Hot Pursuit is not a simulator, it's insane fun. You get to play as a cop trying to interfere with races, you do this by ramming into them or hitting them with EMPs or spike strips. You also get to play as the racers, avoiding the cops and making a run for it. The game offer tons of missions getting harder and harder for single-player, with a ranking system to add replay value. Also has online multiplayer, cops vs racers. racers tries to make a run for it to win, while the cops tries to make sure they dont finish to win.

I'm not a huge racing game fan, but I am enjoying Hot Pursuit a lot. You get 2 unique type of style, you can either play as a cop and try to takedown a racer, or takedown an entire race of 6 people. Or you can play as the racers, trying to evade the cops. You get special items like EMP and spike strips to damage others Missions can vary from just doing time trials, to 1 on 1, taking down multiple racers, avoiding multiple cops. You can even free-roam the overworld. And of course there's multiplayer, with hot pursuit mode where it's 4 racers versus 4 cops, where the cops need to stop the racers before they reach the finish

You can't really go wrong with NFS: Hot Pursuit. There's just so much to see and do, from chasing bad guys, to getting chased yourself, to ripping down the side of a mountain at night during a torrential downpour. Exploring on your own without a mission is also piles of fun, and you can race for miles on wide-open roads.
The cars are, simply put, works of art. Every single one of the world's premiere supercars are in here, and more than a few of them are sporting their police variants as well. The environments also look fantastic, with Seacrest County sporting some of the best looking roadside attractions ever seen in a racing game.
The soundtrack is great, though not as good, in my opinion, as that of, say, Burnout Paradise. The cars all sound great, with police chases being especially intense. Lots of blaring horns as you miss oncoming traffic by mere inches, and loads of tire squeeling goodness as you drift around corners and slide into dirt bypasses.
Autolog is an awesome feature as well, and beating your buddies at their own game is great fun. You can compare screenshots, times, and game completion scores, and all this from right in the game. I've never once run across problems using either it or the game itself, and the few instances of lag I ran across while playing were barely noticeable.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is a terrific high octane arcade racing title that is a fantastic addition to the series. It has got great and challenging racing gameplay along with great visuals and sound effects. The soundtrack has some great tunes, although there could have been more songs included. The gameplay itself is akin to Burnout as the developers are the same, so chances are if you enjoyed that series, you'll love this as well. Free roaming is a nice way to get a feel for the cars and to explore the large map. I definitely recommend this title, although the PC optimization could have been better.
