Totally different Sniper Elite. And I like it.

wongheungwing | June 2, 2013 | Review of Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army

I originally avoided this game despite being a great fan of Sniper Elite because of the 60 something Metacritic Score. I was terrible wrong.

This game is a totally different sniper experience because the enemies do not shoot us and are actually like moving targets. But don't get me wrong. It's by no mean an easy game. Because the zombies can resurrect if not taken a head shot, you need to aim carefully at their heads while a body shot is enough for the original Sniper Elite game.

The trick is here. Because the zombies always shake their heads when they are moving, getting the head shots is actually much more difficult than it sounds. There are occasions I was forced to use the semi-automatic and the pistol to kill the zombies. And believe me, you need to run a lot in this game.

The stealth element in the original Sniper Elite is all gone. Maybe the Zombie can smell you or somehow detect you. But they know where you are. So you don't need to sneak around, hide behind walls or choose a silent weapon like what you did in the "human" Sniper Elite. It's face-to-face confrontation in open ground.

Don't believe Metacritic. There are many occasions they underrate good games and overrate mediocre games. GMG ratings are much more trustworthy as the review writers must have bought the game.

Haven't tried the coop yet because I am a shy person.

A game guide or manual is a must if it's your 1st TW

wongheungwing | May 16, 2013 | Review of Total War: Shogun 2

First of all, this game is not bad, not at all. The fighting animation is very good, as shown in the demo video and sample photos.

It's just that the text size of the in-game instruction is ridiculously small, making it very uncomfortable, and maybe impossible, to read the instruction. It's so helpless to the point that I don't really know how to play the game as it's my first Total War. Just Google "small font size" and "Total War Shogun 2", and you will know that it's not just my problem.

My conclusion: Maybe 80 if you have played other TW games, but just 60 or lower if you have not. I will try my best to learn how to play this game and revise the review later. But I'm quite sure my review is the first impression of those who are new to TW.

A bloody quick fix

wongheungwing | May 8, 2013 | Review of They Bleed Pixels

Despite the relatively ugly presentation, especially when you play with a big monitor, this game is in fact quite enjoyable.

The control is easy and responsive, just up, down, left, right, hit and jump. A very good game for quick fix when you don't really have time to play "BIG" games.

There is a wonderful feature that allows you to create check points after collecting some points. So you don't need to go all the way back to the starting point after dying.

The Cantonese foul words are superb! Very good fighting!

wongheungwing | May 3, 2013 | Review of Sleeping Dogs Pack

First of all, I'm from Hong Kong and speak Cantonese as my first language. I can tell you those Cantonese foul words in the game are really spoken by gangsters in Hong Kong and even Sun On Yee is a real triad organization. Well, the real one is called Sun Yee On. Firearms are not allowed in Hong Kong so that gangsters here need to rely on muscles and knives, which is truthfully depicted in the game. The developer has done a good job doing their research.

The fighting is Arkham City style and maybe even better. Environment kills are very brutal. Imagine putting someone's face on the gas stove and turn on the fire.

But this game is a little bit short of perfection. The girls are not beautiful. And the control of vehicles is weird. The map is too small. And there are just too many DLCs.
