2 is an amazing Mafia experience. You feel like you're in a Mafia movie. The story is great, the gameplay is great, and the graphics and sound are both exceptional. The gameplay gets a bit hard and frustrating at times but still fun. The game looks like you're actually in a WWII New York and it sounds like it to. Highly recommended to fans of gang and sandbox games.

90

A Great RPG With Multiple Pathways

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Deus Ex Human Revolution is truly worthy of being a Dus Ex game. Just like the original there are multiple ways to beata mission. For example, lets say you need to get into a restricted building. There are multiple ways of doing this. You could go to the guard and press the takedown button to take him down in an awesome fashion and go inside and shoot all the guards. Or you could bribe the guard to get in. Or you could look around the large map for an alternate pathway. The cities in the game are beautiful and seem alive. The graphics and sound or spot-on. The gameplay is epic and cinematic. The story is amazing and original. Highly recommended to fans of the Deus Ex series and newcomers.

90

Different But Still Good

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Max Payne 3

Max Payne 3 is very different from the first two games. But it is still just as good as the first two games. There are still the basic features like bullet-time and shoot-dodge. The game is really fun and I highly recommend you buy it. When I first got the game, I thought the multiplayer would suck. Just a useless feature. But I decided to try it for a couple games and I actually really liked it. It is surprisingly good. The story is amazing and the gameplay is great. The physics are improved in this game. When you dive to a wall, you don't slide down the wall with your head stuck in it. You will actually hit the wall and bounce off it. Highly recommended to action fans.

Amazing Story

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Bastion Cap

The 3 greatest parts of this game that have made this game famous are the narration for the story, graphics and sound. The narrator brings life to the already amazing story making it immersive. The art style of this game is beautiful and works so well with the game. Same thing for the sounds and soundtrack. All three of these things make Bastion one of the most immersive game experiences that you can play. The gameplay is fun and addicting and provides a nice challenge. Highly recommended to any gamer!

A Modern and The Last of a Classic

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Medal of Honor Ultimate Digital Collection (NA)

Medal of Honor Airborne is the last of the classic Medal of Honor games. The story doesn't have to be immersive, you just feel like another soldier in a huge battlefield who did his job. It's amazing how you can choose what order to do your objectives in and how you parachute down. The visuals and sound are amazing. The controls are smooth, slick and responsive. The modern Medal of Honor on the other hand is a very boring reboot. The story is boring, the gameplay is much too easy and the focus was on the multiplayer. But the multiplayer is very bad and gets very repetitive after a while. Lots of players know this and left leaving the servers empty for newcomers. The visuals are nice and the controls nice though. I don't recommend getting this pack for both games. Just buy Medal of Honor Airborne for $10.

92

Has What You Need To Enjoy The Game

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Battlefield 3: Premium Edition (NA)

Battlefield 3's Multiplayer was pretty limited on its own and it felt like the advantage was to the people who bought the DLC. But with this you have the full game and the DLC so your Battlefield 3 experience is the best it can be. The game still has it's problems in the other game modes that the DLC can't fix but what this DLC can fix is the multiplayer. If you want Battlefield 3, get this edition.

An Amazing Tower Defence Game

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Plants vs Zombies Game of the Year Edition (NA)

This game is an amazing tower defence game. At first look it seems like an easy game designed for kids but it is actually a difficult game that requires you to think of where to put your plants and each plants advantages. There's not much of a story but the game sounds appealing. The graphics are nice and they work with the game's light mood and atmosphere. Highly recommended for tower defence fans and people that have the time to get extremely addicted.

A Classic That's Aged Well

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin

Hitman 2 is one of the greatest stealth games of all time. Like the other Hitman games, you can go in guns blazing or get stealthy and blend in with the crowd and pretend like you're one of the enemy. There are many ways to finish a mission in Hitman 2. The maps are large with multiple entryways and exits. The gameplay is fun and challenging. The graphics are nice and the game sounds good. Highly recommended for any stealth fan.

