An Interesting Puzzlerultrapwnd | Sept. 9, 2013 | Review of Q.U.B.E.
Q.U.B.E is quite an interesting game. The game-play reminds me of games like Quantum Conundrum and Portal. You have different commands that control different blocks. It can be quite challenging and fun. But do not expect the level of polish or quirkiness that would be found in Portal or Quantum Conundrum. Graphically wise, it's good and does it's job well. The soundtrack is also quite nice, and has a trance like feel. It sounds very good. The game is also easy to run as it runs on Unreal Engine. For fans of puzzle games. I would highly recommend Q.U.B.E.
A Great Game!ultrapwnd | Aug. 4, 2013 | Review of Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Deus Ex Human Revolution is a very fun game. The story is deep and engaging, and deals with very interesting topics. The gameplay offers multiple play styles and is very fluid. You can choose to use stealth, attack head on, or face your opponents however you want. The upgrade system has a few relatively useless things, but is otherwise well executed. The graphics look great, especially with Direct X 11 enabled. You need not have played the original Deus Ex or Invisible war to understand what is going on here. The only problem is the game can get quite challenging now and then, but otherwise I highly recommend that you play this game as it is an experience not to be missed!
A Beautiful Gameultrapwnd | Aug. 1, 2013 | Review of Bastion [Playfire]
Bastion is a really great indie title. The story is that a Calamity tore the world apart and you are a child exploring the remains of the world. The gameplay is very fun, it has some rpg elements with upgrading. The voice acting is very well done. I couldn't think of a better voice for the narrator. The graphics are top notch. This is easily one of the best looking games I have ever played. Everything is so crisp and detailed, The art style is very pretty to look at. Bastion regularly goes on sale. Every gamer owes it to themselves to play Bastion.
A Good Racing Game to Pass The Timeultrapwnd | July 24, 2013 | Review of Ridge Racer: Unbounded (NA)
Ridge Racer Unbounded it an better than average racing game. The gameplay is fast and fun. You can trigger chaotic events and shortcuts. The game has a track creator which can be pretty fun as well. Multiplayer with this game can be fun and hectic as well. Graphically wise it is also very nice looking. This feels more like Burnout than a traditional Ridge Racer, that can be a good or bad thing depending on who you are. One more notable thing is that this game requires Steam to play and does have steam achievements. I would recommend picking it up if you are looking for a fun arcade racer. Do not expect realism or even real cars.
A great 3d sonic game.ultrapwnd | Jan. 22, 2013 | Review of Sonic Adventure™ 2
Sonic adventure 2 is one of the best 3d sonic games to date, The story is that Dr. Eggman has discovered a secret weapon "Project Shadow" or as we later find out Spoiler Alert!(Sorta) Shadow the hedgehog, the story can get kind of convoluted for a sonic game but still is definitely fun. There are 3 Diffirent gameplay modes, Running as Shadow or Sonic, the funnest of the 3, Digging for emeralds as Rouge or Knuckles and Shooting as Eggman or Tails. Shooting and Digging can get boring at times but still are able to keep you entertained. The game is not without it's faults though. It does feel a bit aged, albeit not as much as Sonic adventure. If you want to revisit a great game for your childhood, or are playing this for the first time, I recommend Sonic adventure 2
A celebration of awesomeness.ultrapwnd | Nov. 21, 2012 | Review of Sonic Generations
Sonic generation is probably the best sonic game in the past decade
Let's start with the gameplay, the core of any game, and with sonic generations it has taken the good of classic and modern and put them together in a great package, you get the great side scrolling action of classic sonic and the fast paced 3d sonic. It is all there and it is done right, the stages are redone great and every stage in the game is very fun.
The music is absolutely incredible, this game has the best music in any sonic game ever. Ever. Considering it has some of the best tracks from classic sonic games, and remixed them in modern and classic styles, it sounds completely awesome.
The story is kinda bad, do not expect any drama like in past modern sonic outings but this is a good thing, it is just a reason for classic and modern sonic to be together using time and space. It is not very good but it gets the job done.
On another note it is pretty short even with the casino night DLC which is just a pinball stage, but besides that and the story this is a fantastic game well worth the time of any platforming, or who has fond memories playing sonic games.
A great classicultrapwnd | Nov. 18, 2012 | Review of Sonic 3 and Knuckles [Playfire]
Sonic 3 and Knuckles is a great classic game that any fans of platforming games should own, it has everything a great Sonic game does, great music, great platforming and level design, with very diverse zones ranging from Mushroom Hill to Ice cap. The bosses are all fun and cool. The story is nothing spectacular, Sonic needs to get the chaos emeralds back to stop Dr. Eggman or Robotnik, but that's alright as this was a genesis game and the meat is in the gameplay. Whether you grew up on this game or just recently found it this is a very good game that any gamer should play.
An interesting Storyultrapwnd | Nov. 18, 2012 | Review of Homefront
Homefront pits players in the midst of a hypothetical invasion by North Korea. The story is fairly interesting, but the gameplay is standard military shooter, filled with turret battles and following an AI teammate, you are pretty much doing what the game tells you and are not given much choice. If you like that then alright, this is a game you would enjoy, but if not, you might be looking for a more diverse game, The missions while generic still push the story forward and the locations are pretty diverse. The music is very cool and the presentation is looks really sharp. If you enjoy FPS games with interesting military shooters than Homefront is a game for you.
An Alright Sequelultrapwnd | Nov. 18, 2012 | Review of Crysis 2 (NA)
Crysis 2 is the sequel to 2007's Crysis and 2009's Crysis Warhead. The game has you using the nanosuit in order to stop the alien invasion as well as Cell soldiers. The nanosuit is a bit modified this time around, and the HUD is a little different, the open world of the game is stripped down a bit to make a more linear experience which makes the game easier to run, but removes some of the charm of the first game. The graphics still look very nice, but some may argue the first game has looked better. There is Multiplayer but it isn't very populated. The gameplay mechanics are fun, but for the most part it isnt anything revolutionary. Crysis 2 is a solid FPS that doesn't shake anything up, but is still fun to play.
