In the adventure, structured in various missions and chapters, play as four heroes chosen to form an elite team that will be tasked to infiltrate behind enemy lines Scorpio to end the terrible threat posed by this faction. Confrontation is in theory as a tactical RPG where every fight is done in real time with the help of the break, which is useful to assign sequences of commands to each of the members of our party. Once assembled the team, following objectives proposed from time to time, we will move on various maps, in isometric view. To get the better of the enemies of the Scorpion, we get to know the combat system of the title that is based on duels with bayonets as well as on various different types of spells. It will all be gathered in different kinds of abilities. Confrontation with the RPG, however, shares only a few things, being entered to label more as a Hack'n'Slash with tactical elements that as a real RPG. There will be interactive dialogues, there will be a choice even in the road ahead along the meager game maps that will arise as the long corridors teeming with enemies more or less strong. Confrontation is a title that fails to take full advantage of the license of the board game they enjoy. Insufficient on the technical side, which alone already affect the playability and fun, does not reveal even great merits in terms of gameplay, canon and never really quite appealing, sometimes simplified, with some issues (on all the pathfinding) to which are added a direction just enough RPG component and a bare-bones. Recommended for lovers of the game who want to try it at all costs.

Confrontation feels like it wants to be Dawn of War 2, put frankly. I'm hesitant to say it's a bad game, because it's not fundamentally broken in any way, and I had fun with it for a while, and all the mechanics work and are fairly standard, but the levels have a tendency to drag on, and the combat does get a little stale after a while.
For what it's worth, they seem to have a great license they're working with here. The designs of the characters look great, and there is an army painter to customize your army's look, but it's a little on the basic side.
The leveling up system is fine, and there are plenty of interesting abilities to learn and use, but there isn't much in the way of loot throughout the game. Most of the time what you collect is either points to upgrade your characters, or bandages to heal them, and personally I rarely had a need for bandages as your characters regenerate quickly after battles (though I definitely don't recommend charging into a new battle until you've healed.)
In short, if you really love real-time tactical RPGs, and this game is on sale, you might want to consider picking it up, but I'd definitely look up some gameplay videos first, because this game isn't for everyone.

There are times the single player campaign really rocks for me. Yes, there are three difficulties. It's very much a tactical dungeon crawl... think Dawn of War 2 meets Dragon Age 2, or something close to that. The character advancement is solid, with careful choices to be made as regards point allocation, but I've yet to see anything in the way of armor or weapon drops as loot. Often, each battle has a sort of puzzle aspect. You really can't just zerg the enemy and hope to win.
No skirmish modes.
The artstyle is solid, but the graphics are pretty low count. The characters aren't your typical fantasy fare, and that's nice. So far, I can't really see the replayability, but the devs claim a 30 hour campaign and that'd be enough for me. The way I play, it may be more.
The multiplayer is very very raw, with matches over so fast it's hard to learn how to improve your game. There's no stat readout after a match either, and no replay function to watch your matches. I'm hoping multi gets refined.
Remember, too, that it's based on the boardgame with many factions (16, I think). Only 4 are included at release, and you have to play Humans for the campaign. I'd expect updates and fixes, but knowing Cyanide they could be few and far between. That's just a hunch, though.
The user interface could use some work, too, mostly in the menus and before/after game stuff.
Overall it's a solid game, imo, but don't expect too much. If you like turn- based tactics games, it's a good one. It even reminds me of Frozen Synapse, in a lot of ways. You don't have to do the "pause and issue orders" method, either, if you're quick and want to play it all in real time you can.
No demo, according to the devs. Their forums are pretty quiet, but active enough.