An Original Well-Executed Horror

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Dead Space (NA)

Dead Space is one of the most frightening games I've played in a long time. There are monsters that pop up randomly that are terrifying at first because when you start the game you have no idea how to kill them. The deaths are gruesome with lots of blood that makes you feel guilty for letting your character down. The controls are spot-on, responsive and smooth. The story is immersive and interesting. The graphics and sound work perfectly with the game and will help you to stay immersed in the game. The whole game is unpredictable when the monsters will come. Highly recommended for horror fans.

60

Tries to Hard and Falls Short

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

This game is nowhere near innovative, it still runs on the same engine from Call of Duty 4. The gameplay is boring and much too easy, even on Veteran. No one knows what happened to Call of Duty, before you were just another soldier in just another squad taking out an objective. Now you're almost a god killing thousands of enemies to save the world. The story tries much too hard to be cinematic. In my opinion a game needs to be naturally cinematic as you play it, you don't need slow motion explosion and people getting shot. The graphics look bland in all the maps and are ugly to look at after a while. The music is actually very good and the gunshots sound good. Not recommended for old fans of the series, you'll be disgusted.

70

Great Concept, Fails to Execute it Into A Good Game

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Brink Nexway

Brink has good graphics and sound and great ideas but the gameplay doesn't live up to make a good game. The controls are frustrating and it is much to easy. The only game mode: attack/defense is boring and repetitive. It's simple, one team races to complete objectives and the other team tries to stop them. This game gets repetitive and boring fast but get it if you want a break from generic shooters.

95

A Frustrating But Addictive Platformer

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Super Meat Boy

Super Meat Boy is very hard but is also very addictive. Every single time you mess up a level which will be a lot, you become determined to finish the level until you can't take anymore. The controls are smooth and responsive and the art style and sound are both amazing! If you love platformers, this is a must buy.

Amazing Co-Op Game

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Trine

This game is amazing! It has a simple concept, 3 people with different skills with their souls stuck together. But the puzzles in this game are amazing and require your mind to get through. The graphics are amazing and work well with the sound and overall mood of the game. The combat is lots of fun, especially making boxes and crushing skeletons as a wizard. You will require each different character to make it through each level. But where the game is really amazing is the co-op with 3 people. Each person takes control of a character and you guys have to work together to get past the different puzzles and help each other with your characters skills. Highly recommended game, even if you're going to play solo.

95

Amazing game

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Batman Arkham City: Game of the Year

Fast-Paced gameplay with fighting easier to do combos. Amazing sound, everything sounds perfect, soundtrack is amazing. Huge city with beautiful graphics to accompany it. The stealth is amazing and requires you to think everything out before making a move. Highly recommended for any superhero or action fan.

Goes back to Crysis's Roots

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Crysis 3: The Lost Island (NA)

This DLC is amazing, it takes you back to the lush jungles of the original Crysis. There are four beautiful maps, 2 addicting game modes and 2 weapons that are loads of fun to use. If you feel that Crysis should go back to the jungle, then this DLC is for you!

An Amazing Sandbox

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Grand Theft Auto IV

Gta 4 is one of the greatest sandbox games ever. The story is amazing, the gameplay is fun and addicting, the soundtrack is top-notch, exactly what you'd expect from a GTA game and the graphics are beautiful. Sure the game is more realistic bu it's still lots of fun. The multiplayer is a lot of fun but in my opinion, the San Andreas Multiplayer Mod was much better than the one GTA 4 came with. My favorite part of this game is the AI. You will never see the same person on the street next to each-other like in the old games. Each civilian is set to do their own thing. They'll interact with you, you'll feel like you're really in New York City. Highly recommended for any action and sandbox fan.

85

A Very Unique, But Fun Sandbox

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Bully: Scholarship Edition DNS

Bully is about a really messed up school. There are lots of things to do, you can go to class, or not. Instead you can grab your bike and explore the town, maybe go swimming. It lacks some things and the controls get frustrating. Bully is like playing as the ultimate badass you wanted to be when you were in school, ditching, pulling pranks on the teachers, making out with random girls etc. Definitley buy this if you're looking for a unique sandbox game.

