Reviews for Bridge Constructor [Playfire]

Physics? Never heard of 'em! Are they edible?

Bridge Constructor is a game with an interesting premise but so-so execution. All you do is build bridges, but you have to figure out exactly how to engineer them in order to make them stable. If you graduated from college with a degree in architectural engineering, this game will be a cakewalk. If not, you will get a decent challenge out of it. At least assuming you bought the game for the challenge. The physics engine the game uses is downright hilarious. It’s not Bad Rats bad, which is bad bad; this is good bad, as in it is bad but you will still get a laugh out of it. Odds are you will spend more time trying to have your bridge fail in spectacular ways, making bridges that shouldn’t exist that break all conventional physics that proceed to break the physics of the game when they themselves break. And it is hilarious. Bridge Constructor is a bit of a mess, but you will still get enjoyment out of it, but mostly because how hilarious the messes are.

Never contemplated if they should

You build bridges. That's kind of it. Some are longer, some are made out of steel, some wood, others pavement. Some go over rivers and some over valleys. The environment may be different, but the building process is the same. unless you want to mess around with the game. However, having to ignore the game's goals to have fun doesn't add any merit to said game.

Not Too Flexible

Bridge Constructor is a puzzle game where you build bridges for three types of vehicles to cross over with the third one being unlocked after beating the game ( the tanker ). This game will take some time to beat. It took me around nine hours to solve the puzzles for the main portion of the game. You'll have quite a few puzzles to chew into as you build bridges or cause accidents. The puzzle solutions really felt restrictive. You're given a set limit of money that you cannot exceed via the choice of the building tools available to to you, wood and concrete, for example. You'll end up needing to build very specific bridges that can handle the load of itself, and the vehicles that are passing over it. The game really could have benefited from having a bit more leeway in terms of funds allowance. It puts a stranglehold on fun designs and really limits your architectural vision. To be more clear though, your designs can be a bit more wacky when only using cars as the vehicle of choice. If you choose trucks or tankers, you're very, very limited in how you place and utilize resources, especially with tankers. If you don't mind the limit on design freedom, then you're looking at a ton of puzzles waiting to be solved. You'll need to be able to construct bridges capable of supporting 3 types of vehicles. Effective designs will stand strong while bad ones will turn red and more red until things start snapping and vehicles start crashing or exploding (they can be hilarious). The materials you can look forward to using are wood, steel, concrete, and steel ropes. That's pretty much it for this game. The controls felt fine and worked with a mouse properly in my experience (this game is a port, I believe mobile or tablet).

I had seen this game and thought it had an interesting premise. Build tracks and see if the train will make it past. You get different levels and terrain to try to make your train make it to the other side. Its rather addicting and kind of fun for a game thats pretty basic. However the one thing I don't like about the game is that there seems to only be 1 answer, it is a puzzle game but I would have liked potentially 1 or 2 more ways to build a track but I guess that would defeat the purpose of the game itself so its not a huge deal. Its a small game, simple yet fun , challenging and addicting. Worth a try at least

Found it quite fun!

Of course it's not gonna be the new Mass Effect, but it does what it says on the box with no distracting elements. It's basically an engineering puzzle game, leaning to the casual appeal rather than going for the physics sim. It's perfect for me since I have no formal training in construction of any kind, but I can still benefit from experimenting with various bridge designs and see them fail (often) or fly. There's a simple map with the stages spread for you to unlock. The in-level screen is just you, the gap, and some elements to build with. There's no 'engineering lingo' to get you confused, nor any numbers (weight etc) except for the price of your building blocks and your funds limit. It's never about 'fitting the budget' as much as playing around with the designs, which is great. I had fun testing the designs, even (or especially) when they failed. Overall, I really like what this game does, and if you're here, you probably will too. With an "Expert mode" it could be used in schools, but as of now, Bridge Constructor is a fun toy with a subtle educational side to it

This is basically an updated version from the android phone game. It is good as it's constructing to then stuff drive over and see if it works. I like it and would say it's a 50/50 game because it's hard aswell as fun for a little time...

Fun, challenging but too expensive

The game is very much challenging and has very good physics however at times you may forget how good the physics are when you come across an odd glitch but don't worry it is very rare to come across one and even when you do it doesn't necessarily mess up your game. I've played many hours and I've hardly seen any so seriously don't worry. What is annoying though is the lack of freedom, I just wish you could design your own puzzles by choosing how much cash you have, what materials you have and what cars and trucks you have to get passed. Over all it's a fun game yet repetitive, if you've got spare cash get it if not wait till the price drops.
