Bugged but good RPGwolfm | Aug. 5, 2013 | Review of Gothic 3: Gold Edition
The problem with Gothic 3 is not its mediocre story or its dull characters but its many bugs that still exist even after you apply all the official patches. Of course you can also use the "unofficial" community patch that fixes most but not all the bugs. However if you can overlook all of the above you'll find a massive open world game where your choices matter with three different geographic and weather zones (temperate , desert , arctic) , a plethora of quests that have multiple conclusions and a lot of monsters to slay. If the bugs didn't exist we would be talking about an excellent game that could challenge even the mighty Elder Scrolls series. Truly a lost opportunity.
Excellent Grand Strategy game but only for a few.wolfm | Aug. 4, 2013 | Review of Europa Universalis III Complete DNS
Europa Universalis 3 is the definition of a grand strategy game. If you're looking for state of the art graphics you can move along because you will not find anything like that here. This is a game that many people will not understand and like but the ones who do will spend countless hours and days trying to change history by playing any country they want in the world from small african states to the grand Ming Chinese Empire and from small german duchies to France and Spain. The replaybility value of this title is perhaps greater than any other because no game plays the same and you have more than 100 countries big or small to choose and play with for 400+ years of history. This game is a must have but you must be willing to spend quite a lot of time to learn and master it so that you can enjoy it properly.
Interesting RPGwolfm | Aug. 4, 2013 | Review of Two Worlds II
This game is certainly not in the same level as the Elder Scrolls games so if you're hoping to find a new Skyrim you'll not find it here. However, if you're looking for an interesting RPG with open and varied enviroments for exploration , interesting loot and lots of monsters to kill then this game is for you. The main story is indeed a bit weak ,the ending a bit implausible and the characters quite forgettable but if you can overlook these things Two Worlds 2 will reward you will many hours of interesting gaming. Although your hero is allied with the Orcs from the beginning you can only play as a human character but you can choose to play as a warrior or a mage - the mage is , at least in my opinion , a far better choice since the game has a very unique and interesting spell creation system. If you're an RPG fan you should definitely try out this game especially if you find it on sale for less than 10$. Its certainly worth your money.
Goodwolfm | Jan. 29, 2013 | Review of Risen (Capsule)
An interesting game from the developers of the Gothic franchise. The Gothic games were considered excellent but flawed with bugs by some but mediocre by others. If you liked the Gothic games you'll surely find something to like in Risen even though its story isn''t as grand or interesting as the one in the Gothic series. However you have an entire island to explore and some choices to make regarding which side you'll support in the game (different sides mean different fighting styles and different character development).
The enemies you'll fight are the usual animals and undead you'll find in other games of this kind and the graphics are a bit mediocre but the game is quite good even though the ending could be better. Overall an interesting experience especially if you buy it cheap on one of the sales for 5$.