The Best Way to Play Online

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Battlefield 3 Premium Service (NA)

Without the premium service, you are really missing out on Battlefield 3. There are lots of maps, guns and other little extras. Without premium you really feel like you're missing out and this will fix that. The maps are amazing and lots of fun. Definitely get this if you are buying Battlefield 3.

Games Have Potential But Can't Execute It

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Patrician: Complete Pack

Both games are really fun and addicting. Turns out trading sims are a lot of fun! But after a while it gets repetitive and boring. There's an easy learning curve for newcomers. The worst part of the games are the sea battles which are easy and boring. Recommended only for simulation fans and fans of the series.

78

Good Games but Fail Expectations

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Jagged Alliance: Complete Pack

The classic Jagged Alliance games set a very high bar that is incredibly difficult for these games to live up to. But if you don't compare them, it's a good game. There are some bad parts to the game such as terrible AI who just come at you guns blazing. This is kind of a good because it requires planning to counter-attack the AI. Both of these games are enjoyable and addicting and you will have lots of fun with them as long as you don't keep comparing them to the classic games. And it's a great price!

80

Fun, Addicting Game

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (NA)

Mercenaries 2 is an awesome game. There are lots of vehicles like helicopters, cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats etc. Almost every building on the street is destructible and you will have loads of fun destroying things and running around. The gameplay is addicting with lots to do. But there are quite a few bugs and the game tends to get repetitive. Recommended for sandbox fans.

A Scary Brutal Experience

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of F.E.A.R

F.E.A.R isn't the scariest experience unless you're playing at night. There are parts where Alma, the main antagonist shows up randomly and it's terrifying but most of the time it's amazing addicting action. By pressing ctrl you go into slow motion which makes the gore even more awesome. The sound is great too. The guns sound amazing and the music is tense and suspenseful. The AI is sophisticated with flanking you, using grenades properly, noticing small things in the environment. The detail is amazing. With all the settings on high you will notice glass, splinters, paper flying everywhere while killing the bad guys. A must play for fans of scary games and intense shooters.

Fantastic But Some Gameplay Features Haven't Aged Well

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Grand Theft Auto III

GTA 3 is one of the greatest sandbox games ever created and no doubt about it, the most influential. The city is big and feels alive with different people walking down the street. I was so amazed when I was driving and a random gang just got out of their truck and shot up a bunch of people on the street. The AI are that realistic. The soundtrack in the radio in this game is amazing with a huge variety of songs and stations. Some gameplay features are outdated like the driving and shooting but still addicting. Highly recommended game to any sandbox fan.

Amazingly Detalied Open World Game

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

San Andreas is often called the best in the GTA series, and this is 100% true! The map is huge and very detailed. The story is immersive and the gameplay is awesome. San Andreas is the perfect mix between a funny and a serious game. There are lots of weapons and vehicles, assault rifles, pistols, rpgs, boats, helicopters, airplanes etc. Each place is different and has its own little touch to it. And the mods are amazing. There's even a multiplayer mod with support for hundreds of players!

100

One of the Greatest Games of All Time

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

This game was amazing when it came out and is still amazing today. Even if you're new to the Deus Ex series. The story is amazing and there are so many options in every situation. You are very free. I remember smashing my an agent from my own side on his head and hiding his body so I could get into the restricted area in peace. And then I put his body inside the restricted area and locked it. There's an amazing variety of mods for after you're finished the game and for when you're still beating the game.

An Amazing Game That Hasn't Aged Very Well

thegaminglyfe | June 11, 2013 | Review of Worms

Worms is one of the most amazing series and this game started it all. The game is incredibly addicting and you will be hooked for a long time. But the controls and the graphics haven't aged very well. The graphics look horrible on a larger screen and sound and the controls are confused and clunky. But if you can get past these, this one of the most amazing games to play with friends!

