Great Cute Puzzle Gamevoltronx | April 16, 2011 | Review of World of Goo
This is a great indie puzzle game. Very addicting too.
Graphics are very cute and the game is well animated.
Sound is top notch. Goes with the cute thing they have going on throughout.
Controls are very intuitive and easy to pick up. There are different types of goo and they behave in different ways but it's very easy to get used to.
Fun factor is high. Game is easy at first but they ramp up the difficulty but it never becomes rage inducing. You just want to keep playing because it's so fun.
So definitely pick this up if you're into fun physics based puzzle games.
Good cheap funvoltronx | April 14, 2011 | Review of Magicka
If I had to review this game when it initially came out, I would have given the game a lower score because it was honestly a buggy mess. However, the developers have been really good at fixing the bugs and the game is very stable now.
Graphically, the game has a nice polished look to it and the spell effects are done very well. There's a wide variety of enemies and there's plenty of hilarious cut scenes.
Audio wise the music is kind of catchy. The special effects are good. All the characters speak in a mix of Swedish and gibberish. It's kind of funny when you're reading the onscreen text and you're hearing the characters speak.
Control wise, there's definitely a learning curve. You'll kill yourself with a miscast spell a number of times when you first start out. Even now at times I'll still spam the buttons because some of the spells require a difficult combination of key presses. Eventually it'll click and you'll probably rely on a certain number of spells to get you through the game.
The story is very funny and interesting. There's a lot of humorous pop culture references thrown in. Single player is very difficult. Online coop is where this game shines. Everyone ends up killing each other :P
I definitely recommend this game to everyone. Just make sure to try the demo first because it's not for everyone. The price is very nice as well.
Great expansion DLC for a great Indie gamevoltronx | April 13, 2011 | Review of Magicka: Vietnam DLC
The Magicka: Vietnam expansion DLC takes the original game with it's hilarious pop culture references, crazy storyline, and it's chaotic coop and throws everything into war torn Vietnam.
You get a new Napalm Strike Magicka spell which is fun to use. Two new challenge arenas. Machine guns everywhere!
The new setting keeps the game fresh. The original game was a little short with only 12 chapters. Single player is fun but coop is where this game shines.
The DLC is just as funny as vanilla Magicka and I definitely recommend. Hopefully new DLCs come out and ideally a map editor of some sort.
Yes, the game still has bugs in it but the developers have been good at fixing them.
