An enjoyable arcadey racing gamewickerrman | June 19, 2013 | Review of GRID 2
After notching a few hours into this, I am quite torn on whether I like it or not. Like many games it has some great moments, when you pull off a perfect drift round a hairpin bend it is amazing to behold. Yet at the same time, someone else will smash into the barrier and somehow exit the turn with more speed than you did during your perfect manoeuvre.
It has an unusual vibe about the game, like it seems to want to take itself seriously, but nothing about the gameplay is serious when at the start of most races there is a pileup on the first bend and none of the cars ghost out of the way. Yet in a 1v1, someone will get disqualified for accidentally blocking you on a straight.
It's quite an enigma, moments of annoyance follow moments of joy very closely. Enjoyable, yet flawed.
The best Tomb Raider for yearswickerrman | June 19, 2013 | Review of Tomb Raider
At first I was skeptical about this reboot of the great franchise. The last game in the series I enjoyed was Chronicles, but the story and gameplay of this wonderful game by Crystal Dynamics is well worth playing.
It all fits very well into how you'd believe a character like Lara Croft grew into who she was in the previous games.
There's yet more life in the tomb raiding woman we all love.

XCOM is truly a beautifully-crafted modern strategy game. It's very rare these days to see such a well-made game which is difficult to beat, but Firaxis have hit the nail on the head here.
In my opinion, this is a must have for anyone interested in strategy!