70

Good Game, But Could Be Better

thegaminglyfe | June 10, 2013 | Review of The Saboteur (NA)

Saboteur is a game set in World War 2 as a french revolutionary with lots of shooting, parkour, fighting, and of course, sabotaging things. The game is really fun but as you play the game parts of it become very repetitive and you start noticing things that could be better. If you want something historical but not too long ago with great parkour, get this game!

80

Not Bad But Fails Expectations

thegaminglyfe | June 10, 2013 | Review of Battlefield 3 (NA)

Battlefield 3 is a pretty good game but riddled with bugs in every game mode. The campaign is short and not very exciting and the co-op feels like they had 2 or 3 great ideas and every other mission was just so fill in the gaps. The game feels like its drifted away from its roots, every player on the team could be going solo and your team could still win. Back in BF 1942, you either play as a team or lose horribly. The game is great but if you're a hardcore battlefield fan, Battlefield 3 will be disappointing.

80

Fun Game, But Lack a Challenge

thegaminglyfe | June 10, 2013 | Review of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (NA)

Recently, Need for Speed has been drifting away from there roots. The one thing that me and the fans want are the crappy cars so we can have that amazing feeling when you save up enough money to get that shiny lamborghini. When you start this game, you start off with some amazing cars. The game is fun, with some strange handling that leads to some satisfying drifts. The game modes are fun, but make no sense like racing cops? It's a good game and I recommend it.

The Greatest Open World Game I've Played!

thegaminglyfe | June 10, 2013 | Review of Saints Row 2 do not sell

This game is amazing! The world is huge and feels alive. Each part of the world is different from the other. You'll see the change driving down the street. There are missions which don't get very repetitive because they involve you doing really fun things like flying in helicopters to blow buildings up. The side missions are the best part of this game. There are so many like septic truck (shooting sewage at people), Crowd Control (Protecting a celebrity in the most outrageous ways, throwing them into trains etc.), Fight Club and Hitman. These aren't all of them. these are just my favorite to do. The co-op is super fun causing chaos and mayhem throughout the city. There are even co-op mini games like chasing the other person down in a helicopter called cat and mouse. The soundtrack is amazing, there are lots of radio stations hosted by real life celebrities. For example, one of the radio stations, generation x is hosted by Veteran Child, voiced by Neil Patrick Harris! As for the PC problems, thats why we have mods, to fix the problems in the game. Get the mod called gentlemen of the row and everything will be fixed.

Skyrim Legendary Edition is Worth the Extra Money

thegaminglyfe | June 9, 2013 | Review of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition (NA)

Skyrim is an amazing RPG with beautiful graphics, amazing sound and awesome gameplay. There are lots of customizable options for your armour, skills and weapons. And the story is fantastic. But the game gets repetitive after about 30 or so hours. The Legendary Edition comes with 3 dlc packs that add to the game. The first, Dawnguard adds lots of weapons, armour, spells and shouts that make the game more fun. The story is pretty mediocre but the fun comes when you get the decision to become a vampire or werewolf. If you don't like your appearance you can change it in the DLC. The second DLC, Dragonborn adds more spells, armour and locations. This is pretty mediocre and not really worth buying so it's like a bonus when you buy the legendary edition. The last DLC, Hearthfire is simple and loads of fun. You make your own house, a simple concept yet it is amazing. For $60, The Legendary Edition of Skyrim is definitely a buy if you don't already own the original. The DLC will add 10-20 hours to the game so it's worth the price.

88

A Handful of amazing co-op games

thegaminglyfe | June 9, 2013 | Review of LEGO Complete Pack

The lego complete pack contains 5 great lego games. You will have loads of fun playing through each one. There's lots of action, puzzles and humor. The music is great and fits in each game. There are lots of different characters to choose from in each game. The gameplay is not bad and gets frustrating when there are lots of enemies coming at you in the middle of a puzzle. The graphics aren't the best but are great for a lego game and it feels like you're in a lego replica of a movie. Highly recommended for playing co-op, but it's a pass for playing through solo.

