GTA Meets Max Payne

vekktorious | July 25, 2014 | Review of Just Cause 2 - PC

Combine the open world atmosphere of GTA and the shooting mechanics of Max Payne 3 and you have the craziness that goes down on the island of Panau. The character plays as Agent Rico Rodriguez, a character with the personality and charisma of an action star, who is sent to Panau to find and assassinate his long time friend. However, the true beauty of Just Cause 2 lies not in it's story, but in it's true openness and freedom. There are so many things to do and try, from stunts to gang wars and explosions, lots and lots of explosions. The modding and multiplayer community for Just Cause 2 are very much alive and will definitely add hours to your playing experience. The game is on sale often and hundreds of hours of fun can be had for extremely cheap. An excellent buy for any gamer.

Don't Expect A COD-Like Experience

vekktorious | July 25, 2014 | Review of Rising Storm - PC

For those seeking an alternative to mainstream shooters like COD, Battlefield, and CS, Rising Storm is a refreshing take on War and the trials of mass combat. Hardcore players will love Rising Storm because of the constant fear of being shot down out of nowhere, and with no killcam. Objectives are far more important than KDR, and you can be shot down with a few bullets. There is a fairly steep learning curve and you cannot expect to be an average player when you begin playing. Communication between squad and team members is key, and every life ticket counts. Choose between the Axis and the Allies, and prepare for combat.

GTA: Boarding School Edition

vekktorious | July 25, 2014 | Review of Bully Scholarship Edition Steam - PC

Think about the absurdity that is the GTA series and apply it to a school setting, then make it more PG and you have BULLY. The game is a console port, and Rockstar didn't do the bets job facilitating this port, but it is completely playable, albeit some tricky but adjustable control settings. The graphics are outdated for 2014, but the gameplay is still hilarious. The player assumes the role of Jimmy Hopkins, a monster of a child with few likeable characteristics, and begins an adventure at Bullworth Academy causing havoc everywhere he goes. You also have to go to class and pass your classes in the game, which is an interesting part of the game.Overall, Bully is a good and fairly entertaining buy when on sale.

Bullet Time!!

vekktorious | July 22, 2014 | Review of Max Payne 3 Steam - PC

Max Payne 3 is an interesting buy, the story may be short (finished in 3 hours) but the gameplay is exhilarating , so sometimes its great for a game to be short but sweet. The plot plays out like a movie, and Max is his usual depressed self. You end up going through a bunch of missions ranging from boat chases to shootouts in the favelas. Bullet time could quite possibly be one of the best shooter mechanics of all time, and it quite frankly diving over a desk with dual pistols and putting copious amounts of bullets into a bandit in slow motion never gets old. There is nothing really new and game changing about about Max Payne 3, but if you can buy it for cheap, then its money well spent.

vekktorious | July 22, 2014 | Review of Fallout 3 - PC

I can't believe I didn't buy this sooner. The graphics may be outdated and the combat system may be a bit wonky, but this game is a great RPG. Think of Skyrim but with guns and a post-apocalyptic setting, and you've got FO3. The levelling and perk system make it so that no player is the same, and there are a ton of guides and walkthroughs that can help make your playthrough even better.