An interesting gameultrapwnd | Nov. 18, 2012 | Review of Aliens vs Predator Pre
A.V.P is a game set in the Alien Vs Predator Universe, you can play as the Alien, the Marine or the Predator, and each has their own gameplay style, the Alien can climb on walls, the Marine can shoot his gun, and the predator can be stealthy using various assassinations and gadgets. The Multiplayer can be fun if you can find a game or organize a game and the game looks very nice with DX11 features. The story is not overly engaging but it should keep you going. Overall this is a solid FPS that you should get when it goes on sale.
A great Co-op gameultrapwnd | Nov. 18, 2012 | Review of Magicka
In Magicka you play as a wizard, with various magical abilities, as the game progresses you unlock more and more spells, they are interesting to see and the humor of the game is pretty funny, it has lots of references throughout the game to other games such as the legend of Zelda. Magicka is very fun online with friends where you can battle your friends or play the story mode. The graphics look very nice, and the music is well done. The game has a lot of DLC with various areas such as Vietnam. Magicka is a great game and if you like co-op games you should like this one.
One of the best superhero games ever madeultrapwnd | Nov. 18, 2012 | Review of Batman: Arkham Asylum
In batman Arkham Asylum you play as the caped crusader, as Joker has once again escaped from Arkham Asylum. When you arrive there, Joker takes control over the prison, as the story progresses it stays interesting and the missions are very fun. The game mechanics are very well done, you really feel like batman when you play this game, the use of detective mode and batman's gadgets feel very cool. The presentation is very nice and detailed when everything is turned on, and the music is engaging. A very solid title that fans of action games or batman should enjoy.
Very Solid indie titleultrapwnd | Nov. 18, 2012 | Review of Trine
Trine is a beautiful game, the graphics are absolutely beautiful and the gameplay is fun and unique. You play as three characters, the wizard who can levitate objects and create boxes, the thief who can use her grappling rope to swing over obstacles, and the warrior who is very strong and suited to fighting with his sword and shield, these three characters were brought together by the Trine, an artifact the bound their souls. The music and presentation as stated before is amazing. If you do not own this game, please do.
Better than the bestultrapwnd | Sept. 12, 2012 | Review of Batman: Arkham City
When Arkham asylum came out, it was one of the best superhero games and completely shattered expectations by delivering a deep single player story, with fluid combat and really made you feel like batman. It's sequel Arkham City, is better, with more characters, an open world Arkham city, and enhanced game mechanics. The game's story revolves around Arkham City, a new criminal institution where criminally insane patients from Arkham asylum are moved after the events of the first game, The story revolves around new villains such as the penguin and surprise! The joker! The stealth and fight mechanics are made slightly better and cooler feeling. This game will hook you for a while, and is a great experience to be had
What a Game!ultrapwnd | Sept. 12, 2012 | Review of Borderlands
There is a lot of good things to say about Borderlands, it has a huge open world, a variety of good characters and comical cell shaded graphics. The story has you looking for a "Vault" full of treasure and loot, along the way you fill fight bandits as well as other creatures. You will fight these enemies with guns...A lot of guns, the game features a huge amount of guns and you can easily spend hundreds of hours in this game. There is a fair bit of backtracking and the game can get somewhat repetitive in some areas, but there is dlc and new areas you go to to keep things fresh. A very solid game and well worth your time.
Very interesting SHMUPultrapwnd | Aug. 5, 2012 | Review of Beat Hazard
Beat hazard is a very interesting shoot em up in which you play to music, the gameplay is very nice, You can collect powerups to make yourself stronger and make yourself the "beat hazard" which is when there are a lot of flashing lights and sounds and when you are at your strongest(If you are susceptible to seizures this probably is not for you). It looks very pretty but can give you a headache if you look at it for a while. The gameplay can get repetitive as there is no difference in weapons ranging from song to song unless you get the dlc. Overall If you like rhythm games or shoot em up games I would recommend beat hazard, but if you get nauseas or get headaches or seizures I would look elsewhere.
Very interesting TD gameultrapwnd | Aug. 5, 2012 | Review of Sanctum
this is a very interesting TD game in which you can set up weapons but also fight the enemies yourself like a first person shooter. The gameplay is nice and fluid and there is a wide variety of cheap dlc to buy, You can also upgrade your weapons during matches to give yourself an edge. The game can be fun with friends and the graphics are nice and crisp. If your a fan of either genres I recommend this game
A killer Deal for the priceultrapwnd | Aug. 5, 2012 | Review of World of Goo
World of Goo is a puzzle game where you connect peices of goo to form bridges to reach the top of a mountain. The game aslo encourages you to make the smallest bridge as possible to reach the top to conserve goo. The game is very good looking and has a wide variety of levels, some of the music in the game is very well written as well. The graphics are nice and crisp. Overall this game is very good and well worth your time and money.
One of the best TD Gamesultrapwnd | Aug. 5, 2012 | Review of Plants vs Zombies Game of the Year Edition (NA) dns
Plants vs Zombies by Popcap is one of their best games, and an example of a great tower defence game. The game has you controlling the plants, to try and defend your garden and the owner in the house from the zombies that are attacking. You collect sunshine to get more plants. Sunshine drops from the sky or you can plant sunflowers to give them to you. The game starts out easy but picks up over time and does not feel repetitive as you unlock more plants, a different variety of backyards, and zombies which keep the gameplay feeling new. If you like tower defence games at all, I highly recommend Plants vs Zombies.