My fav. Sims 3 Expansion

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of The Sims 3: Late Night (NA)

Sims 3 Late Night takes place in a downtown of a vibrant city, probably inspired by New York City. Instead of houses there are apartments and penthouses which I think is a very cool addition. At night there are 1 or 2 hot places, which basically means places with lots of other sims in them. You can figure out which places are hot that night with newspapers and the internet. If you go to the wrong club or a party there's a chance it's completely empty. Another addition is vampires, pretty simple. You're active at night, get bitten to become one. My favorite part of this expansion is the fame level. The more famous you are the more people will recognize you at parties. If you're famous you can get past the bouncers with no hassle and become the life of the party. If not famous, you'll have to pay or sneak past.

76

Good weapons, useful credits but no challenge

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Deus Ex Human Revolution: Tactical Enhancement Pack

This comes with a silenced sniper rifle which is incredibly useful and will make stealth a breeze. The double barrelled shotgun will allow you to blow your way through enemies and 10,000 credits can buy you a LOT of useful items in the game. If you want to make your game a bit easier, get this pack when it's on sale, if not stay away. This'll take most of the challenge away.

91

A Great DLC Pack

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Need for Speed Most Wanted Deluxe DLC Bundle (NA)

When you buy this pack, you receive a lot of nostalgic cars that will remind you of the old Need for Speed games. You even unlock a whole new part of the city to drive around in with new billboards, speed gates etc. Half of this new area is fully done and the other half is still being developed so you can drive around in a functional airport and in another part where you drive up and down from the different areas using the construction tools. There are even 2 new race types, Drift Attack and Smash and Grab which are loads of fun. Highly recommended DLC pack, well worth your money.

90

Not scary, but loads of fun to blow through monsters

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Painkiller: Complete Pack Pre

The story in these games are pretty cheesy, hitman from heaven, kill these monsters but it is a lot of fun. There aren't many weapons but each one is fun to use and destroy monsters with and you will find fun new ways to use each gun in new creative ways to kill your enemies. You will need to stay on your feet the whole series watching your back for enemies and surprises. The sound is great to listen to and works well while fighting enemies. The games do get repetitive over after a while but each game has it's own advantages and disadvantages and feels like a new game instead of a bad sequel. The graphics are different in each game but the graphics work with the atmosphere and mood of the game.

85

A Funny Adventure Through Popular Series

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of LEGO Complete Pack

Lego games have always been about puzzles, humor and having fun with friends and each of these games are amazing in each of those aspects. You will laugh throughout the games on how silly and wacky each of these games are. Each game is kid-friendly so if you wan't to play with your kid, brother, cousin etc. It's perfect for that. There are parts where you will run around confused in each game with waves of enemies coming at you until you finish the puzzle that will frustrate you. All 5 of the games in this pack won't disappoint you. The graphics work with the atmosphere of the games, Lord of the Rings makes you feel like you're in a lego version of the universe. Same with Harry Potter and Lego Batman. There's not much sound to rate, the soundtracks are nice and will work with the game you're playing. Especially the Harry Potter games. The games do get repetitive and boring playing solo though so a partner is highly recommended if you plan to get the pack.

90

A Fun Large Scale Shooter

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Battlefield 2 Complete Collection (NA)

Battlefield 2 is one of the best war games out there. The gameplay is fun, addicting and easy to pick up but hard to master. The physics could have been done better though. There are lots of like jets, helicopters and jeeps and simple cars. Each level is different, some in a destroyed city, some on a farm and even some in an industrial zone. The different vehicles and skins your characters get add to the feeling that you're there. For example in one map, there's a muscle car next to a gas station on the edge of the map to add to the feeling that there were civilians here a while back. There are bots to play with but they aren't the smartest but it's still fun to play with them. The online is where it really shines with 64 people on a large map trying to tactically take each location. The music is pretty average but it does it's job. You won't hear it most of the time over the gunshots and explosions which sound amazing. The graphics add to the atmosphere but some maps are bland with not very many colours. Highly recommended to fans of shooters.

90

A Great Simulation, Even Better Experience.

