A great game

victornavorski | May 10, 2013 | Review of Far Cry 3 - PC

Far Cry 3 is clearly the best of the franchise. It takes all the great things from Far Cry 2 (the size of the map, the exploration, the beauty of the environment, ...) and adds a correction to some of the most annoying features from the previous game, like the constant respawn of enemies at checkpoints. In Far Cry 3, you will be alone on an island and will have to fight your way through a large number of enemies if you want to save your friends. Some locals with be there to help you, supplying you with quite a lot of weapons and a few vehicules. You will then be free to do whatever pleases you, rushing the main missions or exploring the island : a large number of sidequests will make sure you never feel bored. Attack and clean outposts, help villagers, repare radio towers, ... The choice is yours. Stay vigilant ! One of the most interesting features in Far Cry 3 is hunting. You will soon find out that the island hosts a large (and sometimes threatening) wildlife. Dogs, buffalos, tigers or sharks, you will be able to track them, kill them, skin them, and craft some equipement that will help you for the rest of the game. Chose your playstyle ! Be a soldier of fortune with an assault rifle, a sniper that kills from the other side of the valley, or simply a man with a powerful and silent bow and a machete. You will also be able to gain skills with your experience, allowing you to further customise your character. So Far Cry 3 is clearly one of the best FPS of his generation. You will no doubt feel like you are the hero of the story, and that's probably the best thing about the game.