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad

Red Orchestra is one of the most realistic shooters in the gaming industry and Red Orchestra 2 adds to that and makes it even better. If you are a big fan of casual arcade shooters like the new Call of Duty games, you probably won't like this game. In Red Orchestra you have to think about every move, where the enemies are, will you get killed in that building to your left or take your chances through the fences on the right. There are quite a few weapons with advantages and disadvantages that will save your life or kill you in certain situations. The gameplay and mechanics are top-notch and will make you feel like you're actually in WWII. The graphics work perfectly with the setting of the game, same with the sound. Highly recommended for simulation fans.

88

Mediocre on your own, Amazing in co-op!

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

The lego games have always been about humor and puzzles and Lego Batman 2 executes both of those perfectly. One thing that Lego Batman 2 is that they finally added voices for the characters in the game while still managing to keep the humor and even making it better. The gameplay is the same as the previous game, fight people, figure out how to open the door, figure out the technique to fight the boss etc. But one major awesome addition they added is the free roam. You can now navigate around Gotham City with a wide variety of characters. Don't get this game if you're going to finish it yourself, the game is best with someone to play with. You guys can drive/fly/run (yep, Flash) around the city in split screen. The sound is mediocre, not the best but it works for the game. The graphics look nice, but don't expect top-notch graphics from a lego game. In conclusion, a buy if you have a partner to beat it with, think about or wait if you're going to play solo.

Amazing game with fun humor

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Psychonauts

Psychonauts is an amazing, creative game. You won't play many games like this. The art style is creative and nice to look at when you're playing. The game is funny with lots of jokes and silly things like a dentist removing people's brains. You learn lots of psychic powers that are fun to use in combat. There are various puzzles that will make you think of what to do next just because you don't want to fail again. Highly recommended to platformer fans.

Great action game

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Shank 2 (NA)

Shank 2 has very good but generic gameplay. Chain combo on this guy, then press button to counter this guy etc. But it is still loads of fun. There are not many weapons with 3 heavy and 3 ranged weapons. There's a co-op mode for 2 people that is lots of fun to play trying to beat your old score. The story is not very long and can get very repetitive after a while. I recommend you wait for a sale instead of paying $10 for this game.

A beautiful action packed sandbox game

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Just Cause 2

This is my second favorite open world sandbox game, and I've played a lot of games in that genre. The map in this game was the largest in a game when it came out and all of that map was beautiful. The jungles are lush and vibrant, the cities are bright, large and blooming with life. This is the first game I've watched the sunset over the jungle, it was that nice. The story is pretty good and there are about 7 missions. But here's the catch, to progress you must reach a certain level of chaos. You get chaos by doing faction missions, side missions, taking over areas etc. The amount of chaos to unlock the next story mission is quite a bit and will take a long time to get. The combat in this game is amazing, especially because of the grappling hook. You can tie enemies to objects, pull them toward you etc. And yes, you can hook them to your car and drive away. The soundtrack and sound effects work perfectly with the game. For $15, this is a must have steam game.

A Fun Arcade Racer

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Midnight Club II DNS

Midnight Club 2 is definitely not for every racing fan. Midnight Club 2 is back in the old days when you start with the crappy car and make your way up to the amazing, beautiful cars. There are lots of different cars and motorcycles for you to choose from when you unlock them. The cities look nice and the graphics are surprisingly good for a game of it's age. The controls are easy but the handling may take an hour or two to master. The most underrated part of this game is the multiplayer. If you have friends who have this, you can free roam online and spend hours chasing each other down and smashing into each other.

One of My Favorite Strategy Games

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Rome: Total War

Rome Total War is a truly exceptional strategy game. It is amazing to see thousands of soldiers fighting on the map. It's easy to control your soldiers and position them in the correct way. There are 2 main aspects to this game, the managing your armies and empire and the battles. In the managing part you control your armies and can choose where to siege and attack. Like a dumbed down Civilization. The battle is the best part of the game. You can let the game decide which army wins or you can go and do it yourself. This game is all about tactics and strategy. I once beat a whole army with 15 people, it's all about the tactics. The sounds are kind of plain, just people screaming and some not bad soundtracks, The graphics are mediocre but you won't notice, you'll be too busy watching armies go to war. You won't be examining the grass. For $10, this is definitely worth it.

One of the greatest stealth games

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Hitman: Blood Money

The gameplay in this game is truly amazing. The stealth and the way the AI react is very well done. When starting the game it is a bit hard to get a hold of the clunky controls but you'll get used to it soon enough. The graphics aren't the best, the environments are pretty bland but it still looks pretty nice. The best part of the Hitman series has always been the flexibility on how you can finish the missions. Blood Money is perfect for choosing how to do your missions. You can go full stealth in, get a disguise and blend in and slowly get to your destination. Or you can order an assault rifle and it'll be hidden somewhere in the mission. Shoot your way to it and kill everyone in your sight until you get to the target. You won't always beat the mission on the first, you may have to retry until you understand the level design. The biggest flaw of this game is the tutorial in the demo. The tutorial is nothing like the full game. None of the good stealth features are there, no more than one way to finish the mission. So if you buy this game don't stop mid-tutorial. For $9, Hitman Blood Money is well worth the money for stealth and action fans.

Easy, Addicting MOBA

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Awesomenauts

Out of lots of MOBA games, this is probably the easiest to learn. It's really simple, it's 3 vs 3 trying to destroy the other team's turrets so you can get to their core and blow it up. The game is very addicting and you will constantly play the first couple hours just so you unlock all the characters. Each character is unique and your skill with them is all on your preference. There are giant super powered robots and agile melee-based aliens. There is an in game store where you buy power ups for your characters. If you have a high enough level, you unlock a feature where you can choose which power ups are available for you to buy in the store. Where the game is the most fun is the multiplayer. Whether its online or playing split screen, it is loads of fun! There is also an offline feature where you can play with botst. Definitely worth full price.

Zombie Killing Madness

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Killing Floor

Killing Floor is a zombie survival game. You fight waves of zombies and go to the in game shop in between waves. The shop changes it's location every time. There are loads of weapons that are loads of fun to use to blast your way through a zombie horde. The graphics are good but feel way too shiny and bright. There are a ton of maps in the game, and more are coming with updates. The mods in this game are amazing. The steam workshop makes it super easy to mod and get custom maps. Some of the custom maps are even better than the original. The music isn't the best but the gunshots and sound effects are nice. Where this game really shines is the co-op. Grab 5 other friends and play the hardest difficulty with 6 players and you will have a blast! The single player gets boring after a while but the co-op won't get boring for a long long time.

Great platformer with a challenge

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of VVVVVV

This game has a simple concept, arrow keys to move and space to invert the gravity. It may seem easy but it is one of the most challenging platformers I've ever played. The graphics work with the game with all the flashing lights and different colours. The sound also fits in with the happy jamming music. I've never played a platformer like this where when you die for the tenth time you get determined to finish it, not just smash your keyboard. The game is addicting and once you play for about half an hour you won't be able to stop. Definitely buy this game if you are a fan of platformers.

Most Addicting Indie Game I've Played

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of The Binding of Isaac

Binding of Isaac has no tutorial/training. You start in a small room where you learn the simple controls. Move, shoot, bomb and use item. You go in the next room where you have to try to move and shoot at the same time. You walk around and find secrets, items, new arrows to shoot. The game is very hard if you're new but is so addicting and you just can't place your finger on why it is so addicting. The graphics are fresh and original and look different from other games. The game also has good humor. For example, when you die the note says that you leave all your items to your cat gruppy :P. It's not forced but you end up laughing sometimes over small things like this. For the price of $5, it is definitely worth your money. I would pay $10-15 for this game. The one negative thing is when you play a lot and you die, you start from the beginning. And it is boring and repetitive to go through the first basement because it's just too easy. Definitely a buy.

A completely not biased review

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Just Cause

I bought this game on PC back when it came out before Just Cause 2 so I won't compare this game to Just Cause 2. Just Cause is an action-packed adventure through a lush sandbox world. There are lots of epic moments like jumping from helicopter, shooting cops chasing you while you're on the turret. The graphics aren't the best, mostly because of the bland colours and the overuse of bloom and heat mirages. Some of the missions are very hard to do because of lots of people coming at you while you'e protecting something but it doesn't get in the way of the fun. The game has a lot of stunts like standing on a moving car shooting at enemies and moving around the vehicle. There are not many side missions, only a few races. The story is pretty average, not horrible but doesn't stand out. All of these features are really awesome at the start of the game but get repetitive after a while in the game. Highly recommend you buy this game as long you won't let Just Cause 2 shadow the game.

An arcade, vibrant racing game

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box (NA)

Burnout Paradise has taken out every bit of dark and serious racing that the Burnout series had. And they pulled it off extremely well. The graphics are amazing and the city is vibrant and feels alive. The gameplay has taken a more arcade style to it and is very enjoyable. I've never had more fun drifting around in a game. The handling is tight when you need it to be and loose when you want it to be in a drift. The open world aspect is amazing and there are so many different parts to the map. There's packed cities, long highways, industrial areas and open cultivated land. There are quite a few evens like road rage and races that let you take your own route. There's a highlighted route in races but you can go anyway to get to the finish line. And in the road rage, where you have to take out as many enemy cars as possible without taking too many hits yourself, you can go anyway. But be warned, the enemies will be chasing you. This game is highly recommended to any racing fan.

The most cinematic game you'll play

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Sleeping Dogs: Limited Edition

Think of some of the best gameplay mechanics from games in the last century. The fighting from batman, the open world of GTA and Saints Row, the parkour in mirrors edge, the slow motion shooting from Max Payne, the cool driving from Wheelman. And then put them together, the result is Sleeping Dogs. You play as undercover cop Wei Shen in one of the greatest cop stories I've ever come across. The gameplay is fun and addictive. It is quite similar to an action movie, jumping from person to person taking them down and doing jump kicks etc. But unlike other games that the fighting it is inspired by like Batman, Sleeping Dogs is very brutal. There are knives you can pick up and stab your enemies with and throw at people. The shooting has a lot of jumping over obstacles and slow motion and is lots of fun. The driving is tight and responsive and there are lots of cool maneuvers like jumping from car to car and ramming other cars. There aren't many places to do parkour in the city but it is lots of fun. In missions where you do parkour things will break, people will shoot at you and you will do awesome jumps. One thing I love about this game is that it's alive. It feels real, the graphics are amazing so it looks real, and the people are real. Just like Saints Row there are side missions all over the place. Chasing someone, returning something, killing someone. Even spying on people. If you have friends that play this game there is a social feature that compares you and your friends. Every time you do something like a cop chase or chain kills without getting hurt it records the score and compares it. This game is one of the only games I've played that tries to be like a brutal action movie and has been able to pull it off. Highly recommended for action and open-world fans.

Fantastic Game!

thegaminglyfe | June 8, 2013 | Review of Sid Meier's CivilizationĀ® V

The Civilization series has always been hard to learn for newcomers but Civilization lowers the slope of the learning curve. I first played this game at my friends house in a hotseat game. We played all afternoon and all night. Civilization V can be challenging and casual at the same time. There are times where you're just simply exploring and expanding you're cities and it gets a bit tedious. But when you get into a large war with another Civilization you have to use your brain or you will lose. Every turn could mean certain death for your Civilization. There are many ways to beat a game in Civilization V, space victories, cultural victories, diplomacy victories so you don't have to beat everyone else to win. One feature I really liked is after you win you can keep going if you don't want to see hours of hard work go to waste. My favorite part of the game is the hot-seat multiplayer if you have friends over and only one copy of the game. It gets to the point where you are screaming at each other because of a backstab or a stupid move. Highly recommended for fans of strategy. You should know this is not an RTS, this is turn based so if you only like RTS fast paced games, you probably won't like it. But I highly recommend you at least try the demo.
